The 75 roll No-Reload/No Resurrection Challenge

Not sure how much interest there will be in this but I'm throwing it out there nonetheless!!!

RULES
- You must use a non-edited roll of 75
- You can re-roll as many times as you like
- You may not min/max any stats or edit any abilities at all
- You may not resurrect any party members

I'll start with Gwen, an Elven Priestess of Talos although I don't know how long she will live with her crippling low dexterity lol. She can barely equip herself and nearly takes her half an hour to do so. I took her first roll of 75, updates to come in the near future

Playing Planescape for the first time seriously

I'm going to tackle Planescape for the first time in my first serious attempt... I tried a few years back but really couldn't get into it. My love for the Infinity engine and black isle studios requires me to play this game to the end.

So - Any basic tips I should know about or pointers? Hopefully I can get a good interest level going.. :P

I built my guy like so

Tips on starting a new no-reload game?

I started a new no-reload game with a fighter/mage/thief and ended up getting trashed by that mage at the FOA. I was wondering if anybody had some advice on dealing with him.

While I'm not doing a solo playthrough, I didn't want to pick up xzar and montaron (good alignment) so I only had Imoen with me.

The problem was this: without cheesing by stealthing and just backstabbing the guy before he talks (I don't want to metagame) it was impossible to kill him before he casts charm and kills me due to the mirror image protection. Any ideas on how to deal with this? (would prefer tips that don't involve simply selecting a different class like an Inquisitor that's immune to charm)

Multiplayer locks up

I'm writing on behalf of my dad whom I bought the game for. He prefers being able to play with a fully-created group in Multiplayer to single game, however there is a problem that he routinely experiences while playing. Often, he will hear a "ding" and the mouse cursor will pop up indicating "wait" but the game basically freezes. Sometimes he can play a multiplayer game for 5 hours without a problem, but usually it happens within 10 minutes of his game time.

And no, he's not playing it with anybody else. He wants to play single-player, he just wants to be able to create his own party so that's why he's on multi-player.

We are using Windows 7 Ultimate and the mouse cursor looks like that of Chrome's if that may be the problem.

Repainted/edited portraits for Coran, Safana, Imoen, Rasaad, Dorn and female elf

Well, i've got new android tablet that supports wacom technology, so i decided to repaint/edit a few portraits of npc we all love and care about (or do not know who the hell are they anyway), in hopes to test its capabilities.

most of it is painting with some photo manipulation involved, to various extent. my aim was to produce portrait that would keep the familiar npc look, but also suited my vision, so you might disagree that following is improvement.
consider it just an experiment of mine that i'm contributing to community in case anybody else wants to use these.

so lets take a look, shall we?

first is coran, with :gasp: actual jaw! and not standing under a pony's tail (i'm afraid to think about the consequences of that). oh, and he has elf ears.

safana went through minor changes, resulting in more femme fatale (or simply: cheap) look, that IMO better suits her behaviour (i'm not suggesting non-skanks can't be seductive!).

i posted almost identical imoen before, this one is more painted and with few airbrush touches to make her slightly younger. i lessened static electricity so the main thing is she doesn't have a melon instead of hair. i like it the way it is so no big changes here. @Jalily you might take a look at this (as promised).

rasaad has more light to him and new nose, also added some jaw and shadows.

dorn is edited to better suit the cover for cosmopolitan :P. i also saturated and brightened colors on armor and sword, i think that will be better in small size onscreen.

everyone's crazy with buying new jaws and chins lately and this lady is no exception. what can i say? paint is somewhat visible, but i like it that way, so this is it for this bg1 version of aerie.

again, i edited these according to my taste, with various degrees of success, and my snarky comments on portraits do not in any way reflect my opinion (that is very high indeed) of artists who made them.

Just wanted to give forum members a heads-up on a really nice set of alternate portraits by a friend of mine.

I'm likely in the minority, but despite playing BG dozens of times over the years, I've always hated the original portraits. I don't want anime/manga style pictures, but I don't feel the inhabitants of the game should be grimacing, pox-ridden, wart-faced monstrosities either. Alora is a cute halfling, not a withered old hag. Coran should be a gorgeous ladies-man, not a warped Hall-of-Mirrors grotesquery. Even the ones that are not too hideous, like Imoen and Branwen's original portraits, are much too old for the characters they are supposed to portray. Branwen's not in her 40's, and Imoen is not a soccer mom, she's a perky teen, 17-18 tops.

Kaila's portraits are great - classic fantasy but not TOO fantastic. I don't think the anime look suits BG, and while I personally like the Boris Vallejo chainmail-bikini look, that doesn't suit BG either.

