Hi all,

this thread is meant to provide a guide to all available mods for BG:EE. As we all know, the forums are very active and it's very easy for a new mod to get lost in page 5 a few minutes after being announced. If your mod is not in this list, don't take it as an insult :)

For mod threads not in the list bellow, notify me or post in the thread and I'll update it ASAP.

Just one rule for the mod to be added to the thread:

No direct download links. Respect the modders. If you like their mods go to their threads and give them a like or an insightful :)

If you're looking for information about older mods compatibility, read this thread.

If you're looking for information about how to install older mods, read this thread.

A new section about modding tutorials has been created. Have fun!

Version 1.2 incompatible mods
Right now ALL mods that add kits to the game are incompatible with version 1.2.
Also if you are experiencing crashes in the game, check your portraits folder for "bgee.sql". If you find this file there delete it and the crashes should be solved.

All fixes currently listed unde *FIXES* category are unnecessary if you have version 1.2 installed

The Candlekeep Party (spoilers) - including a speed game competition

$

Note: This idea developed into a speed game competition. For details go to this comment. To see all the characters designed for the competition consolidated onto a single page see here.

I'm considering making a custom multiplayer party of six consisting of Candlekeep residents. Imoen will of course be on the team. I would like to see if I can tie in a few kits that I still haven't gotten around to trying yet.

I can't have anyone higher than level 1, so Firebeard and Tethtoril are out.

In addition to Immy, I was thinking Hull and Reevor as the tanks. I've never used a Dwarven Defender, so I could make Reevor one.

Phlydia feels mostly like a mage to me. Although similarly she could be a sorceress or bard, I guess... I dunno, I was thinking maybe something a little wild and funky like Dragon Disciple Sorcerer, just for the heck of it? I've never tried a Dragon Disciple before. There is a bit of interesting FR lore about what actually lies in the depths of the Candlekeep catacombs. In my head I might tie that in some way to Phlydia:
It does not appear in the game, but the keep is guarded by the ghost of an ancient female silver dragon named Miirym. She is very friendly and may sometimes be found haunting the catacombs and caves beneath the fortress. IIRC (?) I think she may even be a little forgetful, like Phlydia!
The priests of Oghma aren't named... And they don't really have any personalties... So the PC is probably going to have to be a priest of some sort.

One of the monks could be a bard?... Maybe Karan, Parda, or Shistal?

There's Obe the Illusionist, to whom the Gatewarden directs you for training. But I'm going to guess that he would be too high level if he is able to do what he's doing for the tutorial...

Two of Obe's projections (?), Deder and Arkanis, appear in the Candlekeep catacombs--as real persons, evidently. Obi must create his projected images from real people at Candlekeep then? It isn't clear to me whether the party Obe teaches you with is real or projected. Anyway, I've seen threads on using Canderous, Osprey, Deder, Arkanis, and Mordaine before. But using the less obvious residents feels a little more appealing to me at the moment.

Anyway, I guess the party would be then:

CHARNAME (Cleric or Druid; specialty priest?; Fighter/Cleric; Cleric/Mage?) dual-class Cleric/Mage
Imoen (Thief)
Phlydia (Dragon Disciple Sorcerer)
Hull (Fighter)
Reevor (Dwarven Defender)
Shistal? (Bard)
Theodon (Jester)

Anyone want to help with stats? Or make other suggestions?

4) REWARDS
a. How it works
Now, this is something I spent a good amount of time on, so I hope you will appreciate my findings. It's all thanks to that great tool called Near Infinity. I advise you to use it too if you're interested in browsing the game files.
I will go step by step to show you how the system works and ultimately what is the best strategy to apply.

First, one thing you should know: you won't get any reward if you don't ask for it. It may sound simple but at one point I believed the system was more subtle.
So, when you start a fight in the pits and Dennaton asks you if you want to address the crowd, you should request an item (usually option 3.). If you do, here's what happens ("//" means the following is a personal comment) :

//Code from dialog file of Dennaton, OHBDENNA.DLG
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",1) //Global variable ohb_item_reward set to 1

If you've never looked at code, this simply says that a variable (an element to save a value that can change) named ohb_item_reward will have a value of 1 if you chose option 3.. Why this value? Well, look at what happens next:

//Code from script file OHB_101.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",1) //If global variable ohb_item_reward = 1
OR(2) //Or, one of two:
Global("ohb_101_item_good","global",0) //if global variable ohb_101_item_good = 0
Global("ohb_101_item_great","global",0) //if global variable ohb_101_item_great = 0
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",2) //Global variable ohb_item_reward set to 2
END

So, here's a BCS file. BCS files contain script. Scripts are written codes that tell the game to perform actions possibly on certain conditions. In that case, the block I selected from OHB_101.BCS begins with an IF, continues with a THEN and ends with an END. So it first checks the conditions between IF and THEN. If all conditions are TRUE, it performs the actions between THEN and END. RESPONSE #100 is a requirement that simply tells the following actions will happen. END is necessary to close the block started by IF.

