This is a list of all UI mods for the EE games posted in this subforum, for your convenience. To be updated whenever new stuff comes along. To moderators: I'd be delighted if this thing could be stickied!

Please note that all these mods are only compatible with version 2.0 or later of the games.

GUI OVERHAUL MODS:

these are UI overhauls and as such, are not compatible with each other. You should install these before any other UI-related mods, as they'll overwrite any previous changes.

UI Tweaks

there are many other UI mods with small tweaks. EEUI Tweaks UI Mods Collection by AncientCowboy does a great job of not only cataloging them, but also bundling them in a single mod which detects what skin you're using and makes sure they're all compatible with each other. I strongly recommend you check it out as anything that's included in there will not be listed here for now.

Working on a Fanfiction Adaption

I felt the book wasn't very faithful to the source material despite having it's moments, so I've been thinking for years now about doing my own fanfiction adaption.

Now that I've established Zaram as a character, I figure now is as good a time as any.

Any advice or suggestions? It will be a while before I get this up and running, but I'm willing to listen to any and all help.

The end of HotU Chapter 2 battle is hard.

I'm playing as a solo rogue 12/assassin X/shadow dancer 1. Very strong build, pretty cheesy. I just wanna see the plot stuff for now, having never played. I'm soloing. (I've solo'd SCS BG–BG2: ToB.)

But when defending The Seer, I can't do a thing. I can one-shot enemies one every round no problem, but there are just too many to kill before they kill The Seer in two rounds. And I defeated all the possible allies! This was the smallest war party!

I understand this is a bit niche, but is it actually supposed to be this tough?

The "squads" I defended with don't actually do much. Also, they don't attack unless they're attacked. They're overwhelmed almost immediately. Also, it seems like any progress you make in defending those coming through the gate doesn't matter at all compared to the huge (and tougher) group that come through the docks. Eventually I had to make The Seer invincible to get past it all. I know it's probably the AoE element.

I just wanted to relate how I was surprised by the difficulty here. Every other encounter up to this point was a cakewalk.

Also,

Are the rebels usually such pushovers, or is that some EE bug?

Witcher 2 models

So I have been learning blender and have substance painter as well. And I now have a good idea about just how much time and work go's into making game assets from scratch. how much? A LOT.....and I keep coming back to the reality of how much faster and easier it is to just take old content from a game and put it into this one. I have tested and I know it can be done.

why witcher 2 and not 3? Because witcher 3 uses PBR materials and you need a game engine that supports PBR to render them properly,NWNEE's engine will not.

Why witcher 2? the art style fits better with what nwnee is going for and it fits better with the old content better than realistic textures would. And the witcher 2 was a late gen non pbr game like nwnee, so the bit maps normal's and specular maps will port right over.

What I want to know is if this is something you guys would like to see happen. I know that I do not have the rights to use the content. There is that. but it will all be free, and I do not plan to take any creature or npc models.
Why? because they would not fit in with the old models, and they are a part of the witcher lore and not the forgotten realms and I think that is where they should stay.

Server Migration

I'm putting this here in the hopes that someone who knows will see it, with the increased traffic on the main page. Has anyone successfully migrated players from an old server version, 1.69, to the new NWN:ee version of their server?

Suggestions Thread: Miscellaneous (Minor uncategorized tweaks and changes)

Hello folks, I'm Symphony.

In order to keep things collated, I'm starting category based suggestion/bug discussions. Please use your best judgement to find which discussion best suits your range of items!

This the Miscellaneous Suggestions Discussion. If you don't feel like the other categories accommodate your suggestion for NWN, this may be the best place to state it.

Feel free to post your suggestions below in a hopefully clean and concise manner, and if you have time, try to read the other suggestions so you don't duplicate any requests.

Concept art

I am posting this so people can post concept art of things they would like to see made and added to neverwinter nights.
I am still a bit new to it all, but I know how to make a model, uv unwrap it, texture it... With textures made from scratch in substance soon hopefully and get it into the game. So for ALL the artists out there, the good one's and the not so great one's, let's see what you all can come up with.
I am currently working alot of hours at work so it may take some time.
Also this is a place everyone not just me.