I think her reworkings of the classic characters are lovely, and accurate reflect the characters involved. We have Jahiera's trademark scowl, Xzar's unsettling stare and the bug-eyed weirdness of Tiax. Xan and Coran now actually look like high-charisma guys. The females are attractive without being airbrushed supermodels.

I love being able to play the game with a unified look and art style, whether I'm playing a MP party or recruiting NPCs. There's a full range here, familiars, gnomes, half-orcs, halflings, the lot.

Hope some of you find it useful anyway.

Ranged characters bug and alt tab bug

Need to expose 2 problematic bugs that i'm facing atm:

1° - Ranged characters in my party act normal only when i give direct commands.

Current behavior:

When a ranged character change his target by the use of the AI (after killing the previous target or for other reason), they all walk for a melee distance between their target, even when they have ranged weapons with ammunition at their hands.

Expected behavior:

The NPCs shoudn't walk to the enemy when using ranged weapons after change a target with the AI, they should attack their targets from the normal ranged distance of their weapons.


2° minimize the screen by alt+tab often lead to some interface problems.

Current behavior:

After i alt+tab the game and maximise it back, the mouse in the game got some bugs, sometimes the cursor appears with the symbol of the insurmountable path when i put it over the NPCs portraits, other times i can't use the below command interface, if i try to reach the character commands, in the moment my cursor touch it, the game start to push down the screen, making that part of the screen unreachable.

Expected behavior:

Not the current one.


Follow attached my chitin.key file (which i think replaces bgmain in BG EE), i changed it extension to .txt cos the attachment file resource doesn't allow me to attach a .key file, so just change it back. Also i send my actual game for test reasons.

Il mio problema è che la quest di Minsc e quella di recuperare la tizia che sta per essere mangiata(che poi è la stessa persona) sono ancora aperte. Ho provato anche a farli parlare insieme ma non si chiude.
È un bug o sapete se devo fare qualcosa di particolare?

@moderatori: potere per favore riaprirmi il thred della quest di Joseph che purtroppo ho da chiedere ancora un paio di cose, l'argomento è tutt'altro che chiuso :)

Como poner en MULTILENGUAJE la versión de Baldur's Gate EE del IPAD

He hecho lo siguiente:
1- He cogido el juego de Beamdogs de PC y me he copiado la carpeta ES_ES de LANG a mi ordenador.
2- He enchufado el IPAD (tengo mac) y he usado el programa iFunBox (que sirve para copiar archivos hacia/desde el ipad) y he copiado la caperta ES_ES en la carpeta LANG del baldurs de IPAD.
3.- Arracas el baldurs y en opciones ya sale LANGUAGE, eliges ESPAÑOL y te sales del juego.
4.- Vuelves a arrancar el baldurs y Voilá!!! está en castellano todo.

Conclusión: Si quisieran estos señores, sólo tendrían que copiar la carpeta del lenguaje en la versión que venden en la APPSTORE y tendríamos el juego en catellano. Cojones, a que esperan ???

Nota: Yo tengo el Ipad Jailbreakeado (aunque creo que no es imprescindible para hacer esto).

Per il momento sono in vendita solo armi da mischia, ma l'autore progetta di includere anche quelle da lancio nella prossima versione del mod. Descrizione: Questo mod permette di ritoccare a proprio piacimento numerosi aspetti di gioco. L'installazione vi permette di scegliere quali tra le seguenti opzioni installare:
- Rimozione delle icone degli incantesimi attivi dai ritratti dei personaggi;
- Possibilità per gli incantatori (maghi e stregoni) di utilizzare le clave;
- Possibilità di avere più relazioni d'amore contemporaneamente;
- Guadagno massimo di Punti Ferita al passaggio di livello;
- Cambiamento di allineamento di alcuni PNG;
- Rimozione di tutte le trappole presenti nel gioco;
- Lancio degli incantesimi con le animazioni di Icewind Dale;

Rogue Rebalancing

Descrizione: Questo mod è composto da numerose componenti, ciascuna delle quali è installabile separatamente. Lo scopo principale è quello di ritoccare diversi aspetti del gioco per renderli più affini al regolamento cartaceo di AD&D.
- Corretta implementazione dello stile di combattimento con due armi per bardi e ladri;
- Revisione delle sottoclassi del ladro;
- Revisione delle sottoclassi del bardo;
- Revisione delle Abilità di Alto Livello dei bardi ("HLA");
- Corretta tabella di progressione degli incantesimi del bardo;
- Revisione delle abilità di classe dei ladri;
- Applicazione dei corretti modificatori razziali alle abilità da ladro secondo le regole di AD&D;
- Applicazione delle regole di AD&D alle pozioni che conferiscono bonus alle abilita' da ladro e rendine gli effetti non cumulativi.