Now, why OHB_101? Well, this corresponds to the first battle you fight in the pits (100 for the first tier and 1 for the first battle). I chose this particular area but the script part I selected should be replicated for each. You have one for each battle from 101 to 506 (26 battles).
And what about the ohb_101_item_good and ohb_101_item_great variables? We'll see a bit later why they're used.
So, we're lef twith a ohb_item_reward variable with a value of 2. What's next?

//Code from script file OHBVIC01.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",2)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",3)
SetGlobal("ohb_item_prob_low","global",20)
SetGlobal("ohb_item_prob_high","global",45)
END

Now that you're familiar with the way it works you should understand the ohb_item_reward was incremented and that two new variables ohb_item_prob_low and ohb_item_prob_high were set.
What about the script file itself? It doesn't look like it's specifically linked to the first battle. How do I know it interacts with it in some manner? Here's the answer:

//Code from script file OHBARE1.BCS
IF
Global("OHB_101","GLOBAL",1)
Global("OHB_START_BATTLE","GLOBAL",2)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
DayNight(DAWN_END)
SetAreaScript("OHB_101",4) //Area from which OHBARE1.BCS is run will run OHB_101.BCS in slot 4
SetAreaScript("OHBVIC01",1)
SetAreaScript("OHBDEF01",2)
SetAreaScript("OHSOUND1",3)
END

And we find here the two scripts I mentioned: OHB_101 and OHBVIC01. What about this particular script, OHBARE1? Well, it's actually the default area script of the four different pits areas you fight in (OH8200.ARE, OH8300.ARE, OH8400.ARE and OH9100.ARE). It checks what tier and battle you're at, but the actions it performs never actually vary.
Now that we know what scripts are called and how, we can continue with our ohb_item_reward variable with a current value of 3.

//Code from script file OHBVIC01.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",3)
!GlobalsGT("ohb_villain","ohb_hero") //If ohb_hero > ohb_villain
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",4)
AddGlobals("ohb_item_prob_low","ohb_hero") //ohb_item_prob_low = ohb_item_prob_low + ohb_hero
AddGlobals("ohb_item_prob_high","ohb_hero")
END

Heck, more variables?! Now we also have ohb_villain and ohb_hero variable! And why these additions with ohb_item_prob? Do you remember when we first started with Dennaton dialog? Well, if you remember there are other options to choose when you address the crowd. One of them is considered good or heroic (usually 1.) and the other evil or villainous (usually 5.). What happens when you pick them over the reward (I use the hero example, but the villain path is similar)?

//Code from dialog file of Dennaton, OHBDENNA.DLG
SetGlobal("ohb_raise_hero_score","global",1)

Yes, another variable! You shouldn't be surprised... But its name should give you a clue:

//Code from script file OHB_101.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_raise_hero_score","global",1)
GlobalLT("ohb_101_score_limit","global",3) //If ohb_101_score_limit < 3
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_raise_hero_score","global",0) //Prevents further incrementation
IncrementGlobal("ohb_101_score_limit","global",1) //Increments ohb_101_score_limit by 1
IncrementGlobal("OHB_ANTI_DENNATON","GLOBAL",-1)
IncrementGlobal("ohb_hero","global",1)
IncrementGlobal("ohb_villain","global",-1)
END

A lot happening there. So, you should recognize our fourth slot area script OHB_101.BCS. If you played the hero, it checks a score (raising) limit. You know that you can fight the same battle again right? Well, you could then go for the hero lines again and keep rising your popularity indefinitely. Which is why this limit is set to 3 and also:

//Code from script file OHB_101.BCS
IF
!GlobalLT("ohb_101_score_limit","global",3) //If limit of 3 is reached
OR(2)
Global("ohb_raise_hero_score","global",1)
Global("ohb_raise_villain_score","global",1)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_raise_hero_score","global",0) //ohb_raise_hero_score set to 0 to prevent further raising when replaying the battle
SetGlobal("ohb_raise_villain_score","global",0)

Now back to our previous block and to the THEN part.
The first action sets ohb_raise_hero_score to 0, so that this block can only run once (it needs a ohb_raise_hero_score of 1) in the course of a battle.
The second action has to do with the limit we just saw.
The third action I won't comment because it's out of our scope.
The fourth and fifth adjust the variables ohb_hero and ohb_villain we found in OHBVIC01.BCS. As you can see if one increases the other decreases. Remember that for later. Also, know that these two variables don't start at 0 but actually at 10 and here's why:

//Code from script file OHBHUB.BCS attached to (main) area OH8100.ARE
IF
Global("OHB_START_HUB","MYAREA",0)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
[...]
SetGlobal("OHB_HERO","GLOBAL",10)
SetGlobal("ohb_villain","global",10)
[...]
END

As soon as you enter the Black Pits (after your capture or on your own will), these values are set.
Now that we know how these variables start at 10 and increase (or decrease by 1) for every battle if you choose the right dialog option, let's see why this matter.
But first, we should continue with our well known ohb_item_reward variable. We left it at value 4 in OHBVIC01.BCS.

