What I'm more asking is will there be a discount for owning the Diamond version on GOG like there was a discount for Planescape Torment? Also I've noticed that GOG hasn't even remotely announced the Enhanced Edition as Upcoming yet...please tell me it'll still be released on GOG on time. (I have all the other beamdog games on GOG and don't want to break that consistancy)

Custom Portrait works in BG2:EE but not BG:EE
I edited a bunch of the original portraits from BG to make some variations from the originals. In BG:EE they work in the character creation screen, and the character page in game, but not on the side bar or the party screen (when making a party of custom characters). I used GIMP and exported them as Windows BMP files with 24-bit format.

In BG2 there seems like there is no problem.

I tried downloading a custom portrait from the internet, and that one works in BG:EE. I'm not sure what I did differently with my own portraits such that they don't work.

Both game versions are v2.3.67.3. My games are are modded with CDtweaks and a few other mods for kits. It's on my Windows 10 PC.
Any idea what I can do to fix it?

Edited NPC Portraits (Original BG1 style)
I love the original BG portrait style, but I'm not so great an artist that I can recreate it or draw portraits well. I saw some other portraits online that seemed to mix together different parts of different portraits, and I thought they were very effective so I tried to do the same.

Pre-made Canon PC: Abdel in Bg1ee vs Bg2ee
What's up with the pre-made "canon" Abdel in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 having such disparate abilities and proficiencies? In BG1 he's only 17 strength and 16 constitution but his dexterity and charisma are not so bad (plus he's chaotic good), and in BG2 he has insanely good strength and con, but terrible everything else, plus he lost one point in his "chosen" weapon style.
Do we have an official "canon" Abdel outside the games that we can compare this to?

Edit:
Actually there are more differences:
1. When booting up the game, a notification popup sound is heard just before the beamdog logo.
2. The high res font option is saved between restarts.

Suggestions Thread: Miscellaneous (Minor uncategorized tweaks and changes)
Hello folks, I'm Symphony.
In order to keep things collated, I'm starting category based suggestion/bug discussions. Please use your best judgement to find which discussion best suits your range of items!