IWD EE Keeps Crashing in Multiplayer

My brother is home from college and we decided to fire up an old multiplayer save on IWD. I didn't realize a new patch had been released and I have never experienced technical issues to this extent before. Unfortunately the game consistently crashes when I access the multiplayer function. I don't know if this is a common issue people are experiencing, or if there is a solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Will I live long enough for this challenge?

@bengoshi commented about me completing no-reload solo games with every class. In the thread I suggested I would need to live to about 293 to achieve that, but I wondered how accurate that would be :)

To check it out I thought I would set up a (very) long-term project to test it - though it's always possible I'll lose interest after only a year or two ... That will involve playing under core rules using whatever the latest unmodded version of BGEE, SoD and BG2EE is. Character classes will be chosen randomly from those where success has not yet been achieved (using the same Excel spreadsheet approach as in my multi-player games with @Gate70, where we're currently on our 96th pairing). I've never completed BG2EE (or even got to ToB in it) - so using that set-up will allow a clean start with all classes available for selection.

For dual classes I'll allow 2 different versions, i.e. both a cleric-thief and a thief-cleric. I make that a total listed below of 74 classes (increased from original post now that the shaman is available). I'll show the number of attempts required for success with each class below (and colour classes achieved successfully in gold), but won't do any detailed write-ups. However, I will outline the way each run ends and after each successful run do a quick summary of the main techniques used and the pitfalls associated with that class.

I rolled up the first 3 characters (sun soul monk, wizard slayer dualling to thief and true class mage) prior to the release of SoD and for those am only requiring the completion of the trilogy. All other classes have to complete SoD as well (which at the time of writing in November 2016 I've never made much progress in, so is likely to result in a hiatus in progress :cold_sweat: ).

Sole classes
Fighter
Berserker
Kensai
Wizard slayer 12
Dwarven defender 9

Ranger
Archer
Stalker
Beast Master 5

Paladin
Cavalier
Inquisitor 4
Undead hunter
Blackguard

Cleric
Priest of Talos
Priest of Helm
Priest of Lathander

Druid
Totemic druid
Shapeshifter 2
Avenger

Mage 56
Abjurer
Conjurer 1
Diviner
Enchanter
Illusionist
Invoker
Necromancer
Transmuter
Wild mage 13

Thief
Assassin
Bounty hunter
Swashbuckler
Shadowdancer

Bard 2
Blade 1
Jester
Skald

Sorcerer
Dragon disciple

Monk
Dark moon monk
Sun soul monk 13 {2-5}

Barbarian

Shaman 19

Multi-classes
Fighter-cleric
Fighter-druid
Fighter-mage
Fighter-thief 1
Ranger-cleric
Cleric-mage
Cleric-thief
Mage-thief
Fighter-mage-cleric
Fighter-mage-thief
Gnomes substitute illusionist for mage in multi-classes

Dual-classes
Fighter-cleric
Fighter-druid
Fighter-mage
Fighter-thief 53 {1-99}
Ranger-cleric
Cleric-mage
Cleric-thief 3
Mage-thief
Cleric-fighter
Druid-fighter
Mage-fighter
Thief-fighter
Cleric-ranger
Mage-cleric
Thief-cleric
Thief-mage
Human dual classes must use a base 2-class combination listed above, but the first class only may be kitted.

Edit April 2017: - as the thread is getting longer and more difficult to navigate I thought I would add in direct short-cuts to each attempt. Clicking on the classes above will take you to the relevant post. I've also put in brackets against successful runs the order in which attempts have been completed and the total number of attempts (with all classes) prior to the previous successful run. Thus, for the fighter-thief, 53 {1-99} means that was the first run completed, after 99 attempts with all classes, though only 53 with that particular one.

While writing, perhaps I should also clarify that all runs are using my long-standing rules that characters may not:
- use any item based healing, e.g. potions, rod of resurrection, gloves of healing (regeneration is acceptable)
- use antidotes
- recruit any NPCs. There are 2 exceptions to this:
1) Imoen in BG2, as the game forces her on you for the purpose of opening your cell door, and
2) Caelar in SoD, as except in MP or with a full party she won't fight on your side without joining you (to compensate for that I'm not allowed to give her any orders after she joins).

Where & how do I import Portraits (both for the main GUI & the Character Sheet), and Custom Sounds?