//Code from script file OHBVIC01.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",4)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",6)
SetGlobalRandom("ohb_item_roll","global",1,100) //Rolls a random number between 1-100 and sets its value to ohb_item_roll
END

So, it goes from 4 to 6. Why not 5? Well I have no idea. It's just that way, as weird as it seems!
A new variable named ohb_item_roll appears. What does it have to do with anything?

//Code from script file OHB_101.BCS
IF
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",6)
Global("ohb_101_item_great","global",0)
GlobalsGT("ohb_item_prob_low","ohb_item_roll") //If ohb_item_prob_low > ohb_item_roll
THEN
RESPONSE #100
SetGlobal("ohb_101_item_great","global",1)
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",11)
END

The second check is there to prevent reiteration of the block like we saw with the ohb_raise_hero_score variable.
The third one is a comparison between the two variables we mentioned but that we still have to explain, ohb_item_prob_low and ohb_item_roll.
Finally, a new variable ohb_101_item_great is set if conditions are true.
Before I explain the roles of each variable let's advance one last time with our ohb_item_reward now at 11.

//Code from Brodle dialog file OHBBRODL.DLG
//This is a trigger (condition) to this dialog answer from Brodle
Global("ohb_item_reward","global",11)

//This is another trigger to the actions below
Global("ohb_101_item_great","global",1)

//This is the action performed if all triggers are matched
SetGlobal("ohb_101_item_great","global",2)
GiveItemCreate("blun24",LastTalkedToBy,1,0,0) //Give Gnasher +2 to talking party member
SetGlobal("ohb_item_reward","global",0)

When you come back from the arena Brodle will approach you and give you a reward if the conditions are met. In the case of the first battle, he would give you the Gnasher +2, a club that adds over time piercing damage with no save. Truly 'great' as the variable suggests.
It also sets this variable to 2, which means you won't be able to get another copy of the reward if you fight the same battle again (it prevents the blocks we studied to run).
Now, you may have noticed that sometimes you get a reward but other times none even if you asked for it. This all comes to the variables I didn't yet explained.

We know that ohb_item_roll is a number between 1 and 100 and that it compares to ohb_item_prob_low. ohb_item_prob_low itself was one of the first variables we saw and was set at 20. But then ohb_hero value was added to that. So, given we asked for a reward in the first battle, this value was 10 as set upon our entrance in the main area of the Black Pits II. That males for a ohb_item_prob_low value of 30.
Now if this value is greater than the random number of ohb_item_roll, the ohb_101_item_great and the ohb_item_reward variables are set to value that prompt the dialog of Brodle and the reward.
In that case, it means you have a 30% chance to get the Gnasher +2. See the role of ohb_hero? It adds its value to the probability of getting an item.

What I didn't tell you about yet is that there's an alternate reward to be offered for each battle. Remember the ohb_item_prob_high variable set to 45? Well, as the name suggests it's a higher probability to get another though less powerful item.
It follows the exact same path as the other great item but rather uses a ohb_101_item_good variable and of course the ohb_item_prob_high one.

Now don't worry, I will come to the practical part, sum up everything, tell you every kind of reward you can get and what's the best way to win them all.
b. Sum up
• There are two different rewards to be won for a same battle
 • To get a reward you must ask the crowd for one
 • You can only get one reward per battle but can fight the same battle again to get another
 • You can only get one copy of each kind of reward
 • The chance to get a good item starts at 45%
 • The chance to get a great item starts at 20%
 • Your hero or villain score is added to you chance to get a good or great item
 • Your hero or villain score starts at 10
 • If you address the crowd as such, your hero or villain score increases by 1 for each battle
 • Your hero or villain score cannot increase more than 3 times for a same battle
c. Strategy
Now that this is all clear I will give you my advice:

Do not hesitate to replay each battle
You should first aim to increase your score to the maximum of 3.
Then, reiterate until you get both rewards.
Your score follows you, which means that after 15 (x3) battles you'll have 100% chance to get the good item.
Another benefit is the added gold that frankly shouldn't be ignored given the price of items.

Never alternate between the hero and villain roles
This is because when you raise the score of one the other decreases: completely counterproductive.

If you can and if your alignment permits, kill one of the notable items holder creatures
This has to do with part 2).
My prime target would be Arzol.
But beware, she has 144 hit points which means you have to be pretty deadly to slay her before the Winged interrupts you.
I think a backstabber is required there.

