Zaram Maldovar's Ill-Fated No-Reload Journey (Attempt #8: Bumbleblade the Cavalier)

0
So I'm going to try my hand at the basic No-Reload challenge (no-reload rule still applies but I'm not adding tactics mods or turning the difficulty above Core Rules)

I am however giving myself my own little set of rules
1. The Standard Rule: At no time am I allowed to reload the game with the obvious exception of when I am coming back to the game. If a party member gets chunked, I have to find a replacement and if I die then it's game over.
2. Reincarnation: If I die (and let's face it I will) I am not allowed to play the game using any of the characters from my previous failures; dead incarnations of Charname shall remain dead and I am required to create a new character each time such a death occurs.
3. Glitch Clause: If a Glitch Occurs in the game that I cannot fix using cheat codes (such as the Invisible Keldorn incident) I am allowed to reload under this circumstance and ONLY under this circumstance.

Meet Afaaq! The djinni who will be your faithful companion in the course of your adventures throughout SoA and ToB. Now available for Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition as well! image Content - The djinni Afaaq who acts as your "seventh party member" - Extensive dialog content between Afaaq and the protagonist - Banters with the original Bioware/Beamdog NPCs (still in the works) - Interjections and commentaries - An extensive player-initiated dialog with Afaaq - Up to five new interesting quests - Six new areas - A couple of unique artifacts - Several easter eggs ;) This mod is available for the original Baldur's Gate II, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition.

Overview

Afaaq is a djinni – a genie of the Elemental Plane of Air. He is very old even in genie terms. The numerous events he witnessed in his long life have left their marks on his personality. He appears somewhat reserved and radiates a melancholic, sometimes even gloomy aura. Afaaq is more serious than others of his kind and tends to talk in a rather long-winded and convoluted way. He respects wisdom and open-mindedness, but will also tolerate foolhardy behavior to a certain degree. Everything else he can tell you by himself. When you first meet him, he is equipped with his favorite enchanted scimitar, has a small variety of spells and a couple of unusual innate abilities. The djinni gains experience much like a party member would do and levels up automatically. Depending on the choices you make during the course of the game, he may become even more useful later. Initial Statistics Class: Fighter/Mage at level 10/11 Alignment: Chaotic Good Strength: 15 Dexterity: 16 Constitution: 13 Intelligence: 15 Wisdom: 16 Charisma: 11 If you want to know more, simply talk to him when he is around or in his magical lamp. He will be happy to answer your questions in detail.

