Who's up for some new LUA functions? [Alpha v0.1.1]

Edit: I've released a highly alpha version of this project. You can find it attached to this post. Documentation and post-overhaul pending. I have been working on creating some new LUA functions via hex editing for a mod I am currently working on, and it has been going very well so far. In case any of you are curious, here's the two new functions I've made so far: Infinity_GetPCIdentifier(slot) - Gets the ID of the character in the given portrait slot. Can be used to access the characters table or in the following command... Infinity_GetLocal(creatureID, local) - Returns the value of the given local variable on the creatureID. Can be used in conjunction with the previous command to get local values of PCs. Currently in the works: Infinity_SetLocal(creatureID, local, value) - Sets the value of the given local variable on the creatureID. To give you guys some proof, here's a screenshot: Here's my question to you all - What new commands would you like to see? New UI behaviors are beyond me, but externalizing any other behavior the engine exhibits is definitely a possibility. I.E. any internal fields you would like to have access to, any existing function behaviors you would like changed.

Critical Hits

I'm trying to figure out how to check for critical hits on an object. If the last attack on the target was a critical hit I want to perform an action or create something, etc. Anyone know how this could be scripted? I can't seem to find a function for OnCriticalHits or something to that effect. Any help with even checking to see if the last hit was critical would be great. Thanks.

The topic for unhappiness/vent your sorrow

What I saw functioning well on other fora and what I hope functions well here too, is a topic to get things that trouble you, make you down, keeps you worried and just want to vent off your chest. Nice replies are welcome, though just getting things off your chest is good to. Let's refrain from full debates though, that would derail the topic. My spleen: tomorrow is the big release day, but I have the flu right now, feeling very tired and ill and not fit enough for gaming. If my condition is the same tomorrow, I'll feel too miserable to take a new CHARNAME on an adventure of the Enhanced Swordcoast (now! new Enhanced Swordcoast! with Wild Mages and Evil Blackguards! but please can somebody give me a potion of healing or cast a Cure Disease on me). *edit: topic title changed. Kudo's to @Kristie83

Hi! Is it possible to start BG2 EE with items from BG1 EE + ToSC & SoD? I have tried to enter inventory before opening talk with Irenicus, but it is not possible?

This is RIDICULOUS! Bought it and can't PLAY IT!

Bought this on Google Play on Android, i'm running on an ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) with Android Version 7.0 and the background screens are MISSING, the options DON'T EVEN SHOW UP CORRECTLY and when I go to create a character NONE of the character portraits show up at all! I seriously didn't expect this, especially considering how new my tablet is, this is just ridiculous. UM...could you tell me if you plan to update this so I can play the game I bought please?!

[MOD] Neh'taniel NPC for BG2/BG2 EE

Sir Neh'taniel will now work for old BG2 as well as BG2 EE. For those of you unfamiliar with him ... The main point of creating this mod is to introduce an NPC that isn't primarily one-sided in personality, has a whole history of his own, and isn't a pushover. While Neh'taniel isn't easily bruise-able, he'll very easily die if you try to make him fight a dragon solo. Neh'taniel considers himself to be at the same 'level' of the PC, and will point out conflicting choices the PC makes. The Sir Neh’taniel Mod Pack adds this to BGII: + Judicial Knight, Neh’taniel of the Amaunatori, is an NPC who can join your party. + He is Lawful Neutral, Wraith, and a Judicial Knight paladin class. + He will romance an elf, half elf, human, halfling or gnome female pc of non evil alignment if she is not a thief, or an NPC. + He comes with special abilities that grow stronger when he reaches certain levels. + He does not become abducted by Bodhi, something else happens.... + He gets turned into something else in the Underdark.... + His sword has dialogue, even with the only other talking sword in the game. + A journal that will update itself when certain levels of experience are reached. + Custom items and spells oh my! + Custom paladin kit. + Yes, a cheesy theme song. + A voice pack. + Neh'taniel banters with many of the other joinable NPCs. + This mod also introduces other custom characters: Viduan and Sarie. + Restoration of the Bioware Slave Lord Quest. He has a forum with more info here ... http://www.baldursgatemods.com/forums/index.php?board=96.0 The download link, however, will not work for this version or future ones as @CoM_Solaufein has to do that so... I will put it here. Also, you can visit here https://sites.google.com/view/kitannas-corner/home I hope you enjoy Neht as much as I enjoyed writing him.