Never buy +1 weapons and when possible buy +3 weapons
This I learned the hard way.
Most enemies and quite soon I would say can only be hit by +2 or greater weapons. Some +3 and a few I believe +4.
A very useful trick especially at the beginning is to cast the Enchanted Weapon Wizard spell. It creates a +3 weapon for 1 day. Unfortunately, the types of weapon available are not to great (Mace, Axe, Long Sword, Short Sword). Still, it can be a life (and gold) saver.

On that same subject, I created a little mod using WeiDU to add Containers of Plenty +2 along with the +1 versions. Yes, I got scammed! I bought the Quiver for my Archer only to realize he couldn't hit anything with it.

You can uninstall it if needed.

Tob Sarevok's Armor

So, I was thinking about an idea for a quest mod. I do not think that Sarevok in BG1 was gifted the armor, I think he asked some powerful mage\entity to make it, in exchange for something, be it gold, money, soul, and whatever else.

I wonder if anyone would have an interest on making a quest mod, for Tob or SoA, with new areas and what not, where Sarevok, as soon as you are out of Saradush, tells you that there is a place, where you could be able to find a mage\entity, that could be willing to make an armor and a sword based on your essence.

I guess, that if one wanted such mod in SoA, it would be also cool to be given a note by the demon lord in ust nasta, where you ask him for power, he usually kills you, but hey, what if he gives you a note, and suddenly if you read it a new area on the map appears?

One could only imagine the endless possibilities that such a quest could offer.

What is the entity that the demon lord pointed you to?
What does she\he want?
How much are you willing to offer?
How do you empower the armor? [e.g doing evil deeds/hell's trials/Killing the five]
What can change the nature of a man? [ops, that wasn't supposed to be here]

Sacred 3!

I thought I'd throw some love the way of Sacred 3, I can't be the only one looking forward to this one SURELY!?

While everyone is off talking about Pillars Of Eternity and Dragon Age: Inquisition let's hope this one doesn't get lost in the mass of no doubt amazing up and coming titles!! :D

Sacred 3 is out on August 5th in North American and August 1st in Europe. (God knows for the rest of us. ;) )

Now, I've played a little of Sacred 2 and quite rather liked it. ARPG's are not always my thing but when they are, Sacred and Diablo are it.

From what I've been reading there will be a variety of classes including the new Safiri Warrior and Ancarian Lancers. Some places will apparently make a return, namely Castle Braverock. It will have 4 player co-op, if you're not online you'll get 3 AI companions each with unique abilities, both active and passive. You'll also be able to choose your own abilities which is great. :D :D

Anyways! It's not looking to bad! I've seen a few of you guys mention Sacred 1 & 2 (Namely @BelgarathMTH‌) so I thought I'd throw this out there for those that care!

It's not looking to bad either!

Images of females in believable armour!

This thread is for sharing pictures of females in sensible, sane, and above all safe armor!

Please include the name of the artist, and preferably a link to their gallery or web site. Don’t pirate art, and always give credit where credit is due.

One of my personal bugbears is images of females in armour. The vast majority have gratuitous displays of naked midriffs; buttocks and upper thighs in skin tight cloth or nothing at all; acres of uncovered cleavage held up by serious uplift metal corsetry; or in the worst case ridiculously large breasts barely hidden by thin strips of whatever that miraculously never fall off. And don't even think about the chafe factor!

Armour is supposed to protect your vulnerable bits, not put them on display. As the wise woman said - Never go into battle wearing leather fetish gear or metal lingerie.

Click on the artist's name to link to their gallery.

What Can You Get Away With In These Pix

I know these are not strictly sensible and practical, but I'm going to allow the following list, or else this would be a very short thread, and we would miss too much great art:- Breast plates with actual breast shapes in the metal/leather; high heels; silly sticking out bits - spikes, hooks etc ; Pauldrons (over the shoulder) that are way too high or big; anatomy that's not very realistic, but is part of the artist's style; grab-able long hair or braids; daft or silly helmets.
Also, although I started with medieval or pseudo-medieval armor, lets include all historical, fantasy and sci fi

For the absolute opposite of these pix, check out this wonderful thread http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/21721/unrealistic-fantasy-art/

- #15383 : veillez à ne rien cassez --> à ne rien casser (signalé par @Bergil)
- #17278 : correction d'une lettre qui s'affichait mal sur la description de l'objet (signalé par @Bergil)
- #20335 : il est grande --> il est grand (signalé par @Bergil)
- #20792 : a-t-elle --> a-t-il (signalé par @Bergil)
- #21733 : une correction d'une majuscule en fin de mot. (signalé par @Bergil)
- #22947 et #27260 : correction des guillemets et retrait d'un mot en trop. (signalé par @Bergil)
- #26902 : le livres --> le livre (signalé par @Bergil)
- #27242 : rajout d'une lettre manquante (signalé par @Bergil)
- #27481 : tour de durlag --> Tour de Durlag (signalé par @Bergil)
- #31906 : avanceaient --> avançaient (signalé par @Bergil)

Throne of Bhaal: Romance-talk triggers? Same as Shadows of Amn?