As I understand, this folder is located on C:\Users\...\Neverwinter Nights
I wonder if it is possible to change its location during or, even better, after installing EE. Do The 'New' Item Icons Suck In Baldur's Gate?
I don't like the new Item BAMs (Icons) in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for in my opinion they have a far worse level of quality when compared to Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast Items. This is my reasoning:
-The New System wastes the close up details of the 'Zoomed In' BAM 'frame' by using tiny icons with only the 'Large Frame' as both the 'Zoomed in Frame' and the 'Zoomed Out Frame'.
-Item BAMs do not scale correctly 100% of the time and create misshapen and 'jagged' images. (This never happened in the Original)
-Most New Items have no 3D Base to them and thus turn out to be just blurry messes.
-Beam Dog could not be bothered to give all Items Item Depictions when being inspected.
-Some Item BAMs have been swapped and other have been traded when more creative solutions were available.
(Above is the nitty gritty' of my rant and the rest is below)
Strangely enough for being such a deep fan of Baldur's Gate (to the point where I first started playing when I was 9 years of age), just yesterday was my first time playing Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition.. *I Stayed up all night and beat The Black Pits on Baldur's Gate Rule Set Difficulty with a ~70% pre-generated party -custom cleric of Helm + cleric/thief-*. The long AGONIZING wait was for that It took me THREE YEARS, _I cannot advertise this point much more_ Three Very -LONG- Years to be able to purchase anything online; namely Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.. -No, I did not have nor do I any legal issues that created the said wait; in case as if you were wondering as to why.. (" ͡° ' ͜ʖ ͡° ')-
I have got to say that Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition (excluding the new pieces of story, atmosphere, amazing voice acting, new areas and new content etc) is 80% Great and Amazing.. and 20% "What the hell were they thinking"..
The 'New' Item BAM (Item Icons) File Format is such a complaint.. Why are the Item BAMs microscopic and why are they using the 'large' BAM for both small and large item frames? Again, why is the 'Close Up' BAM used only for the 'Using Weapon' on the portraits? Also when one picks up certain items they can fail to scale and they end up 'jagged' and misshapen..
I started to play the main story within Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition and when I saw the 'switched' BAMs and Animations for the helmets and when I saw the Switched Long Bow and Composite Long Bow BAMs and I lost my shit and closed the game.
Take note that I try hard to be very patient and understanding in general, but I respect my favourite game and The King of Western Role Playing Games far too much to take ANY crap from no one; Not even the original developers of Baldur's Gate whom are 'currently' a part of Beam Dog Studios. Although please realize that I have only done this type of reaction once before and that was when the Massively Multiplier Action Game "World of Tanks" removed my favourite tank and the developers wanted to force me to buy a shittier version of said favourite; to which I responded by quitting the game and working on my own 'internet tanks' game instead.
I am very unhappy about the 'new' Items within Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition and I plan to immediately get my ass in gear and fix these issues. My favourite part about Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast (With The Grey Clan in Candle Light Micro Expansion Pack Installed) was and is the Items (right behind the ground breaking story/plot and setting). When one goes to pick up the PROPER ITEMS in Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast they get bigger and make a cool novel sound effect when 'picked up' and they show a zoomed in version of themselves when 'put down'. When one right clicks on an item, the marvelous game gives the player a cool lore and ability write up along with an incredulous item depiction.. MY FRIEND that is the best way that I have found to do an Inventory Item in ANY game, Period - End Of Story. Bioware / Black Isle Studios 1998 copied and improved upon Diablo's pseudo 3D Items Icons, They gave them the rich lore of The HUGE world of Faerûn (mostly) and they gave the heart from golden age of Nuance of Player-GUI Interactions as in the form of the Splendid and memorable item inventory sounds (The Flail goes 'FWUFF!'). It was a child of so many worthy parents; and I don't like the new Bastard in-law that was born on the 28th of November, Year: 2012.
Now what do we really get with the new item 'improvements'? We get Crappy Item BAMs that you need a microscope to see, Blurry Rushed shit from Baldur's Gate Two, 'Revamped' nostalgia destroying item BAM TRADES (Have both, the new ones look good but put the original ones back you skimpwits!) and some Items that don't even have frigging' Item Depictions.. (I am looking at you case of plenty) This is Inconceivable!?!
I AM PERSONALLY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE 'NEW' ITEMS! But I LOVE the new and enhanced content, the story ideas, the plethora of bug fixes, the multi-platform support, bringing new hearts into Baldur's Gate, The Immersive and Respectable New Music and those New Fully Voiced Dialog Interactions and 'Plot/Quest Cut-Scenes' and Character Voice Sets! (Although the new portraits for the new Recruitable Non-Player Characters are 90/100 compared to the old ones and the portrait pack looks a bit shit when compared to the Original Portraits in my un-humble opinion for I Know how gifted the Baldur's Gate community is and what was out there on internet for 'free' pre-2012).
My Dearest Wish: more than 5 NPCs
Dear modders,
OH! How I wish someone could figure out how to break the 5 NPC limit in an EE game. 7-8 NPCs would be wonderful! 10 would be Heaven (Baator, possibly, or the Nine Hells, or Pandemonium, but it'd be an out-of-this-world experience nevertheless)!*
I've read up on the GemRB mod, if that's the correct term here, that allows one to have more than 5 NPCs. As GemRB is a complete re-creation of the game in a different format, the Enchanced Editions are not included, and I need my Siege of Dragonspear, man, I NEED it!
OH!@mephistopheles I mean, @JuliusBorisov
, I've a soul for sale if you can convince the dev team to un-hardcode the 6-player limit. Don't make me choose between Dorn, Quayle, Tiax, Montaron, Xzar, Xan, Edwin, Shar-Teel, Eldoth! I love all my babies equally!
According to @PaulaMigrate in this thread , the issue is that the game would break because so many things rely on the hardcoded player 1->player 6 sequence which does not allow for more than 6 characters.

Suggestion: Don't have summons, animal companions and familiars count towards party size for XP calc
First, a huge thank you to all who are restoring NWN to the modern era. I'm very excited.
In the original version of this game, if one summoned an animal companion, familiar, or used a summon spell, these summons counted towards the party size and would effect the amount of XP that the player received. It was possible to build a characters of several classes that relied heavily on summons and if they consistently used their summons throughout an extended campaign, they would be noticeably behind where a non-summoner class would be on XP accumulation. This problem was further compounded in a multiplayer environment with several summoners in a party together.
Please consider changing this so that only "main" characters like PCs and full NPC henchmen with PC power level count in this XP distribution calculation.
Thanks again. I can't wait to be playing this great game again.

-HOW TO DO STUFF IN WEIDU-
In the last year or two, I have picked up a lot of little techniques to mod many aspects of the game. Occasionally people ask me for advice (even though I am still a rank amateur), and I try to help. But rather than answer this question here, that question there, etc., I thought it would be nice to publish a FAQ-style thread with lots of tips and stuff. The goal is, people can pick up this code and drop it into a mod they are working on, rather than having to reinvent the wheel. Every mod is individual and involves individual effort, but say someone want to make stat-based kit effects; I can at least help you drop in to code for handling opcode 326 and splprot.2da, and then you can focus on making whatever cool effects you can imagine.
There will be no particular order for this stuff; I'll publish what I can, when I have time, if the mood strikes.
First up, in answer to a request from @Reddbane: how to make stat-based effects with opcode 326.
Second: how to add kit effects to all kits of a given class (including mod-added ones)
Third: how to target your mod kit with unique effects
Fourth: how to alter class/kit descriptions and not worry about string references

Has something changed in the on spawn code recently?
I've always been able to set mobs to use lootable corpses with a couple lines in the on spawn scrips but now is seems they leave a corspe, which is useable, but no loot inside, it then decays and a loot sack appears. I do hope this is something simple as it allows spawnng default mobs without editing them to have lootable corpses.
These are the additions to on spawn scrip:
SetIsDestroyable(FALSE, FALSE, TRUE);
DelayCommand(1.0, SetLootable(OBJECT_SELF, TRUE));
Thanks for the help.

NWN:EE-DD - Head Start: Missing OpenAL brings exit code 3221225781
I'm posting this problem and its soltion here in case anyone searches for exit code 3221225781 on the forum (which I did first, but couldn't find anything correction: which I did on the Support site and found nothing there, but there are some posts splattered over these forums here already):
On 2018-03-17 I bought Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition - Digital Deluxe and downloaded the Head Start version of 74.8164.0.0 using the Beamdog client.
When I clicked on play a dialog appears with the message:
When I tired to execute the nwnmain.exe or nwtoolset.exe it gave me a more conclusive error message:
The OpenAL installer can be obtained from the official page (openal.org/downloads/) or, as suggested by the Beamdog support, from Beamdog's server (beamdog.com/files/prerequisites/oalinst.exe).
From both sources you'll get the openalinst.exe, which requires Administrator rights to be installed.
openalinst.exe (SHA-1: 21FDC367291BBEF14DAC27925CAE698D3928EEAD)
Once OpenAL was installed, starting the game's exes as well as starting it from within the Beamdoc client worked well.
However, the Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition - Beta installer seems to be a little more clever. When I installed the Beamdog client on my second PC I first installed BG2:EE - Beta, which during the installation process, asked me to install OpenAL. After that, installing NWN:EE-DD - Head Start there worked as expected.
I would recommend to bundle the NWN installer with OpenAL as well.
