As a counter to the thread for unhappiness, which has been going strong since 2012, this is a place to celebrate the good things that have happened and are happening in your life. Regardless of how big or small it is, share what makes you feel a little bit better about the world. On the other hand, if you're feeling down about something, feel free to post here to ask for help, advice or just a virtual voice of support.

Editing drop tables?

Dear gurus on the Infinity Engine, I am searching for some way to edit the drop in the games. An I know that searching all of the crappy items will be a killer. So I hope to remove all the random small items from the drop tables, and gold for that sake. I am posting it here because I think it is a generic interest to be able to reduce drops to a more meaning full level. Yeas the massive drop rates was something I loved originally, it gave me the feeling that what I found of monsters and characters was "true" because I could pick up there items etc. But going over the games aging I must admit that the massive amount of gems rings and small swords is just to big a burden to micro manage. In particular I am preparing to go thought IceWind dale 2 :=) with it s Heart of Furry mode :) Is there anyone who know how and where drop contents is edited? Thanks alot in advance. -Rahona

Add Morningstar of Action +4 to random treasure list

Basically this just does what the description says it does. Now you have a chance of picking up the Morningstar of Action +4. You have a chance of finding it in the same place that you have a chance of finding the Morningstar +4: Defender. Just download the file and remove the 2DA file found inside it and place it in your override folder.

[Mod] NPCs keep BG1 sound sets during SoD

Thought I'll post this here, just in case some like minded players might find this useful. This mods lets vanilla NPCs keep their original BG1 sound sets during SoD. Note: This works ONLY when transitioning from BG1 to SoD (not for new SoD games) and ONLY for the following vanilla NPCs: Dynaheir Edwin (Jaheira already uses her original voice set by default) Khalid Minsc Safan Viconia You can select indivdual NPCs, so if you want Safana's new sound set but Viconia's vanilla one, that's no problem. I didn't include Beamdog's own NPCs as I don't think it makes much sense. Mod should work for SoD and EET. (Disclaimer: I just made this and only did a quick test on my own install, but I think it should work just fine with pretty much all mod set-ups.) DOWNLOAD

NWN: EE - Constantly crashing - probably on model load / armor change

Hi Beamdog devs, I've just purchased Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition but unfortunately it keeps crashing, it looks that any armor change or encounter trigger can cause that. It looks like it's struggling to load models properly. I can crash game immediately from prelude by taking off / changing my default armor. I can leave prelude room, speak to tutorial dwarf from the shop (next area door opens fine), if I zoom out or change the angle to see the open room nothing happens but when I approach it it crashes (I think an encounter is spawning NPC there). Same thing happens in both expansions. The Hordes of Underdark cinematics works fine. I can also fight the initial assassin fine, only when I leave the room it crashes immediately. I use Windows Defender with no Access Control, no other AV software running. No custom content or modules have been loaded yet. Stock installation. My rig: Windows 10 x64 Pro OS build 17134.523 Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5 GHz nVidia GTX 1070 16 GB RAM Samsung SSD Native resolution 2560 x1440 Acer Predator monitor with G-Sync Asus D2X sound card What I've tried so far: - Lowering all graphics details, textures and in-between combinations (some low some high), including advanced graphics settings in nwn menus - Lowering resolution, changing menu scaling - Tried with and without V-Sync - Tried with and without G-Sync - Tried with refresh rate of 60 Hz and 120 Hz - Tried disabling sound cards in Device Manager in case it was down to sound card - Tried updating nVidia graphics drivers to the latest (it was running stock drivers without GeForce experience initially from Windows Update) - Testing different campaign modules and races - Tried BETA (8184) and Developer Steam builds - Getting OpenAL drivers from their website Please help! The Religion and Philosophy Thread

Welcome to the Religion and Philosophy Thread!