In Shadows of Amn, Jaheira had a thing for my character and I ended up completing her romance successfully. I've now reached Saradush and the only talk I've heard from her was in the Abyss with Imoen about her Harper situation. It didn't sound romantic at all. Will the romance talk trigger every hour or is it plot-triggered? I'm not going to bother playing the expansion if the romance is bugged.

The DnD site has had a major uplift recently. And to my relief found this.

http://dnd.wizards.com/dungeons-and-dragons/what-is-dnd/races/gnome

I found this and tried to google+ the gnomes, but so spanking new a webpage, couldn't get it to work :(

Unfortunately, they haven't held back the awesome power of the Gnome... I think this page relates to the release of the missing races...

If this is true... Well, you pansy elves are in for a (shin) kicking.

Report BG2 Game Text Errors Here

@Jalily

I noticed that BG2EE doesn't have a place to report game text errors/problems like the BGEE bug section has
http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/17044/please-report-game-text-errors-here/p1 . People seem to be reporting BG2EE text errors there but I figured it probably couldn't hurt to have one specific to BG2EE.

Anyways in keeping with the aims of the BGEE thread (and literally copying 99% of Jalily's original post) I figured this thread could be a place for reporting textual errors in dialogues, journal entries, and descriptions in the case of BG2EE. These include the following:
- spelling and grammar mistakes
- factual mistakes in the text itself (not generated by the program—see below)
- spoilers: dialogue and journal entries that unintentionally tell your character things they're not meant to know yet
- missing tokens or blatant assumptions that the PC is a certain race or gender
- inconsistent wording for the same dialogue option or in descriptions for the same (type of) thing

Problems that do not fall under game text errors and which you should make a separate bug report for:
- stat calculation errors
- invalid string references
- problems with the (Not) Usable By header
- wrongly assigned (as opposed to misspelled) tooltips
- journal entries not closing or being added to the right section (inaccurate journal entries should go here)

Kirik bug not appearing in hidden camp and wrong dialogue

Hi, Kirik the little boy is bugged in various ways after the questline finishes (beating red wizards for Neera).

If you save Amanis,Kirik will not appear in Hidden Camp.

If you do not save Amanis and did do Kirik's quest, he will appear in the hidden camp, but have wrong dialogue.

The reason is the code.

When you save Amani OHN_KIRIK_PLOT is set to 12

BG1 NPC Mods and banters question

$

Hello friends!
I have a question, rather a rhetorical one.
There’s a huge amount of NPC mods out there. Well, I’ve played only few of them. Just in case I’m not talking about good or bad mods, but there’s a thing that bothers me a lot. Lets take the first BG game. I’m currently working on a mod. Though the original idea was to add new areas - 4 or 5 new dungeons to the game, new mobs, new items etc, but later I’ve decided to add an NPC to my small add-on (actually I’ve added 3 NPCs)… Nevermind… All of them have standart party voicesets (action, battlecry, selecting, reputation change, day\night and etc.), but banter lines are not voiced at all, unlike Dorn’s or Neera’s, though all 3 EE NPCs have no reputation change lines or day\night, dungeon\city lines, but they have a lot of banters and interactions compared to the original ones. And IMO they are breaking the athmosphere a bit with that, standing out from the original NPCs (they look like more BG2 NPCs in the BG1 world, but lacking some important party lines lol). The question that bothers me is what people really expect from a mod? No matter voiced or not – the more banters the better or the NPC should so to say merge with the crowd and get into the original athmosphere? I mean 1 not so complicated personal quest, voiced party lines, 1 or 2 banters and interactions (like Branwen for example), maybe 1 or 2 personal items (ehm.. Rasaad gets 3 =)).
Or maybe I don’t understand the whole concept – NPC mods are all about banters, not about that cosmetic stuff like voicesets and portraits? Does it bothers you if new NPCs do have 1 or 2 banters with everyone in the game while others don’t and keep talking even during a battle =) or if the new NPC is more laconic like Ajantis or Branwen?

And one more question for the DnD fans. Goblins usually have dogs or wolf pets. What kind of dogs are they or may be in the BG setting? Maybe Worgs or War Dogs?

Hello BG lovers!

Me and @Muttley are looking for people to join us on our weekly adventure.

CURRENTLY: Not looking for players, but I can add you to a waiting list in case someone drops.

We're currently in the final chapter of BG, and planning to continue to BG2 when we finish.