General questions. IWD for newbies and semiprofs

I never got to play Icewind Dale on its original debut... My loss. I am now making recompense! This thread is for those who have experience with infinity engine games but not IWD. I have a thousand questions, and hopefully the excellent forum community can answer them. Please join in and ask your own questions if your new to IWD too! So a question I would like to start off with is what is the xp cap for IWD? EDIT (bengoshi, your friendly moderator here): Let's try to make one general thread where we can find answers on nearly all our questions regarding IWD, just as we did with the general questions about BG

TES4: Oblivion: EE

Preface: I've been kind of burned out on the Infinity Engine, as well as making a long-overdue hardware upgrade. Reinstalling Windows means a fresh install of various games, which of course tend to be heavily modded on my system. I relished making Oblivion the first one - I haven't played it in a couple years, and haven't installed/modded it in four or five. There are some great modding guides out there now, and I finally learned how to properly use Wrye Bash. I downloaded about 150 mods (which create about 250 .esp files, which is the hard limit on the number of mods you can use). I unzipped them and repackaged them for proper Wrye Bash installation and uninstallation, resulting in a situation in which, if becomes necessary to do a complete reinstall of the game and all mods, it can be done in a matter of minutes, rather than hours or days. I planned to get the massive modded install going and get back to spending some time in Tamriel, with a bit better graphics and better performance this time. I figured I would talk about it a bit in a thread here, to get people talking/reminiscing about Oblivion, and give some perspective to e.g. @Vallmyr who had once mentioned never playing the game. I could describe why I think that, properly modded, the game exceeds both its predecessor Morrowind and its successor Skyrim. Unfortunately, remember that "complete reinstall" thing? Looks like it's going to be necessary, because my well-guided, exquisitely modded install is crashing to desktop every 2-4 minutes. Troubleshooting has been impossible - the problem could be in some mod, or in Windows, or maybe even a hardware problem that hasn't manifested otherwise. I just can't pin it down. The game is - well, was  - far more stable on my creaky six-year-old laptop with a Win7 install that I had ceased to update, than on brand-new 2018 hardware and Win10. Oblivion, love it though I do, is made of freakin' glass. Look at it the wrong way and it falls apart. (Literally - pointing the in-game camera in the wrong direction could result in a CTD.) @Beamdog, this cries for your attention! Bethesda is giving us Skyrim Special Edition, but let me reiterate: Skyrim sucks! Please give Bethesda a call and get the rights to make Oblivion Enhanced Edition! The game needs exactly what has been done for BG1/BG2/PST: a bit of interface cleaning, a lot of stability and load-time improvement, a few cross-platform ports, and continued/expanded support for modding. Gah, off to reinstall...

Where can I download character portraits to add to BG? And are there any new voices I can download?

I am just wondering where I can find more character portraits and if there are any additional voices I can download (I'm assuming the latter isn't possible but thought I'd ask).

Persistent Minimap with GetTileExplored & SetTileExplored

So, yesterday i was bored and played arround with the functions GetTileExplored & SetTileExplored so i am justly simply sharing it here. Script is supposed to run for the Events "Area OnEnter/OnExit" and "Module OnPlayerRest". So it saves the minimap vision/fogofwar state of the current area to the bio db on every area enter/exit and player rest. Take/use it at your own risk because it was just a quick test, didn't really run an super hard test cycle with it. #include "x0_i0_stringlib" const string MINIMAP_DB = "minimap_db"; void main() { object oArea = OBJECT_SELF; object oPC = GetEnteringObject(); if (oPC == OBJECT_INVALID) oPC = GetExitingObject(); if (oPC == OBJECT_INVALID) { oPC = GetLastPCRested(); oArea = GetArea(oPC); } if(!GetIsPC(oPC)) return; int iAreaHeight = GetAreaSize(AREA_HEIGHT, oArea); int iAreaWidth = GetAreaSize(AREA_WIDTH, oArea); string sAreaResRef = GetResRef(oArea); string sMap = GetCampaignString(MINIMAP_DB, sAreaResRef, oPC); string sX; string sY; struct sStringTokenizer stTok = GetStringTokenizer(sMap, ","); while (HasMoreTokens(stTok)) { stTok = AdvanceToNextToken(stTok); sX = GetNextToken(stTok); stTok = AdvanceToNextToken(stTok); sY = GetNextToken(stTok); SetTileExplored(oPC, oArea, StringToInt(sX), StringToInt(sY), 1); //SendMessageToPC(oPC, "explored sX: " + sX + " / sY: " + sY); } int x; int y; for (x = 0; x < iAreaWidth; x++) { for (y = 0; y < iAreaHeight; y++) { if (GetTileExplored(oPC, oArea, x, y)) { sMap += IntToString(x)+","+IntToString(y)+","; } } } SetCampaignString(MINIMAP_DB, sAreaResRef, sMap, oPC); }