FAQ

[spoiler]Q: Where can I find the djinni? A: (Baldur's Gate II) You will find the djinni in the course of your Trademeet adventures. A: (Icewind Dale) You can find it somewhere in Dragon's Eye. Q: Could you be more specific where I can find the djinni? A: (Full Version) The quest to find the djinni will be triggered when you attack Adratha, the potion seller of the druid grove. To reach her, enter the druid grove and look for a cottage in the upper right part of the map. She is the rakshasa in disguise. A: (Light Version) You can find the djinni after you have killed Adratha, the potion seller of the druid grove. A: (IWD:EE Version) The djinni is in possession of Yxunomei, the current ruler of Dragon's Eye. Q: What's the deal with the full version and the light version of Afaaq? A: The full version contains everything I've advertised in the readme and this FAQ, which includes banters, interjections, comments and several quests. The light version is just a stripped down version of the djinni without additional content. I have added this option as a bonus for people who already know him inside out or want to take him along in Icewind Dale. Q: How useful is the djinni if he doesn't join like a regular party member? A: Since he's rather tagging along than joining your party, you don't have access to his inventory or record screen. His spell selection is fixed as well, although it may expand at a certain point in the game. To compensate these limitations, I have given him many useful abilities and options how to interact with him. He also has an extensive PID menu, regardless whether he is inside or outside of his lamp. There is even more, but you should find it out by yourself. ;) Q: Does he have a quest? A: (Full Version only) Not only one. In the course of the game you can take part in up to five quests related to the djinni, his nature and his past. Some quests are mandatory, others are optional or depend on how you solved a previous quest. Q: Does he get along with evil characters? A: Afaaq is generally tolerant towards characters of any alignment. He won't always agree, but unless you're acting very abusive towards him, it won't come to a clash. It might even be worthwhile to take him along with an evil party at least once, as certain quest options are only available to evil-aligned protagonists. Q: Can you romance the djinni? A: No, you can't. But there is a friendship path of sorts. While Afaaq shares your company, his respect for you might grow or wane, depending on how you deal with certain events in your path. This is very important for specific events later on. Q: How does he get along with other NPCs? A: Currently, there isn't much interaction with most of the NPCs, so he will get along with everyone just fine. That will change however in one of the coming releases. He will get along better with like-minded characters, but he will also tolerate some of the more evil NPCs. That doesn't mean there aren't any surprises if you've got Korgan, Edwin or some of the other evil Bioware or Enhanced Edition NPCs in your party. Q: Will there be crossmod content? A: The banter system is designed to support crossmod content. So yes, it is possible with little restrictions. But my first priority is to add banters for all official NPCs. Q: I want Afaaq to retreat into his lamp. How do I do that? A: You can ask him to do it. Click on the "Talk" button (or press F1) and click on your djinni. He will initiate a dialog which presents you an option to return him into his lamp. Another way is to trigger his quick menu in Afaaq's item ability slot. You can also force him into the lamp when you click the lamp's conversation button. Q: Afaaq is badly hurt. What are my options to heal him? A: You can cast healing spells on him, like on regular party members. You can also offer your healing potions to him. If you want to do that, make sure you have any kind of healing potion in your inventory before initiating a conversation with the djinni. Select the appropriate dialog option and the djinni will quaff the potion almost immediately. The same procedure works if Afaaq is poisoned or diseased and you have any kind of remedy in your backpack. Q: Sometimes I see strange messages in the game console which refer to Afaaq as familiar? A: The messages are harmless and will only be shown whenever Afaaq tries to leave a map on his own or attempts to enter a store. Unfortunately they are hardcoded into the game itself and cannot be changed without patching the game executable. Q: Will Afaaq become stronger later in the game? A: (Full Version) Yes. He gains levels in the course of the game, similar to the level up process of your party members. To inspect his current strength, you can ask him to present his stats. One of his quests allows the djinni to become even more powerful. He will gain a couple of new innate abilities and spells as well. A: (Light Version) Yes. As in the Full Version, the djinni gains levels in the course of the game. He will become even more powerful at a certain point in the game. A: (IWD:EE Version) Yes. As in the Full Version and Light Version, the djinni gains levels in the course of the game. You can also choose between two options to make the djinni even more powerful. One of them can be triggered during your Heart of Winter journey by talking to a certain person who is relevant for the main quest. The second option is available in Lower Dorn's Deep from a certain shady character in the hidden Svirfneblin camp. Q: Afaaq picked a fight with me. How does it affect the game? A: (Full Version only) There are several points in the game where he may strongly disagree with the protagonist. Sometimes it even results in a fight. After you win the fight, he will be fully under your control. As a result, he won't banter with you and your party members anymore and it might affect future event. Everything else should work as usual. Q: Quest "Vengeance": How can I disable the barriers around the temple complex? A: (Full Version only) You'll need to place certain items into the slots next to the barrier. All of them can either be found or "earned" somewhere on the map. Q: Quest "An unexpected encounter": I have entered the cave, but it looks like it has been abandoned already. How can I proceed with the quest? A: (Full Version only) Unfortunately, you can't anymore. The quest has to be started before you participate in the drow summoning ritual in Ust Natha. Afaaq should have reminded you once or twice to pay a visit to the cave before it's too late. You can still continue your journey without finishing this quest. It will make certain events in the future slightly more difficult to overcome, however. Q: Quest "An unexpected encounter": How can I enter House Arabani? A: (Full Version only) You need a wardstone to enter their home. Since House Arabani is one of the smaller houses in Ust Natha, they have made alliances with other houses to survive. Maybe you can take advantage of this situation? Q: Quest "Playing with fire": How can I enter the pool in the smuggler cave? A: (Full Version only) Firstly, you need permission from the occupants of the cave to enter the pool. Secondly, you'll surely burn yourself if you want to enter the pool unprotected. Talk to the townsfolk to find a solution for this problem. Q: I want to start a ToB-only or HoW-only game. Where can I find the djinni? A: (Full Version) You can't. The mod is designed to be started in the SoA part of the game. A: (Light Version) You can find the djinni after you have beaten Illasera. A: (IWD:EE Version) You can find the djinni lamp somewhere hidden in the Shrine of Waukeen in Lonelywood.[/spoiler]
Work on the Djinni Companion already began back in 2012. He eventually grew from a simple companion into a full-fletched NPC whose mere presence in your party draws you into a number of interesting quests throughout both Shadow of Amn and Throne of Bhaal. The Djinni Companion mod makes use of additional content from a number of mods, if it can find them during installation. You can find out more about it in the linked Readme. Feel free to post your thoughts, suggestions, questions or bugs either here or on SHS Forums. Have fun! :)

Baldur's Gate 2 - CZ Projekt - Definitive Edition

Všechno bude česky, v jednom jediném instalátoru a bude to výběr z toho nejlepšího (samozřejmě bude volitelné kolik toho budete chtít nainstalovat).