We aim for moderate roleplaying and a relatively relaxed game pace. We've been communicating over Skype when not in game. In game we just use the written chat.

If you're keen to join us or have any questions, drop me a quick pm or post here and I'll send you my Skype name. Once you know what kind of character you'd like to play, it would also be great if you could post a quick bio on this thread. It doesn't have to be anything extensive, we'll get to know them better during the game!

Dyrellei

Elven Swashbuckler
Chaotic Good

----------------

"Dear Da,

I hope this letter finds you well-"

She crumpled up the parchment and tossed it into the fire. Too formal. What was she supposed to say, though? It wasn't as if she could talk about exactly what she'd been up to recently. He might suspect the kind of thing she got up to, but he didn't want to read it. Someone across the room was watching her, and she gave the stranger a hard glare until they looked away, then started afresh.

"Dear Da,

How are you? I hope you're well, since I won't be hearing back from you any time soon. I'm still on the move, I've made it to the Sword Coast now. Evereska feels a long way away. I promise I'll come back to visit you, one day.

If you hear from Mother, tell her-"

Dyrellei bit her lip, thinking. Truth was cruel, but she didn't like lying to the man who had raised her as his own. She'd never really talked about what had happened, but maybe her Mother had told him? If he already knew, she couldn't lie. If he didn't know, how could she even begin to broach the subject in a brief letter? Some things were best done face to face.

"-It would be good to see her again. Maybe if she finds herself near Baldur's Gate, she'll be able to track me down. I'll be making a name for myself soon, just you wait!

Anyway, no real news at the moment. I'm still alive, still having fun on my travels, that's all that matters, right? I'll write again next month.

- Dy"

Finished, she folded the letter and sealed it, then returned to her tankard. Her spare hand rested lightly on one of the hilts of her paired swords while her eyes followed the other patrons of the inn. Thinking of Mother put her on edge, and she almost hoped one of those drunken men would saunter over here to bother her, give her an alternative outlet for her anger. If not, several people would leave the inn poorer tonight, no doubt. She was in the mood for mischief.

Avenger in BGEE

I have hit level 7 as an avenger and much to my dismay, have discovered that the sword spider doesnt do poison damage on hit, unlike in the original baldur's gate 2 implementations (the sword spider is also missing an attack per round and movement speed from the permahaste it had in BG2). I was planning on using the sword spider's respectable armour class and extremely high poison damage to be me my main fighter in my party (its just me and Imoen and I had a pretty hard time getting to level 7, so I am really hoping this is fixable). But without the poison damage, the sword spider's damage output is pathetic. It averages only 3.5 damage per hit, and 4 attacks per round is a lot less impressive when your thac0 is just that of a priest without any strength, proficiency or enchantment bonuses.

On top of that, my armour class was 4 lower in BG2 in sword spider form compared to BGEE, and no equipment or other armour bonuses account for this.

I am aware however that outside of shapeshifting, sword spiders dont actually do poison damage, so:

- Is anyone else having this issue?

- If so, is this a bug, or is it an intentional fix (which happens to ruin the shapeshiting portion of the avenger kit)?

- Does anyone know of a way to restore the sword spider to its BG2 implementation?

If not, I think I am giving up on this run, bear form does reasonable damage, but with an abysmal armour class, and as I have leveled only myself and Imoen, I cant be bothered to try and train up a tank (or pick up one from an area I havent yet visited with gimped proficiency allocations).

Playing for the first time ever. Should I go canon? (and some other questions)

So, as the title says, first time ever i play BG! (about time lol)

First of all, I rolled a Fighter/Thief (Elf) 18(00)/19/17/10/10/15, long sword+, long bow++, one arm sword+ ( i kind of did this wrong as i started as an archer to then go full tank with shield).

Atm my party consist of me and Ajantis as tanks, Khalid and Lmoen as archers (I use Lmoen to open chest while i find traps), Neera as the mage, and Jhaeida as the healer, both of them with slings. I do not really understand at all the spells, some things about the damage etc.. so this is why i ask this:

I'm next to Minsc to start looking for Dynaheir so i can complete the canon party, however, i have red (yes, i shouldn't have lurk here so much being my first run ever) that Dynaheir can't learn some usefull buff spells, and Jhaeida will have some troubles as a healer later on.

So, should I complete the canon party, or keep Neera, use Jhaeira as the second tank, and find a better healer ditching Ajantis, Minsc and Dynaheir? Will I lose some quest if i don't use the canon party? I don't want to end leaving the game at the end because i end with a bad party being tedious, I want to end it at least one time!!

And about the capacities; where should i leave find traps, open chest etc.. at 100 or more? Once i have those complete, should i countinue with steal on Lmoen and find illusion with my char?

And to finish, as its my first run, should i know about some quest that i should do or something important that i might miss? ( without spoiling if possible xD)

Battle In The Pits (A Role-Played Black Pits Adventure)

So put simply, I wanted to take a crack at doing a role-played play-through of the Black Pits. First of all, here's the team:
Paladin (Cavalier):
Name: Vivienne Lightbringer
image
image
Age: 26
Stats:
STR 18/75
DEX 18
CON 18
INT 12
WIS 13
CHA 18
Bio: Vivienne is a relatively young paladin of Torm. She was born to parents who were both paladins, and she never questioned the fact that she would follow their path. She took to the path with exceptional skill (I was planning for a 93. Then I rolled a 97) and has proven herself a talented member of the order. While resting at the order’s headquarters, she was abducted in the night. She will strive to lead this group with wisdom and skill, and keep the whole team safe in their journeys.

Ranger/Cleric
Name: Eryk
image
image
Age: 32
Stats:
STR 18/65
DEX 18
CON 18
INT 12
WIS 18
CHA 11
Bio: Eryk grew up in a house divided. His mother was a druid, and his father was a cleric of Lothander. Before running away at age 14, Eryk was forced to deal with many arguments over religion. Despite his hatred of these arguments, much of the philosophy of both parents seeped in to him, and in the end he chose a path that neither of his parents would have ever considered. He became a ranger/cleric. He worships both Mielikki and Lothander, and despises the undead with a passion, while believing in the sanctity of nature. His views on good and evil have come mostly from his father, however, and he does not believe in “true balance” like his mother did. He chooses to fight for justice, though most of his life has been spent communing with nature and hunting the undead. He was grabbed in the night as he slept under a tree, and he longs to escape his gladiatorial prison and flee back to the woods which he so loves.

Monk:
Name: Crimson Drake
image
image
Age: 23
Stats:
STR 18
DEX 18
CON 16
INT 12
WIS 12
CHA 10
Bio: Crimson was born a peasant in a small kingdom, and her life was a hard one. Forced to work long hours in the hot sun despite her youth, she was practically resigned to a life of sorrow and early death. One day, however, she saw two men, dressed plainly, walking towards her father and mother. She thought little of this at first, but the four of them talked for what seemed like hours before the two men handed her father a sack of gold and came to her. Her father told her that these were her new brothers, and they would take her someplace where she didn’t have to work in the fields anymore. She didn’t understand what was going on and thought she had been bought by slavers, and so tried to run away. The men showed an incredible agility and caught her, however, slinging her over their shoulders and carrying her away, though they tried to comfort her with their words. All the while she cried out for her parents, half cursing them for selling her, and half begging for their help. Her cries were meaningless, however, as the men carried her away. Eventually she cried herself to sleep, and when she awoke she lay in a soft bed in a stone room. She soon came to learn that her parents had sold her to a temple, where a group of monks lived. They added to their numbers by purchasing children from peasants, so as to help the parents, the children, and themselves. While the life was far more comfortable than she had experienced before, she was still forced to work, training her body and mind. Her name had been Crimson, due to her hair, but now she was given the last name of “Drake” as well, as this temple was known as the drake temple. These monks were her family now, and family they were. She grew strong, and excelled at the things she was taught. She chose to don crimson robes instead of the simple brown ones her fellow monks wore, and became known as the “crimson dragon”. She is a force to be reckoned with, and while kind, she appears incredibly intimidating to strangers. While on a mission to assist a small village near the temple, she was abducted. The monks at her temple worry for her, for the village was burned to the ground and Crimson’s corpse was nowhere to be found.

Bard:
Name: Jiro
image
image
Age: 36
Stats:
STR 18
DEX 18
CON 16
INT 18
WIS 4
CHA 15
Bio: Jiro is a human bard from Kara-Tur. He was originally the son of a noble and was trained in the art of fighting with a katana, however his father was assassinated and he was forced to leave his home. He had always been gifted with music, and so became a traveling musician. He has traveled for many years, but his road has always been peaceful. He’s talented, but quite unwise, having never been forced to do much but wander, fight off weak foes, and perform. Picked from the road while traveling, he has been thrust into the arena. Time will tell how he fares.

Fighter/Mage/Thief
Name: Hawke
image
image
Age: 28
Stats:
STR 18/98
DEX 19
CON 17
INT 18
WIS 6
CHA 9
Bio: Hawke is a drunk, a lecher, and a scumbag, but da** if he isn’t good. While he may be almost as foolish as Jiro, he’s more skilled than any of the rest of the group. He’s stronger than Vivienne, faster than Crimson, and as smart as Jiro. Not to mention he’s more multi-talented than anyone. He can hold his own on the battlefield, in a dungeon, or in a bar, and he’s seen more of the world than any of the others. No one knows much about him, however, as he says little of his past, other than that he’s traveled the world far and wide and seen more marvels and ales than anyone. He figures he was captured by Baeloth because Baeloth wanted a drinking buddy. He wields bastard swords, which he says is an intentional pun, and whether you hate him or not, he doesn’t care. He’ll grin his goofy grin, wink, and laugh.

Sorcerer
Name: Mira
image
image
Age: 21
Stats:
STR 12
DEX 18
CON 16
INT 12
WIS 12
CHA 15
Bio:
Mira is an unusual mage. She’s neither terribly smart, terribly well trained, nor terribly high-class. She was born as the daughter of an elven blacksmith in a small village. From a young age she found she had magical powers, which she thought was interesting enough, but she never indulged them. She enjoyed her life as an attractive young elf woman in a small town. She was to be married to a handsome young cobbler, but the week before her wedding she disappeared. No one knew what had happened, and many wonder if some creature could have taken her in the night.

And here's the opening part of the story. I'll update more tomorrow, but for now I'm just going to post this.

Prologue:
The group appeared in the pit, looking around in utter confusion. Suddenly Jiro pointed and yelled “Monsters!” The group spun around to see three Tasloi charging them. There were crude weapons laying on the ground at the group’s feet, and they quickly grabbed them and prepared to fight. The battle was over quickly, and a djinn appeared, saying that they “qualified” before teleporting them again. They next awoke in a large circular room and slowly stood up as they heard a high pitched voice say “What’s next? Ah! This group. Are they awake yet? Up! Rouse yourselves, you lice-laden layabouts. Stand up and salute your new master, Baeloth the Entertainer!” The group looked up to see a grinning drow standing there, wearing exquisite robes. “Who?..” Vivienne asked. The drow outright ignored her and continued talking. “You may also thank me, since your meaningless lives are about to become infinitely more exciting and quite likely… abbreviated. You have been brought here by an unlucky roll of the die. Well, unlucky for you. Gather some equipment, gird your loins, and prepare to fight. Najim, my obedient slave, take care of them. And don’t forget to give them a little spending money!” With this the djinn reappeared and began to speak. “As my master commands, take these coins. Speak with the dealers gathered here to equip yourselves. Once you are prepared, report to Master Baeloth. Do not attempt to escape lest he command me to snuff out your life.” “Where are we?! What’s going on?! I demand an explanation!” cried Vivienne, now quite furious from being ignored before. The djinn spoke again, no emotion visible on his face. “You have been summoned to this island fortress by Baeloth. We are in a complex known as the Black Pits, dug by Duergar slaves. You are to fight in the battle pits for the amusement of Baeloth’s guests. I have answered your questions, now prepare for battle.” The group looked at each other and sighed. “It seems we have no choice.” Jiro said. Crimson piped up. “Wait! Baeloth said you are his slave. Together we could rise up against him!” Najiim looked down, almost sadly, before responding. “I am bound by an undying geas. Otherwise, I would have slaughtered Baeloth long ago.” Baeloth, now at the edge of the room, turned his head and grinned. “I can heeeeeear you!” Najiim paid him no mind. “Prepare yourself for battle, mortal. When you are ready to face your fate, speak with Baeloth.” Hawke shrugged, grinned, and said “I don’t like it, but I can feel the effects of the geas too. Might as well comply for now.” With this, the djinn disappeared and the group went to the bedrooms to rest and talk. They talked for nearly an hour, sharing each other’s backgrounds, abilities, and opinions on these circumstances. Eventually the group decided that Vivienne was the most qualified to lead them, as she had been trained to lead others, while the rest of them were lone wolves. With this done, Vivienne, Mira, and Jiro went to purchase goods for the group, while the rest of them relaxed in their rooms. They knew little of the harsh battles that would soon beset them... Politics. The feel in your country.

Just a general testing of the water here. In Australia we have a violent, bigoted, racist, mindless old fool for a prime minister at the moment. Although you might say for a politician, "That sounds a bit over qualified" most Australians seem to be growing tired of him rather rapidly.

Every now and again in my country, usually it seems to be once every 12 or so years, having forgotten what it was like last time, we vote in the Liberal Party. We then proceed to remember why we stopped voting for them the last time. Because it's awful and in a few short months sends the country spiraling back into the dark ages with such memorable golden quotes:

‘I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and interests are different for physiological reasons’

And lets never forget!

‘Climate change is absolute crap’

So, what are some opinions of politics and politicians in general where you're from?
I doubt this will be everyone's cup of tea but I do enjoy insights into other countries!
If you took the time to read this I thank you!

I have a nasty problem.
Untill now game has run perfectly and all but reccently i completed SoA and game automatically started ToB. When intro movies end i'm at the field with those stone heads and game runs for 2-4 second and crashes.
There is a message for error and notification that crash data is saved in crash folder.

Any idea how to fix this?