A ciò si aggiunge:
- Equipaggiamento addizionale per bardi e ladri (data la scarsità di oggetti per queste due classi);
- Incontro con i Prescelti di Cyric (un incontro che, a seconda delle proprie scelte, può tradursi in un avvincente combattimento o in un confronto dialettico dal crescendo wagneriano);
- Miglioramenti ai Ladri delle Ombre (nel senso che il loro equipaggiamento e i loro script di combattimento vengono migliorati per rendere più avvincente un eventuale scontro).

I tried playing through the tutorial for BGEE, as I've never played BG before, but I felt I wasn't understanding the instructions very well. I stumbled around the menus and eventually got my way through it but I'm feeling more confused then I did before I started. Spellcasters, how do they work?

I wanted to make a spellcaster for my first playthrough, but they seem complicated. All this stuff about memorization and meditating or resting before being able to use spells, and then I could only use that spell once before needing to rest for 8 hours. It seemed like a big headache so I tried out a Fighter instead. It's been alright but I find it a little boring? At the moment I'm bleeding my way through the Nashkel mines with little to no idea of anything that's going on. I just know Xzar and Khalid and his wife want to be here, and since Gorion told me to find Khalid I figured I'd just follow him. I've no idea who I'm supposed to be or who Gorion is or why I'm doing anything at all. I'm under the assunption I'm just supposed to learn as I go, so I've been trying to just bear through it in hopes everything will be made a bit clearer as I go. Next thing I know Xzar and Khalid start freaking out at each other and now Xzar is dead and his minion friend left us to die in the mines. I loved how that can happen though in the game, how the companions interact with one another like that, and it's got me excited to keep playing.

Maybe it's just the game, not the class, no offense to anyone out there. I've heard this is an amazing game and I enjoy reading about it a lot, but it's very complicated and maybe I'm not enjoying it because I simply don't know what's going on. I just find it a little underwhelming since all I'm doing is pausing the game and then assigning targets to my characters. I can barely tell what it is I'm attacking, or what class the humanoids I'm attacking are, or anything really. I realize that the darkening of a character's portrait signifies their health but other than that, I feel very, very lost, and am struggling to enjoy the game.

Any estimate on when multiplayer will work as was advertised?

Dear Overhaul/Beamdog.

It would be great if the game actually had the functional multiplayer that was promised, which was the #1 reason I purchased BG:EE.

Multiplayer should not require the use of Hamachi and it obviously shouldn't have extremely annoying bugs such as attack animation craziness or random commoners randomly appearing in random locations at random times. I know the bugs are slowly getting ironed out but at the rate this is going ... well, put emphasis on slowly.

I understand it is not simple to just fix it, but when the game was advertised to have a vastly improved multiplayer compared to vanilla, it is somewhat annoying that it is still not out of the so-called "beta" stage.

I know your resources are limited and you are busy fixing and improving various other issues with the game as well, but please tell me that multiplayer for BG:EE will be sorted out before BG2:EE rolls out.

A lot of the things you are fixing are fun and unique and are a part of what made BG2 what it was. If you were trying to have an exact copy of BG1 you wouldn't have all these kits and things in the game.

Perfect example is not being able to throw Bounty Hunter traps. I mean come on that was fun and a unique thing for the class. No reason to change that.

I mean I guess it's nice to be able to say you fixed 2000 bugs or whatever but how about you keep the fun stuff that has been in the game for 14 years now in the game and work on real bugs.

Please change that back. Thanks.

Mi sembra cosa carina inaugurare una discussione in cui presentare i PG con cui ci cimenteremo in questa fantastica avventura... E che magari ci importeremo in BGII:EE!

Comincio io, chiedendo un consiglio...

Ho deciso che voglio giocare un mago, ma non so che specialità prendere. Premetto che voglio farlo Legale Neutrale... Semplicemente perché è l'allinamento che meglio mi rappresenta, e voglio immedersimarmi in tutto e per tutto nel mio CHARNAME!
Ora, essenzialmente sono indeciso tra evocatore, invocatore (è così in italiano??) e negromante.

Il primo mi lascia un po' perplesso perché nel gioco si trova già Edwin che ha la stessa classe ed è di per sé fortissimo. Considerando che cercherò di tenere la reputazione neutrale in modo da non avere troppi problemi con gli NPC, penso che il posto da evocatore sia già preso da lui.

Tra gli altri due, è una dura lotta! Sinceramente pensavo più ad un Invoker, ma scorrendo la lista delle magie devo dire che anche il Negromante ha una bella scelta!

Voi che consigliate??

The Rage mage, it's a prestige class in 3rd edition. Basically the class was a cross between a barbarian and a mage with the ability to go into a spellrage that increased his spell power in a similar way rage increases melee damage. I really liked this alternative concept in a fighter/mage, and would like to see it included in the game as a kit. I'll admit it's overpower compared to the typical 2e kit structure, but I love the uniqueness.. I would include it as a barbarian kit that essentially make you into a muti-class barbarian/mage including meeting a minimum intelligence score. You would have to earn the experience as a multi-class character as well, and you would likely get diminished spell cast (say 1 less spell per level). I'll list the rage mage abilities.

2nd overcome spell failure
3rd Spell Rage 1/day

Spell rage allows you to cast spells while raging on top of that the spell is more difficult to save against the rage mages spells while he's raging.

Overcome spell failure allows you to spell cast in leather armor.

With Spell fury you can cast a spell quicker while in a spell rage.

With Warrior cry once per day you may cast the spell tenser's transformation.

It's a long shot but I always wanted to play this class in a video game format if it's at all possible. My idea was for a tiefling rage mage, but since teiflings aren't implemented I would except human or half-elf.

Eldritch Knight: Sorcerer Kit v1

Hi guys, this is my first publicly released mod (possibly also the first Sorcerer kit mod for BG:EE). It requires the teambg HLA mod for it to work otherwise it's just an ordinary Sorcerer with a couple of drawbacks (one negligible, the other rather nasty in BG1)

The Eldritch Knight

Trained from an early age to wield with equal proficiency both their innate sorcerous skills and a variety of weaponry, the Eldritch Knight is a powerful force on the battlefield. However, despite their great versatility, the Eldritch Knight is typically somewhat less hardy than a typical warrior. While experience can overcome these difficulties, this drawback often leads beginners in the trade to meet an untimely demise. Furthermore, the heady combination of physical strength and magical might possessed by an Eldritch Knight often causes them to be a little foolhardy.

Advantages:

-Can become proficient in any weapon and specialised in any fighting style.
-Can attain standard Mastery (not High Mastery or Grandmastery) in quarterstaves, longswords, two-handed swords and spears.
-Damage increases every two levels until level 25, at which point it increases after every fifth level.
-AC decreases every two levels until level 25, at which point it decreases after every fifth level.
-Gains 1 additional Constitution point at level 7, another at level 14.
-Can use any item.

Disadvantages:

-Takes a -2 penalty to Constitution.
-Takes a -1 penalty to Wisdom.

It's basically the sorcerous equivalent to the Swashbuckler. Please note that it should still be impossible to cast in heavy armor, so elven chainmail or Robe of the Archmagi will be as good as it gets there. Although UAI (only easy way to give a Sorcerer access to fighter gear) will have some unintended consequences in BG2 (Carsomyr), I don't feel it's gamebreaking, especially as it still relies on the Sorcerer's pathetic hitdice. In fact, my playtesting suggests that Fighter/Mages are still quite a bit better-although I confess that I'm a lot better playing as a standard mage than I am as a Sorcerer.

I really hope you guys enjoy this-without further ado, here's the mod!

Beta Version has a host of bonus abilities such as Dispel Magic, Kai and many overpowered immunities (I was just testing if all the spcl codes worked). Only use if you find the game incredibly hard normally or you like the idea of the Bhaalspawn utterly outclassing everything else in the universe..

Margret Thatcher. Political heavyweight. Longest serving British Prime minister in modern times. The Iron Lady, has sadly passed away.

A fitting memorial could be that she enters the world of BG:EE as an NPC!

She was such a character that turning her into a character for BG:EE would be easy...

She would be a Paladin, a Cavalier, because she was fearless (took on the Argentine Junta (who decided that Maggie didn't have the balls to do anything about the Falklands)), Immune to charm ("This lady is not for turning!" was a famous quote of hers). The other immunities are fitting as she also survived several bombs sent her way by the IRA.

She would have specialization in halberds. (Less Poll Tax more Pole-Axe)

She would have a special hatred against all miners, for what they have done to the Iron... and you see alot in BG!

She would be THE IRON LADY, clad in full plate.

Charisma would be 19, but would be very decisive. She should be able to get into arguments with every NPC, and fight anyone who didn't agree with her.

Her alignment should be Chaotic Good, although. She tried to do the best for the country, however she never followed the consensus, so divided opinion. I understand this is not normally possible for a Paladin. This along with the 19 charisma would be oddball element you can only get with an NPC (like Corans 20 in Dex for example).

So... What do you think?