Právě teď bude instalátor obsahovat:

01) Můj osobní mód - Unofficial Item Pack
Nové předměty, úprava pár starých předmětů, nějaké předměty z SoD a pár nových bossů.
Ten už je přeložený a vždy když mám čas a dostanu dobrý nápad, tako ho i rozšiřuji.

02) Ascension

05) Almateria's Restoration Project

06) Romantic Encounters MOD for Baldur's Gate II

07) Imoen Romance
Myslím že není třeba komentářů... Každopádně anglicky hovořící komunita ji považuje za jednu z nejlépe napsaných romancí.

08) The White Queen
Velmi pěkně zpracované, smutné dobrudružství. Nové mapy, předměty a potvory. Nové úkoly té nejvyšší kvality.

09) Innershade

10) Tales of the Deep Gardens
Rozsáhlé a velmi kvalitní dobrodružství odehrávající se na nových mapách, obsahuje velice zajímavé nové předměty úkoly atd. Autoři udělali velmi zajímavou práci co se týká barev a vypadá to moc pěkně. Nové mapy, předměty a potvory.

11) Eilistraee's Song
Nové mapy, předměty a potvory. Nové úkoly té nejvyšší kvality.

12) Skie: The Cost of One Girl's Soul

13) Athkatla Grounds - The Southren Edge
Rozšíření Athkatly o nové oblasti s novými lidmi, úkoly, předměty a nepřáteli.

15) Sellswords
Velmi detailně zpracovaný mód inspirovaný stejnojmennou sérií románů z pera R. A. Salvatora. Nové mapy, předměty a potvory. Nové úkoly té nejvyšší kvality.

16) Assassinations
Nádherně sedí do hry, je dosti dlouhý (a pokračuje i v 6 kapitole), obsahuje i takovou menší romanci, prostě vše co by jste si mohli přát.

17) Back to Brynnlaw
Nové mapy, předměty a potvory. Nové úkoly té nejvyšší kvality.

18) Then Reunion
Nové mapy, předměty a potvory. Nové úkoly té nejvyšší kvality.

19) Isra
Kompletně nadabovaná paladinka kterou možná někteří z vás znají už z její módu pro BG1.
Nové úkoly i předměty. Nyní i s romancí.

20) Sheena
Dokonce už mám i custom made portréty, který udělal velmi kvalitní umělec.

21) Wilson
Udělá s Wilsona skutečně plnoprávného společníka a přidá mu pár rozhovorů s jinými členy party + nějaké ty malé úkoly.

22) Fade
Má vlastní úkoly a dokonce i romanci.

23) Yasraena

Kdy to bude hotové? :)

So, is that it? are they done

I haven't been following the dev of the EE version but I got it on steam and I'm playing it and such. Just wondering if they're finished with it or is there still development going on?

Companions from " The Siege of Dragonspear" to be added to BG 2 EE

Dear Beamdog! I am writing this letter on behalf of hundreds of your players, based on months of researching and analysis. We enjoyed Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear so much that it became one of our favorite games. We feel like this game can also enhance the Baldur’s Gate adventure and experience, and means so much to all of us. We’re deeply sad that there’re no plans to include quests and NPCs, related to Siege of Dragonspear, into Baldur’s Gate II:Enhanced Edition. [1] Not only it’s sad because new BG storylines and new Infinity Engine characters, locations and items could be exciting to play, but because stories from Siege of Dragonspear are not finished. EXAMPLES Caelar Argent is left in Avernus, but she’s alive. The way she as a character was built, and the fact she can join your party at the end of SoD means she was supposed to be a returning character in Baldur’s Gate II:Enhanced Edition. We all know that in Shadows of Amn, and especially Throne of Bhaal, the main character becomes so powerful that she could return to Avernus and save Caelar Argent. her Story is obviously not finished yet and a plenty of BG gamers are still using hashtag #bringBackCaelar, made by Dev6, across the Web. It became a real battlecry. Caelar Argent, the Shining Lady: Safana. Baldur’s Gate II provides stories for a few BG1 NPCs, whose stories were changed in SoD. For example, Safana is supposed to be the main substitute for Imoen during SoD, but in BGII she still acts as in 2000, with no explanation why she became so hostile to the main character with whom, supposedly, she travelled to Avernus, and back, and with whom she could even have a romance in SoD. Skie is killed in SoD, and it is very heart-breaking to every player, because there’s no resolution to this story. During one of the livestreams it was revealed the Soultaker quest was planned for Baldur’s Gate II:Enhanced Edition but it was cut. [2] As of now, there’s a plot hole in the storyline: what happened to Skie, what happened to the Soultaker, did Irenicus use this powerful dagger? Questions, without any answers. Corwin and Glint. The Siege of Dragonspear introduced new romances. There’re players there, for whom these romances are the best, and whose characters will forever be in love with Corwin, or Glint. Again, with all the power the main character gets in Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal, this character, being in love with a SoD-only NPC, would do everything to return and take this NPC into his or her party. Captain Schael Corwin: These were just 4 of numerous examples why content related to the Siege of Dragonspear would be welcome by players. We don’t talk about a free patch, we understand creating such content is diffucult and pricey effort. This is why we ask Beamdog to create and release a paid DLC to continue stories started in Siege of Dragonspear. Neera, the Wild Mage: CONTEXT
  • In January, 2015 Beamdog Studio Director said: “If Adventure Y is a success I would like to do a SoA->ToB expansion”. [3]
  • In June, 2016, Trent Oster admitted that Siege of Dragonspear “has been a success for us and continues to be a success”. [4]
  • The subsequent launches of Siege of Dragonspear on mobile, where reviews for SoD are very favourable (both on iOS and Android) show that it indeed continues to be a success.
  • In September, 2018, you said that you “might add content to Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition one day”. [5]
  • All the polls show that the content for SoD in BGII is a desired feature.
  • These are the results from the official forum. 80% of the users who voted in the Poll “Content from Siege of Dragonspear in BG II:EE”, voted for “Yes, we need the new content for SoD and BG2”. [6]
THE MOST POPULAR COMMENTS
  • It doesn't even have to be a full on expansion and I would still buy it.
  • I very liked new areas, and for me this was the best sod aspect so yes just for new areas i would be good to add sod npc, even more becouse EENPC and they quest locations also have great art. New items was also great with interesing ideas and new opcodes. Caelar will give great chance to rescue quest and some kind of roleplaing redemption. We have Saverok and Viconia but i hope it can be made fresh.
  • Put M'khiin in the Copper Coronet slave ring, replacing one of the kids. She can join the party when you free her. One dialogue and no new quests for a brand new NPC, all in a way that would fit right in with Shadows of Amn. You could do the same thing for Voghiln, Glint, and Corwin. Voghiln could be telling tales at the Five Flagons, Corwin could be investigating the missing people in Imnesvale, and Glint could be doing gnomey things somewhere else.
  • If they sell it as a DLC then those people who don't want it or who have never played Dragonspear would not need to have the characters in game. I think they could make any of the characters show up with a little effort. Again, it doesn't have to be a full expansion. If they just released a medium sized DLC, I'd be happy.
These are the results from the Russian social media (and this is while Siege of Dragonspear is not even translated into Russian). 73% of the users who voted in the Poll “Do you want the story of Caelar Argent to be continued?”, voted for “YES, very much”, 17% don't mind having this content and only, 2% accept the new content but with additional conditions and only 8% are against adding it . [7] QUOTES For the last year, the most popular request after every licestream, was about Siege of Dragonspear-related content for Baldur’s Gate II:Enhanced Edition. Let us just quote players (and check out big amounts of reactions those posts got):
  • “When is Beamdog going to announce adding a plotline for the Soultaker into BG2EE?” [8]
  • “We want M'Khiin and Glint in BG2!” [9]
  • “Is it a final decision? It would be a pity” [10]
  • “Excited for that patch roll out. How about plans for adding a resolution for the soultaker to BG2EE?” [11]
  • “Congrats on finishing the 2.5 patch for BG2EE! Why not take a victory lap and finish the Soultaker plot thread as well?” [12]
  • “The 2.5 patch cycle is nearly finished. Will there be small hotfixes in the future, to patch up smaller issues like bug fixes and regressions, so that player's won't have to wait months or years for bugfixes? Also, what are Beamdog's plans to finish the SouldTaker plot thread?” [13]
  • “The Soul Taker expansion was originaly planned for BG2, so even if your reasoning makes somewhat sense, I'm not sure that's the real reason why Beamdog didn't make it. Again, Beamdog purposefully created a cliffhanger in SoD with clearly obvious plan to do another expansion for BG2.” [14]
  • “I too would be interesting to hear more about this. When I purchased BG:EE and BG:SoD, I sort of hoped that Beamdog would close their own unresolved plots.” [15]
  • “I just finished SoD. I feel kinda down that none of what I did there really matters. I romanced Corwin and feel really shite that I will not see her again after all that. Is there any chance you guys are going to expand BG2 more? Maybe letting us continue with the characters you added in SoD? I'm sure you have read many fans' thoughts on how you could meet them again and it seems plenty possible. Also, the SoulTaker plot line... I really have unfinished business there.” [16]
  • “How about plans to close the Soultaker plot hole?” [17]
Even a member of the development team admitted the need to finish the Soultaker plot: “Good news! Hopefully those devs that just finished the 2.5 patch series can now focus on fixing the Soultaker plot hole.” [18] CONCLUSION & REFERENCES To finish our community letter, we would like to share this amazing Siege of Dragonspear fanart. Fanart can go a long way to show how much the game means for people. Please, Beamdog, create new Siege of Dragonspear-related stories, so that our biggest dreams could come true. References:

Mage Avatar

Is there any combination of Mage>Cleric, Cleric>Mage That has an end result of Mage avatar? I love the different robe looks but every time I do any combination or multi it is always the Cleric avatar. Kinda drives me nuts. Is it like DNA and the Mage is always the weaker gene?

Greetings EE Community, this is just a heads up that I have released my first EE compatible module, The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. Note that this also includes the sequels, Danger at Dunwater and The Final Enemy.

Although I have built and created multiple adventures for the World of Greyhawk Action Server, this is my first attempt at creating a stand-alone module for the Community. It can be found here at the Vault..

Cheers everyone!

The mechanics of Dispel/Remove magic

$

There are several threads in this forum about the spells Dispel Magic and Remove Magic, but AFAIK none of them covers in depth their mechanics.

I have gathered information about these spells from several places and this is what I got:
  • In spite of what the description says, low level casters don’t have a 1% chance of dispelling effects from high level casters. Their chance is actually 0.
  • Both spells display the message "Dispel Effects" in the combat log and a visual effect even if nothing gets dispelled.
  • Some magic effects are not dispellable. This include deafness, poison, stun, swarmed (from Summon Insects), bad luck (from Wish), decaying (from Dolorous Decay), doom, greater malison, held, magic resistance lowered, miscast magic, silence, unconsciousness, spell failure (from Insect Plague), and spell protections like Spell Turning or Spell Deflection.
  • The target's Magic Resistance, if any, does not affect this spell.
  • The only way to protect from these spells is using Spell Immunity: Abjuration.
  • When they are cast on a target affected by magic effects from several casters, the chance of dispelling is calculated separately for the effects created by each caster. The chances of dispelling the effects created by a high level caster are lower than the chances of dispelling the effects created by a low level caster even if they are all present in the same character.

Is this correct?

Even if the last point is correct, it is unclear how many rolls are made when one of these spells hits a creature. For example, let's say a creature has four buffs, two from one allied mage and the other two from another one. Then an enemy mage casts Remove Magic on the creature. Is there a single roll for all four buffs? Or two rolls, one for the buffs of the first mage and another one for the buffs or the second mage? Or four rolls, one for each effect?

[MOD] -Might and Guile- a tweak mod and kit pack for warriors and rogues.

Announcing my new mod - er, or a new version of my old mod, with a new name... ah, whatever. Announcing Might and Guile! Download: https://github.com/UnearthedArcana/Might_and_Guile/releases Readme: https://github.com/UnearthedArcana/Might_and_Guile/blob/master/README.md Review that read me for details, but in short, this mod contains various game tweaks and new kits, focusing on warriors and rogues. Thus, "Might and Guile." There is no "core" component; everything is optional, everything is independent. This is really more like a collection of several mods. So, my usual motto: install what you like, ignore what you don't. These mod components now contain: 1) Revisions to warrior and rogue classes and kits: - A feat system allowing warriors and rogues to learn all sorts of non-magical and semi-magical abilities - A psionics system, and a fighter and thief kit who can use psionics - A complete re-working of the way bards work, allowing bards to sing and fight simultaneously, and to use more thief skills, and to cast spells spontaneously like a sorcerer rather than memorize them like a mage - Barbarian and Monk movement bonuses changed to a speed bonus that can be toggled on and off (and rangers get it too) - Revised Berserker kit and Rage ability - Revised Stalkers, and Beastmasters - Revised Archers and an all-new set of called shots - Revised Kensai, actually following the in-game lore of only being able to master a single weapon category (at a time) - Revised monk fist weapons, toggling back-and-forth from non-magical to magical - Revised Blade and Skald kit abilities - Revised Shadowdancer with new "Shadow Pool" instead of HiPS 2) Warrior and rogue kits: - 5 fighter kits (Corsair, Marksman, Soulblade, Gallant, Hexblade) - 4 ranger kits (Elven Archer, Halfling Slinger, Mage Hunter, Barbarian Ranger) - 6 thief kits (Sniper, Scout, Alchemist, Psypher, Herald, Jinxer) - 4 bard kits (Jongleur, Gallant, Meistersinger, Loresinger) - 7 multiclass kits (Bladesinger, Spellfilcher, Loremaster, Tomb Runner, Thug, Ranger/Mage, and Ranger/Thief) It is compatible with all major current versions of the games: TOB, BGT, BG:EE, BG2:EE, IWDEE, and EET. (Some components only work with the newer game engine, however.)

Torn between three Charnames. Please help me make up my mind!

I am completely torn between three Charnames and I can't, for the life of me, choose which one to settle on. I'm basically doing three concurrent playthroughs - I'm around level 5 in each - yet the constant switching between characters and replaying the same areas is seriously starting to bug me. I also know that I simply don't have the time to take them all through the trilogy. I need to choose one and play on and forget about the rest.

The Charnames are:

1. Henry III - Human, Lawful Good, Inquisitor
2. Samwise - Human, Chaotic Good. Stalker, rolled with the intent of dualing to Cleric at level 13
3. Rollo - Half-Orc Cleric/Thief, Chaotic Good

My rationale for each of them is as follows:

1. My first ever Charname, back in 2000, was a paladin, and I haven't played a paladin since. So going through the trilogy with a Paladin charname has serious nostalgia value for me. Also, playing an Inquisitor would allow me to discharge Keldorn in SoA and avoid the massive guilt trip that follows keeping the man from his family. Having an Inquisitor would also greatly help with SCS mage battles. On the flip side, Inquisitors are kind of straightforward, and I am afraid of getting bored.
2. I'm absolutely fascinated with the idea of a Stalker > Cleric dual-class. A backstabbing warrior-priest with both cleric and druidic spells ! (And yes, I have manually unnerfed R/C spellcasting.) Dualing at 13, I'd get max APR, Stalker spells and x3 backstab, augmented to x4 with Stalker gauntlets made available in BG2 by the Unofficial item pack mod. My only gripe with this build is that it suffers massively from the "waiting to start living syndrome" - it would take me 2,850,000XP to even unlock the full class, which is mid-to-late SoA. Also, I'm not 100% sure if backstab is worth the missed warrior HLAs.
3. Thief/Cleric is something I've always dismissed outright. However, after having Tiax and Glint in my parties, I've become very interested in the class. A powergamey half-orc priest backstabbing people with a quarterstaff does seem to hold up - at least in the first game. My biggest concern is mid-to-late SoA and endgame viability.

Any thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated!

Q: Beamdog Mobile - Moving Beamdog games to SD storage to play, or as a backup.

I'm looking for a LEGAL way to move BG (and all mobile Beamdog games) to my SD card, hopefully still playable, or if not at least as a backup. Please don't suggest anything illegal, I'm not interested in that kind of things!

I have 16 GB of local storage on my phone/tablet and about 30% is being taken by bloatware. My 128 Gb SD card is pretty useless because I'm unable to move app/game content from local, even though Android (7) gives the option to move to SD storage. It just pretends to move but the files are still on local and SD content are empty folders.

Only 2 games I own succesfully move (almost 100% of the data) and still remain playable: Bard's Tale and Devil Stone.

I'd love to have a functioning BG1/2/SoD, NWN, Torment, IWD on my SD but that is not going to happen I'm afraid. This means I have to redownload these games many times when I'd like to try a newly bought game because I'm too low on storage space.

Is there a way to move Beamdog's games to SD storage, and copy it back to local storage when I want to play? I tried but Google Play/device won't recognize the game anymore when I do.
I thought GPlay was like Steam: You download a game or restore a backup, Steam it checks if you really own the game and allows you start it. Why can we restore purchases in apps but not restore a game? GPlay makes it so complicated.

Any advice (except for buying a new phone, or git gud ;-) )?