Request Modfile for Android BGEE

Hi @Xhoblaim, and welcome to the forum.

Just layout your request for the mods you want included in this discussion. If the mod(s) have multiple components, then make sure you list the components that you want. Just check the version of BGEE that you have to make sure it is v1.3.2070.

If you can, layout the mods within a 'Spoiler', located under the reverse IP (actually a Paragraph Marker) icon in the comment tools, or use 'Attach File' (the icon that looks like a page with a bent corner) to upload a text file with the list.

What device and version of Android will this be going onto?

Hope that helps
Gus

Shifted forms and non epic spells, devices, and scrolls.

I am interested in opinions on allowing a shifted form like Dragon shape or Air Elemental etc, to use spellbook spells, devices, and scrolls (like rez scrolls)
And if something like that could even be Implemented?
The problem I have had with for example a Druid...When shifted you cannot use normal druid spells (just Epic), or even rez anyone with a scroll or device, you can cast spells before you shift (what I do) but they don't last very long, you could chance un-shifting to rez someone during battle, but that usually results in instadeath.
I have played quite a few heavily modded servers that could not..or would not do it?
Perhaps it would be too unbalanced? Not at all realistic/lore friendly?
Personally I would love to have this option, at the very least, some way to rez party members while shifted.
Would very much like to hear any ones opinion on this subject, Thank you.

This is the best place to be for NWN:EE news and information!

Reading through the forums, I've noticed occasional concerns regarding posts in the Steam discussions. I've been on Steam for a very long time, and as @JuliusBorisov has said, best to check here for the most accurate information and generally disregard many of the Steam discussions. Steam is a great platform for keeping one's game collection together, but the community leaves a lot to be desired at times.

One thing I can say with a fair degree of certainty is that when it comes to negativity on Steam, you'll always see the same names/handles showing up. No matter what the topic, such individuals will always try to incite an argument. I've found ignoring them to be the best policy. A troll will grasp at anything they can to create conflict, I've seen @JuliusBorisov shoot down quite a few. I applaud his patience, he has more than I do.

NWN has always been a VERY popular classic, and the more time passes, the more players will likely gravitate towards the enhanced edition. Just ignore the naysayers and negativity. In time, they'll fade away, go elsewhere, or perhaps go play out in traffic as my father always used to say .

For those of us who enjoy NWN, these forums and the Trello board are great resources for any questions one might have. I really enjoy Trello, as one is able to see what features others are interested in as well and allow the community to help drive the direction of the game. It is an exciting time to be an NWN fan!

"Maybe this time" [NO-RELOAD THREAD]: "Once Upon a Cloakwood, a Sirene was held"

In the depths of the old bioware forums, there are arcane threads hundreds of pages long and eons old that recount the travails of countless adventurers that tried to get through the entire trilogy without reloading. There are also already several excellent threads by @semiticgod @Blackraven and many others detailing their no-reload challenges.

I suggest that we share our no-reload/trilogy attempts in a common thread. Bioware forums show that there is synergy in such combined threads that keep solidarity far beyond the attempts of single adventurers.

Here are some suggested rules for a trilogy run that I use [adjust your own to taste and announce]:

1. no-reload [otherwise, there is no point]

2. SCS
[I recommend the following setup for both BGEE/BG2EE: full AI improvements; improved encounters only without rule-changes to monsters; NO insta-buff mages -- full SCS *will* kill you, if not trimmed as such reasonably.]
(SR would be great, but it is still in beta.)

3. no "munchkining" [personal taste, of course]
a. fair rolls for stats [i.e. don't touch the +/- buttons; re-roll if you want to]
b. no meta-game abuse [e.g. using a thief to scout is fine, but don't buff up for an ambush you couldn't have known about]
c. no EEkeeper abuse [I like making my FMC human for flavor, but it is perhaps overkill to make a Dwarven Defender/Mage with +++++ in Axes...]

d. "Do unto the AI as you would have the AI do unto you."
Basically, avoid doing things that AI is incapable of.
Example: As per the discussion in the following link, I do not permit myself to use Sequencers mid combat. They are no longer an obvious first choice for a Sorcerer. (Casting 3 spells a round really breaks the balance.)