This thread is here for all discussions relating to religion, theology, philosophy, and metaphysical subjects. This thread is open to anyone who is interested in theology or philosophy and wants to contribute their thoughts and ideas about the metaphysical or the divine. Due to its content, all forumites must follow a set of rules for general etiquette when posting in this thread, in addition to the Site Rules that apply to the forum more generally. By using this site, you agree to follow the Site Rules, and by posting in this thread, you agree to follow the thread rules. The Site Rules and thread rules are not up for discussion.

Rule 1: No Flaming, Personal Attacks, or Disrespectful Behavior

Respectful behavior is mandatory for all forumites, to all forumites. Regardless of how passionately you may care about a given subject, there is no tolerance for showing disrespect or unkindness to your fellow forumites. Everyone has an equal right to express their viewpoint, and while viewpoints may disagree, no one is entitled to attack another person's character, intelligence, morality, or enlightenment. This thread is here for people of differing viewpoints to discuss religion and philosophy in a polite, civil, and courteous way, to listen to each other from a position of empathy, and to agree or disagree without dismissing or belittling others. Ascribing absurd or sinister views to another forumite is against the rules.

Rule 2: No Trolling, Baiting, or Needling

This thread is not a playground for trolls. Attempting to bait another forumite into an argument, repeatedly pressing someone to respond to a post, posting in bad faith, or harassing others for any purpose is not allowed. No one is required to answer hostile questions or demands. Sensitive subjects are open for sensitive discussion.

Rule 3: No Bigotry or Stereotyping

This is a basic extension of Rule 1. Stereotyping, negative generalizations, and attacks on the morality or intelligence of large groups of people, however defined, is unacceptable. This includes religious groups as well as any race, any sex, any gender, any orientation, any nationality, any level of education or economic status, and any political affiliation or philosophy. Ideas, theories, and theological issues are acceptable targets of criticism. Your fellow forumites are not.

Rule 4: No Spamming

Repeating old talking points does not contribute to the discussion; it only takes up space. While repetition of some points is normal, re-posting the same basic comments with no new content constitutes spamming. Bringing new ideas and topics to the discussion keeps the thread interesting and informative.

Rule 5: Be Clear and Stay On Topic

This thread is for sharing ideas and debating philosophical questions. This thread is not here for semantic quibbles, nor is it here for forumites to "win" arguments or "defeat" an opposing viewpoint. Religion and philosophy are inherently abstract subjects, but it's important to make sure we are focused on specific concepts and arguments so we have some common ground for the discussion. Define your terms to make sure your meaning is clear, and don't be surprised if someone uses a different definition from you. Sarcasm is difficult to detect in a text-only forum, and while jokes can lighten the mood, some are easy to misinterpret. Speak plainly when possible.

Rule 6: Report Rulebreaking Posts to a Moderator--Not the Whole World

If you encounter a post that violates the spirit or the letter of the Site Rules or the thread rules, click the "Flag" button at the bottom right of the post in question to report the issue to the moderating team, or send a PM directly to a moderator. Do not attempt to fight it out in-thread or call out rulebreaking behavior publicly, as this violates Rule 1. Rulebreaking posts can only be addressed in private by the moderating team; publicly accusing another forumite of bad behavior is not acceptable. Moderator decisions are final and not up for discussion. Attempting to ward off a warning by admitting your behavior violates the rules (the "mea culpa" defense) will not be tolerated. If you know your comment breaks the Site Rules, do not post it. Both reports and warnings are confidential. The moderating team will not disclose who reported a post, nor will it announce if a user has received any warnings for breaking the rules. Moderators will occasionally post reminders of certain rules just to help keep them in mind. In a nutshell: treat your fellow forumites with respect, listen to other viewpoints, and say things that you would be proud to say in real life.

Doctor Who builds in 5th edition D&D

Happy new year fellow nerds. My friends and I are working to recreate different characters in Dnd 5e. Yesterday i made The Doctor from dr. who. If anything the Doctor is high Intelligence, low Wisdom. He gets lost in his thoughts and has a hard time remembering to explain them to the muggles, but the depth and breadth of his knowledge are unfathomable and even off-putting to people who haven't been alive for 1000 years. His CON should be high - not just the actual Regeneration process, but he is shown to be highly resistant to radiation and toxic chemicals that would harm or kill a human, and his binary vascular system (two hearts) makes him generally more robust. Personally I would aimmore along the lines of a Divination wizard with the Sage background (knowledge is everything and you're a step ahead of everybody else). Str 10 Dex 14 Con 16 Int 20 Wis 11 Cha 18. Skills: Arcana, History, Insight, Investigation. Cantrips: Light, Mending, Minor Illusion; 1st Level: Alarm, Comprehend Languages, Detect Magic, Identify, Sleep, Shield The Doctor prefers to talk first, run second, and defeat his enemy by messing up their plan (rather than directly attacking them) third. He does occasionally lose sight of this methodology and leave scorched earth behind, but even then it's because he uses his enemies' weapons or situation against them. He doesn't usually bring weapons. The doctor is NOT a pacifist. The 10th and 11th doctors were reluctant to use weapons because of the mental scars left by the Time War, but earlier doctors (and for that matter also the 12th) were not afraid to kill or destroy planets for the greater good. @Fardragon @typo_tilly

Turald NPC Mod - ver. 0.9

Overview This mod adds a new recruitable companion to Icewind Dale: EE - dwarven wandering priest of Marthammor Duin Turald Ironfist. It was created as an addition to Kulyok's NPCs, though it can be played as a separate mod as well. The idea behind this project was to create a person who would look at the events of the game from the dwarven point of view and who will also be significanlty older than characters from IWD NPC Project. Turald MOD contains dialogs with main character, interjections, player-initiated talks and crossmod content with Kulyok's NPCs and LavaDelVortel's Dusky. Character info Name: Turald Gender: Male Race: Dwarf Class: Fighter/cleric Alignment: Neutral Good Location: Temple of Tempus in Easthaven Romance: No Current status The first proofreading was made so I decided to release the first beta version of mod. Currently it contains full content for vanilla game and should be fully playable, though there still may be some bugs (inform me of any problems, please), especially since this is my first modding experience. Thank you for your attention and any feedback is welcome! Art by Aerenwyn (commissioned by me for this mod)

Cheats! Creating items?

Yes, I am a cheater. I have played the game with and without cheats. I don't have the patience to sit around and wait for my party to walk when I can easily ctrl+J them to the desired location that is 20 feet away from where they currently stand. Here is my problem though. I have already entered the 'Program Options', 'Debug', '1', 'Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1', into the baldur file, etc. My ctrl+J cheat works, but I can't seem to create items! I read that it should be C:CreateItem(); but that doesn't work for me! Has anyone gotten item creation to work? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Items Full List

I'm posting this as it is since I don't know when I'll be able to improve things. Feel free to make suggestions. EDIT: apparently, even one table is more than 100K characters too long but I managed to put a Weapon table and you'll find an Armor table in my second post. I attached several files. One contains the WeiDU code used to retrieve the data; the other is the full list in .xlsx and .pdf. After many trials, I was able to format the description. I only kept the "STATISTICS" part to make the whole thing more readable. I guess a website would be more convenient but that's another work.

Hi When my character has his first dream (in Chapter 2) there are no visuals aside from the text of the voiceover scrolling at the bottom. I've tried a fresh (mod free) install of BG:EE but I still get the same behaviour. Does anyone have suggestions for a fix? Thanks

SCS Sarevok Issue

First time posting here, long time BG player though. I just attempted SCS(solo Sorcerer)for the first time and have to say it's definitely been a challenge in some parts(chess fight comes to mind). I have, however, run into a real issue with Sarevok(normal difficulty). His HP regeneration is absolutely absurd, for starters. As such and as I consider myself to only be a mediocre player I have had to resort to extreme levels of cheese to get around this and I thought I had it figured out, but I think there may be a real issue with my game, the mod, something. Long story short: I setup 13 skull traps, used mislead, cast lower resistance 4 times, greater malison 3 times, then dispelled my mislead and kited him to the skull traps and they dropped a whopping 319 damage on him instantly and he still lived. What the actual f***? I don't know what else I can do. I've tried hold person and letting hasted monster summons deal with him(even immediately after skull traps) and still no dice, pun intended.

A question to companion makers

This is for those who have made party NPC. Do you - have you - put DPLAYER.BCS in the Default slot of the characters? All standard NPC have it there to begin with, even though it is additionally assigned after joining. I'm patching all potential companion CREs with certain protections, and the only outstanding feature they have in common is that script in that slot.

What's your personal best stat roll?

Hey, I have only been playing IWDEE/BGEE for almost a year, I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of total stat rolls people have scored. I thought it would give an insight into the chances of getting some crazy rolls like 100+. My personal best is 100... THAT WAS AWESOME!. She was a Cavalier Paladin in BG (and kicked butt), she even had a ridiculous strength of 18/88. I have had rolls of 98 (once), 97 (three times) and 96 (a couple of times). So what's is your best? Please let me know!

Are there so few PST mods because modding it is harder?

Hello all, I noticed that PST:EE has way fewer mods and almost none that added content (characters, quests, whatever) compared to the Baldur's Gate games. Is it because it is significantly harder to mod PST (or at least was before the EE) or is it just that BG2 had a lot more fans and developed a much larger modding community? I don't plan on getting distracted from the BG2 mod that Ratatoskr and myself are working on until it's finished, but PST is one of my favorite games, it would be cool to mod it. Also has anyone tried porting PST characters into Baldur's Gate? Thanks.

[MOD] -Will to Power- a 2E-inspired psionics system for the Infinity Engine

* (working title. Also under consideration: "the Will and the Way," "the Ardent Mind," "the Mind's Eye," and "Time-Life Books: Mysteries of the Unknown.") I'm creating this thread for discussion about the psionics mod I'm working on. It started as a single component in Might & Guile, adding a rogue kit that could use psionic powers as feats. I have since improved the reliability of the way psionics abilities work, and greatly expanded the number of abilities available for use. Now I am breaking it off as an independent mod. The mod is not ready yet; there's still a hefty 'to-do' list:
- create all abilities (97% done) - write descriptions of each ability (95% done) - set up system to apply under-the-hood stats to keep track of which powers you have learned (done!) - set up spell files to use abilities in-game (done!) - make Beamdog enable target mode 7 for item abilities (done! ) - set up dialogue for learning new abilities (done!) - organize installation of mod components (95% done) - code integration with the Might & Guile feat system so that warriors and rogues can be "wild talents" (15% done) - proper readme (50% done) - modify strongholds (0% done) - integrate "psionic" abilities of illithids and Planar Sphere halflings etc. (0% done)
Here is the description of the way psionics works, and the classes and abilities involved: THE WtP PSIONICS SYSTEM In the Forgotten Realms you may commonly find magic users, who use words and gestures to harness, control, and shape external energies that infuse the world. A psion, on the other hand, learns to harness, control, and shape the energy that infuses his own being. The ability to utilize that energy results from a combination of long study, intense meditation, and rigorous physical conditioning. Through that training, a psion develops the ability to expand his mind past the limits of his body. With experience, he may perform great feats of strength, manipulate energy, move objects, or touch others' minds. While this seems supernatural, for a skilled psion it is no different from the way he uses his mind to lift his arm, or move his legs to walk. Of course, hard running and heavy lifting take a toll on the body, and psionics is no different. Just as muscles contain stores of chemical energy that can be depleted, only to be recharged by rest and eating, so do psionic powers temporarily utilize stored biological energy. In-game, this is represented by a temporary reduction in your maximum hit points. - Example 1: a low-level psion with 10 hit points has been struck by a dagger, and now has 8 left. He decides to put some space between himself and his attacker, using Project Force. The stated cost of Project Force is 4 max hp. The target is knocked down and flung away; the psion is reduced from 8/10 hp to 4/6 hp. He will regenerate 1 hp every 12 seconds, until he is back to 8/10 hp 8 rounds after using Project Force. - Example 2: that same psion next faces an Enchanter and wants to protect himself against mental attacks by raising a Mind Ward. The stated cost of Mind Ward is 4 max hp, just like Project Force, but Mind Ward is a maintainable power. The psion can raise the Ward and his hp will drop to 4/6; and they will stay that way as long as he maintains the protection. After the magical threat is gone he can cancel the Mind Ward, and from that point his max hp will be restored over 8 rounds. That's right: there are no PSPs in this mod. I couldn't figure out a good way to do it. Moreover, 2E-style PSPs only regenerate when you rest (sort of), so playing a psion with PSPs would be not much different from playing a sorcerer. Using health and allowing it to regenerate makes the gameplay associated with the class more unique and interesting compared to the vanilla classes. (It also makes game balance difficult to get just right, so I will happily listen to critiques from players about how this actually works in the game.) The convenient thing is, your hp go up as you level, which means your store of psionic power will automatically go up as well. Now, psionic effects will tend to be noticeably weaker than the magic spells used by a spellcaster of a similar level. Likewise, psionic attacks may be weaker than the melee attacks of a warrior of a similar level. However, a psion has a flexibility unmatched by warrior or wizard. - Compared to the warriors, a psion may create pseudo-superhuman effects to react to the circumstances: hardening his skin to resist physical damage, or shoving dangerous enemies out of weapon range, or superheating the edge of his weapon to make it more deadly. - Compared to spellcasters, a psion is not bound by the limits of memorization. As long as his body can continue to recharge his stores of energy, he can use his abilities indefinitely. And while it takes several seconds for spellcasters to clear their magical aura and cast again, a psion may use powers at will, only slightly slowed down by the mental fatigue of using them in rapid succession. (In game terms, psionic powers have a 'casting time' of 1 and behave as if the player has Improved Alacrity active; but the use of each power induces a +2 penalty to casting time for one round, so their use become progressively slower if you use them quickly.) THE WtP PSIONIC CLASSES There are three psionic classes in this mod. They all fall under the broad term "psion" which I use to mean any character focused on the use of psionics. The Psionicist is in the Rogue class. This kit focuses on learning and intellectual prowess; to a Psionicist, psychic powers are a skill to master through study and practice, not much different from sleight of hand or picking locks. A psionicist has the following characteristics: - May learn one psionic ability per level - HD: 1d6+1 per level - Attacks: as a rogue - Reduced thief skill development (12 points per level) - Backstab multiplier limited to x2 - Cannot dual-class to a spellcasting class The Soulblade combines meditation and the study of psionics with intense physical conditioning, understanding that the body is a battery that powers his abilities. A Soulblade has the following characteristics: - May learn one psionic ability every two levels - HD: 1d8 per level - Attacks: as a warrior - Limited to Mastery (3 stars) with weapons - Limited to light/medium armors - Cannot dual-class to a spellcasting class - The Psypher is an ascetic monk who achieves a near-mystical union of body and mind. A Psypher has the following characteristics: - May learn one psionic ability per level - HD: 1d8 per level - Attacks: as a monk, including monk unarmed attacks - Does not gain the magical abilities or resistance of other monks - Cannot dual-class Get the latest release of the mod here. See the readme here.

Possible Memory Leak

I am posting here to report what I believe to be a memory leak that was introduced at some point in one of the patch updates to the game. I typically play on Arelith and after about an hour or so of doing dungeon runs or any other activity really I notice that my perf begins to dip. Upon restarting the game perf is back to where I expect it to be with FPS upwards of 90+ The issue should not be related to my system in any way as I run a Core i5-6600K at 3.5GHz with 16GB RAM and a nVidia GTX 970. I have not done a check in Task Manager to see if the game increases its memory footprint over the course of a play session. If anyone else is experiencing this please don't let this thread die.

BG1NPC v24-Beta

BG1NPC Project has been updated and officially released with BGEE compatibility! BG1NPC Project This mod expands on the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the BG game. When BG2 was released, one of the major improvements in many peoples' eyes was the increased level of interaction one could have with the party members. This mod was developed to allow BG players a similar experience. NPCs in your party now have banters with the PC , with each other, and small side-quests of their own. As we were unable to get the original character voice actors to voice all the new lines, we instead sought out music appropriate to each NPC to be played whenever they initiate banter. This musical package is a separate, optional package (to keep the download size down). Her script triggers the dialog by the party picking up the letter, but in the time it takes her to walk to CHARNAME, it was possible to read and drop the letter, leaving her unable to initiate the proper dialog. * Imoen's dialog on Laryssa will no longer interrupt Brage's script to return the party to Nashkel. * At the Bandit Camp, if Tazok was engaged in combat too quickly, Kivan could be left trying to initiate dialog with him. This dialog would fire after the combat, with Tazok possibily dead. Kivan no longer attempts dialog with Tazok after Tazok is dead. * Updates for Tiax's Quest to close open quest entries at their conclusions. * Moved Minsc/Dynaheir interjection with Thalantyr into a new stand-along banter with Dynaheir * Xan's interjection with Mulahey was copying a "ChangeEnemyAlly(Myself,NEUTRAL)" command to Xan since there is no pass back. Changed to ICT2 to prevent issue. * Added checks to Imanel Silversword's script to prevent dialog from re-initiating and stop dialog from initiating during battle. * Montaron was being sent to Minsc's "goto" location in the Elfsong Tavern rather than the Low Lantern with Xzar by BG1NPC's Wait at Inns component. Updating to send Montaron to Low Lantern. * In Tutu, when refusing Cythandria's surrender, Dynaheir will turn hostile. Danaher's interjection is inheriting an Enemy() action from Cythandria. Only affects Tutu, Cythandria's dialogue state 6 has an "Enemy()" action which is not present in BG:EE and BGT. Solution is to remove the Enemy action() in Tutu. * Kivan gives his reaction to Prism's death upon entering the Nashkel Mines area even if he wasn't in the party when Prism died. Adding a See("prism") check to script block in kivan.bcs. That should prevent the trigger from firing long after Prism is dead (and the corpse is removed). * Safana's response to PID option "Do you have any advice, Safana?" References Narlen Darkwalk, even in Chapter 1. Corrected triggers to not show this response until after Narlen has been encountered. * Correcting "Bruno" DV in x#yeint2.baf. (MadMate) * Updated item slots for x#david and x#dragon to place items in correct slots. (MadMate) * The XZNI1.6 dialog in xzint.d has an issue with the conditions. If Montanan is in the party, alive, but disabled (e.g., held, panicked, etc..), the dialog cannot continue. Updating the second transition condition to be "OR(3) !InParty("montaron") !InMyArea("montaron") StateCheck("montaron",CD_STATE_NOTVALID)" which is the opposite of the first transition, ensuring one branch can fire. * Updates to Coran's Succubus Quest * Updates to close open quest journal entries at quest conclusion. Added "close quest" journal entries. * If you refuse the quest initially, Coran no longer becomes instantly "charmed" before he has been given the roses. He has a more appropriate reaction to your refusal of Amelia. * Scripting updates to account for players force-attacking Amelia. Amelia will now turn hostile and attack the party. If Natan has not been talked to, remove him if Amelia is force-attacked (quest is aborted). If Natan has been talked to, increment X#CoranSuccubus to 13 to allow quest to complete. * Coran will now become "charmed" by Amelia when in her presence if Natan is "charmed" (i.e., has been shown the roses). * Amelia was a very difficult battle for BG1, so she has been toned-down to be more appropriate for BG1. * HP, THAC0, AC, Saving throws updated to be in line with PnP succubus stats. * Only immune to non-magical weapons * On BGEE (or Tutu/BGT installs with 1PP Wings), Amelia's combat appearance now has wings (defaults to previous fire elemental appearance on installations without 1PP Wings). * Updated combat script, inspired by Kirinhale's from TotSC * Many dialog typo fixes.