Baldur's Gate Arms and Armour Emporium

Hello I am looking for some moral support in making some new Baldur's Gate content (instead of feeling like a troglodyte). The idea: Baldur's Gate should have a proper arms and armour shop in the trade district (seems weird without one eh?). Here is the project so far: Downstairs: Upstairs: Context: More useful information: Custom sound files are already made from this guy's voice for the Dwarven blacksmith: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGca03sbLq7OUnXMdvRHyBQ (I didn't ask him I just ripped them off of youtube and made them more 'Baldur's Gate-y' in Audacity). The upstairs sells +2 standard magical weapons and armour and some +1 exotic and rare weapons and armour as well as some other exotic magical equipment. Progress: Currently I am being a lazy bastard and want to talk to people about this project. I feel that I should do a small mod first and get some stuff into the community from my work pile of new Baldur's Gate high quality content. It seems that I must finish up brushing / blending and gutting and adding nice looking arms and armour do-dads from other Infinity Engine games. Such as Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II; I have some appropriate do-dads picked out I just need to work more (Any do-dad suggestions?) Also I want to add a chimney to the roof out side (and I got one picked out): If you like reading: Here is an interesting chunk of additional information: https://www.deviantart.com/withinamnesia/art/Baldur-s-Gate-Arms-and-Armour-Emporium-Level01-751406924

BG:EE (GOG) Stuck in Jail CandleKeep - Chap 6 - Tweaks is the problem

$

Hello All,

Um Spoiler? If you haven't played before don't read this? lol

I got stuck through many save/reloads in chapter 6 using EE version in the candlekeep jail after you get arrested the screen shows my party in jail and nothing happens...a cut scene of sorts is supposed to happen where you are visited twice by men in robes. I actually left it to sit over night in case it was just moving REALLY slow.

Turns out the Tweaks UI thingy I believe was the problem. I ditched Savana and got Imoen thinking maybe I needed her for the Keep (I didn't think so though) I went through basically every stinking possible combo I could think of for the order of searching the keep (side note, I would say this is the one place in the game that is most disjointed.)

Finally I changed the name of the folder and had GOG client reinstall the game fresh into a new folder, and it worked fine.

Anyone else know which tweak could be the culprit? I use lots of them, many visual tweaks, convenience tweaks, changed spell tables, better character advancement stuff (grandmasters and dual class for everyone kinda things), bottomless bag of holdings, and the uber buggy one...change the icon image to make same containers look different.

Also, I think its the icon change but one of the tweaks make many item descriptions all messed up. Meaning, when I right click on an inventory item 50% of them have some random description/text instead of the actual item proper description. thoughts on this?

Anyway, I post in case anyone else runs into this, reload existing save using a clean game install...then in the catacombs go back to your tweaked out install.

Anyone know for sure what caused it?

[MOD] EEex (v0.6.0-alpha)

$

0

Overview:

EEex is an executable extender for Beamdog's Enhanced Edition of the Infinity Engine. Its goal is to externalize certain parts of the engine to grant modders a greater degree of control over otherwise hardcoded mechanics. EEex does not make any gameplay changes itself - it merely enables other mods to do so.

Just give me the link!

Alpha versions of this project are now available on GitHub. EEex will support MacOS and Linux on launch, however, the current alpha version only supports Windows. In addition, BG2:EE v2.5.16.6 is the only supported game at the time of writing.

What does it do?

EEex, when installed, directly modifies the game's executable in order to insert a loader. This loader is used to alter the game's code on startup; the modifications that are made depend on the version of EEex installed, and any installed mods that make use of EEex's capabilities.

I'm a user, what do I need to do to install?

EEex is installed just as any other WeiDU mod. Simply extract the archive's contents into your game's base folder, and run the setup - it will take care of the rest. Please note that since EEex alters the game executable itself, you should ensure that the game is closed before running the installer! EEex is currently in alpha, and as such it is highly unstable. All immediate crashes are believed to be fixed, though you still risk a crash at any time. Use with care.

I'm a modder, how do I use EEex?

EEex makes changes to many different parts of the engine. Accessing and making use of new opcodes, actions, triggers, and objects is as simple as installing EEex. The real power of EEex, however, comes from its ability to change hardcoded engine behavior. The hooks that enable these alterations are completely defined and controlled by the Lua environment, and as such, modders wishing to use these systems will have to either: a) Insert a M_*.lua file into the override folder. or b) Edit UI.MENU directly. Detailed documentation pending.
Previous post: [EEex v0.2.0-alpha] Who's up for some new LUA functions?
Edit: Alpha versions of this project are now available on GitHub. Documentation and post-overhaul pending™. I have been working on creating some new LUA functions via hex editing for a mod I am currently working on, and it has been going very well so far. In case any of you are curious, here's the two new functions I've made so far: Infinity_GetPCIdentifier(slot) - Gets the ID of the character in the given portrait slot. Can be used to access the characters table or in the following command... Infinity_GetLocal(creatureID, local) - Returns the value of the given local variable on the creatureID. Can be used in conjunction with the previous command to get local values of PCs. Currently in the works: Infinity_SetLocal(creatureID, local, value) - Sets the value of the given local variable on the creatureID. To give you guys some proof, here's a screenshot: Here's my question to you all - What new commands would you like to see? New UI behaviors are beyond me, but externalizing any other behavior the engine exhibits is definitely a possibility. I.E. any internal fields you would like to have access to, any existing function behaviors you would like changed.

What would you like to see in BG III

$

Well while we don't have more information about what is being done what would you like to see in the upcoming Baldur's Gate III? H;ere is my small wishlist

1) Follow tabletop rules. Have it at least as a difficulty option as BG always did.

2) No XP Cap. I'm a completionist. I earned that XP and I want it. No I don't care if it will makes the end of the game easier. Make it an option for those who prefer to play with XP Caps.

3) Full party interaction. I love good interaction. NPCs should have opinions and even give suggestions. It makes the game feel alive for me.

4) Good Party AI. I really like to feel I'm playing with people. A good AI goes a long way in helping that. Make it optional for all our strategist friends out there.

5) Have a good story. Seriously an RPG without a good story is just a bunch of playable tactical battles barely glowed together.

Basically that's it for me.

Boxing Thread

Edit: Topic changed. Noting I'm not an expert, I'd like to point out I have always felt that it'd be a relatively easy win for Mayweather, provided he doesn't throw the fight. Having heard every educated voice largely agreeing with me, I feel like at least I'm not a complete noob. ;) So, I expect Mayweather's mobility and quick thinking/skill will still dominate this matchup, with Mcgregor landing surprisingly few blows. I suspect Mayweather will be able to strike with safety despite having less reach, again due to mobility and skill, though I don't expect Mayweather to get a knockout, I do expect a dominant performance. The only edge I can see, and the only strategy that Mcgregor could bet on would be to get a few lucky punches early, most likely at the cost of being punched first. He's a bit heavier, and though MMA fighters don't get punched like boxers (either as powerfully or as constantly, as they have other options), he'll be used enough to being hit to make trading blows early a necessity. If Mcgregor fumbles on these trades, he might get knocked out, but I don't see him winning this fight unless he can slow down Mayweather, and giving him either some very big body shots (...these guys aren't heavyweights, so no padding on the tummy) or daze him a bit. I don't expect this to work, Mayweather has beaten probably quite a few professional boxers trying the same strategy, to hurt him early to bring him down to earth. General point, I really don't understand why either sport is really happy about this matchup; if Mayweather loses somehow (thrown fight), his perfect record is ruined, and after he has gone hill a bit most likely. It's not 30 yo Mayweather vs 20 yo Mcgregor, which would have been more fair, heck 5 years ago this would have been more interesting, though Mcgregor was a nobody back then. If Mayweather wins, he's managed to get a payday he really didn't need, but probably couldn't bring himself to turn down. This is very much about the money, as are all matches, but pitting an undefeated champion vs a guy nobody had heard of a few years back is absurd, and a bit offensive. I don't think Mcgregor earned this match, period. It's insulting to boxing to sanction this, but I'm getting rant-ey now. Yeah, about that 'out of nowhere' thing, is this going to be a consistent UFC thing now, pretending any champ is the 'greatest ever'? Because thats really lame. Am I the only one that thinks UFC is faker than boxing?

IWD:EE does not listen for "Direct/Local Connection"

I have an issue with LOCAL IWD Multiplayer:
If i host a session for local network, IWD does not listen on any network port for connections.
I read in some older posts it should be listening on port 47624, but that doesnt happen on my PC.

When testing with Baldurs Gate instead, both BG:EE and BG2:EE seem to listen on port 47630 (correct me if im wrong). They both work perfectly in this Matter.

Im running IWD:EE version 2.5.17.0 on a PC with Win10. (BG:EE same version, BG2:EE version 2.5.16.6)

Can anyone confirm hosting a session for direct connection with successfull connection attempt in IWD:EE & maybe post the port used by the application..?

(PS - Believe me: there is no firewall issue.. Also: pls excuse my english competence)