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/44257/7-3x4-8-3x6-9-3x8

4. Any party size, solo or full team. Role play strongly-encouraged (and without such a gameplay theme, I loose interest in my own runs usually).

(If you wanna skip BG and start in BG2 it's also fine. My own OCD usually requires me to start from the very beginning, but I suppose this is impractical.)

Personally, in a decade of trying, I never finished a trilogy run (although did get as far Ch. 3 in BG2). I have seen others succeed in completing, so it is surely possible.

Entries welcomed!

Cormanthor - Forgotten Realms Roleplay PW

Cormanthor is a NWN:EE Roleplay PW set in the Dalelands & Cormanthor forest region of the Forgotten Realms (diverging from canon as of 1372, currently set in 1375). Cormanthor is a low magic setting with a collaborative storytelling ethos, aimed toward giving a grittier and more down to earth feel to FR.

We encourage players to be proactive and make an impact on the world, such as: founding their own guilds and knightly orders; restoring abandoned ranger stations, druidic groves, or lost elven watchtowers; and we also offer membership of canon organizations such as the Harpers or Zhentarim to PCs who display the qualities those groups are looking for.

Originally running from 2010 to 2012, Cormanthor relaunched in March 2018. We believe in continuous active development; we're always improving the module and adding more content for players to discover and enjoy. You'll find regular patch notes on the forum letting players know what the build team have been been getting up to.

We operate an active discord, forum, and wiki. You can find them all, along with more information at our website below. Feel free to make a post or join our Discord if you have any questions!

I used to have all the BG portraits in IWD. Sorcerer's Place has such a pack. However, one portrait is missing: the blond elf girl with the green cap. I can't find it as a downloadable portraits for the life of me.
Could anyone help me out, please?

Hello to all!

Long time ago I made some of my time to create items with the old Infinity Engine Editor (when ToB launched) and lost some interest to make new things

Now playing the BG2EE with some friends my interest piqued in and now want to start making new things for BG2EE (as start a new Vendor/Blacksmith NPC) but I'm very lost right now at what tools is used now for the new engine.

So can assume that Nearly Infinity and DLTCEP are still used in addition with WeiDu?

I will appreciate some guidance to get my right tools to start this new journey.

Thanks for your time.

Distinguishable clubs WEIDU(Update 1.1)

Update 1.1 Weidu patching for great compatibility

Since the release of BG:EE the magical clubs where a problem for a lot of players. If you found a club, and it was identified (as of the first version) you couldn't tell the difference between the normal and magical clubs. This was fixed in v1.2 by setting them Unidentified.
This was no solution for inventory management, because they all shared the same graphic.

NOT ANYMORE!

I created new BAM's for Club +1, +2, Night Club and my own Barbed club of Pain.

From left to right:
Club, Club +1, Mighty oak +2, Night Club, Root of the problem, Chanserv's Fish, Barbed club of Pain

And to make the Night Club somewhat nicer, I recolored the paperdoll animantion. It's now BLACK! So the +2 at night makes a lot more sense now, you won't see it comming! (It should negate dex based AC, but I dont think thats possible)

If you can't use weidu: The attachment contains 3 Item files and 3 new Bam's. Put them in your override and you ready to go.

The WEIDU version is ready!

Please download the OvrV1.1 (If you use android and cant use weidu)

Please use Weidu on PC and MAC

Icewind Dale 2.5 crash on load game screen

Game crashes immediately when going to the load game screen. Quicksave can still be loaded by starting a new game and pressing the quickload hotkey, but clicking "Load Game" or "Resume Game" from the main menu causes an instant crash. Clicking "Load Game" from the pause menu while in-game also causes an immediate crash.

I was unable to find a crash log in the game directory or in /var/crash/.

Ubuntu 17.10
i7 4790k
Fury X with open source (mesa pkppa) drivers
16 GB RAM
Game is installed on an SSD

Aside from this unofficial bug report, I would really like a way to downgrade to the previous patch on Steam. I've been playing Icewind Dale on and off for about 3 1/2 years without any problems until this patch. Now it's unplayable due to constant crashes. I think this patch needed some more testing before being pushed to everyone. It seems a lot of people are having these issues, especially Linux users.