Preventing Stat Drain

$

Tinkering with Nearinfinity I created some custom items for my characters in BG2EE, one of those items is an amulet that prevents all the negative status effects. The thing is that some of the bad status like the Stat Score Drain or the Mind Flayer Intelligence debuff use the Stat Bonus effect as a negative increment, if I add and imunity to the Stat Bonus I can prevent the stat drain but at the same time I can no longer get stat buffs, like the Strength spell or the like. I was wondering if there's a way to only prevent negative stats increments?

[mod] v1 of Evandra for BG2 now Available at G3

Well, I am back after being away from modding for a while, and I've decided to go public with a project I've been playing with for the past year. This is basically the tribute to the Dragonlance setting that I've always wanted to write, but after working on Adrian and Ninde ToB, was a little bit nervous about writing another morally ambiguous, slightly mad elven mage. Obviously I finally decided I didn't care, and here is the result. Evandra is a True Neutral elven illusionist, and for those familiar with the Dragonlance setting, a Red Robed Wizard of High Sorcery. Given her background, her alignment in some senses represents a fall--a significant departure from what she had at one point expected out of life. Her status as a practitioner of illusion magic is also very important, as she has a rather interesting relationship with the concept of reality. Evandra can be found inside the Planar Sphere, trapped with the Knights of Solamnia. She is immediately recruitable. (Please note that the Mage Stronghold option to return the Solamnics to their homeworld is no longer available, though players of all classes will be able to resolve their situation eventually.) Linux version of the toolset?

So any chance the toolset will get a real Linux version? It's been forever since I looked into it, and I think on standard nwn it still needed wine and jumping through a lot of hoops to get the toolset to work.

NWN: EE - Constantly crashing - probably on model load / armor change

Hi Beamdog devs, I've just purchased Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition but unfortunately it keeps crashing, it looks that any armor change or encounter trigger can cause that. It looks like it's struggling to load models properly. I can crash game immediately from prelude by taking off / changing my default armor. I can leave prelude room, speak to tutorial dwarf from the shop (next area door opens fine), if I zoom out or change the angle to see the open room nothing happens but when I approach it it crashes (I think an encounter is spawning NPC there). Same thing happens in both expansions. The Hordes of Underdark cinematics works fine. I can also fight the initial assassin fine, only when I leave the room it crashes immediately. I use Windows Defender with no Access Control, no other AV software running. No custom content or modules have been loaded yet. Stock installation. My rig: Windows 10 x64 Pro OS build 17134.523 Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5 GHz nVidia GTX 1070 16 GB RAM Samsung SSD Native resolution 2560 x1440 Acer Predator monitor with G-Sync Asus D2X sound card What I've tried so far: - Lowering all graphics details, textures and in-between combinations (some low some high), including advanced graphics settings in nwn menus - Lowering resolution, changing menu scaling - Tried with and without V-Sync - Tried with and without G-Sync - Tried with refresh rate of 60 Hz and 120 Hz - Tried disabling sound cards in Device Manager in case it was down to sound card - Tried updating nVidia graphics drivers to the latest (it was running stock drivers without GeForce experience initially from Windows Update) - Testing different campaign modules and races - Tried BETA (8184) and Developer Steam builds - Getting OpenAL drivers from their website Please help! Regards, Marcin

Werewolf = Lupo Mannaro Winter wolf = Lupo invernale Witch = Strega Wizard = Mago Wolfwere = Uomo-lupo Wood of Sharp Teeth = Bosco dei Denti Aguzzi Wychlaran = Wychlaran Z: Zhentarim = Zhentarim Zombie = Zombi TRADUZIONE ARMI:
