More Persistent +Spell Weapons

$

Here is a little mod I made on a lark with new trick I learned. Ever switch to a missile weapon while wielding a Mage Dagger or Sanctified War Hammer, and get that sinking feeling because you just lost your extra spell slots? This should fix that. Now, you have a 30-second grace period after unequipping the weapon, before your spell slots disappear.

https://github.com/UnearthedArcana/spell_weapons/releases

As a technical matter what actually happens is, the game checks every 30 seconds after you equip the weapon, to see if you still have it equipped. If you do not, it starts a secondary timer and checks again 30 seconds later. If you still don't have the weapon equipped at this secondary check, your bonus spell slots disappear. So you actually have between 30 and 60 seconds from the moment you unequip the weapon. But at least 30.

Cheers.

Here's a link to a mod shell so that you can make your own soundset collections with subtitles

Awesome Soundsets Vol. 0 Soundset Mod Shell
image

If you enjoyed any of the soundsets and you do not already own the game that the soundsets come from, you are largely encouraged to buy the related games, both because they're excellent games on their own, and because this way you're giving something back to the game developer.
If you are interested in contributing to these mods or have suggestions, please post below

"Awesome Soundsets" Volumes feature up to 33 sounds w/ subtitles in IWDEE, 25 in BGEE, and 29 in BG2EE. The default soundsets in IWDEE feature 25/33 sounds and BGEE default soundsets only use 15/25 sounds. Soundsets added with this mod use up to the maximum number of sounds - depending on if appropriate sounds are available.

The weidu installer will install the correct number of sounds possible with subtitles for each different installation. Using weidu you can also add and remove individual soundsets as you like.

This thread can be used to request soundsets, commentary, to report problems or even just to let me know that you like these.

Any way to change XP reward distribution?

$

Hi, is there any way to change the amount of xp charname takes out of all kills and quests. I guess "Quest experience points" would be excluded.

So, say I finish a quest or kill a monster and the party of 5 is given 700xp. Usually it is split evenly and everyone would get 140xp, charname and each of the NPCs. Can I change the distribution so charname gets 300xp and each of the NPCs gets 100xp? Or alternatively, just increase the amount charname takes - so out of 700xp the NPCs would get 140xp each, but charname would get 420xp (three times the amount allocated to it) even though the sum exceeds the 700?

I know I could do that manually through the console by adding xp to charname but I'm looking for something that would do it automatically. I'd like to have a go with FMT charname that wouldn't fall far behind the rest of the party in ToB.

Give me a class

So after having various discussions in other threads and getting different points of views, I have decided to leave it to the community (as another user did) to choose my class for me. I will attempt to solo the game (though it is not a no-reload challenge, it is just something I want to do in my free time for fun).

I have compiled a shortlist of classes that I have never really played much of before, OR classes that are traditionally considered a challenge to solo with.

Feel free to leave any additional comments if you like. Thanks for your help!

THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED. JESTER HAS WON WITH 8 VOTES.

Custom Content Thread - The Road to Solving the decades old problem

$

Now from what I've seen & read over the years that many modders have hit the wall when it comes to custom content. Where it be creatures, maps, spells, and other misc. work. Most of the modders are forced to use recycled material, and I can't help, but wonder..."does it have to be that way"?

So I decided why not create a thread where we can solve this issue for many of the aging mods that would require it? Where can we find Artist resources, how much will it cost or is the person willing to work for free on it? How many communities out there could work in collaboration to help with mods?

This thread will help bounce around ideas, and solutions.

One solution is possibly work with the Modders over at the Neverwinter Nights Vault, they are currently still active, and have a lot modding experience under their belt. It is possible they could tinker around with the infinity engine to see what can be done, and what cannot be done with their experience in creature modeling, and object modeling (such as desks, chests, etc).

Personally I would love to see the Forest of Lost Souls from Darkside of the Sword Coast turn into one of the most creepy looking forests one day.

BG/BG2/ToB Un-nerfed Items?

$

I might be missing something... I did a scan through the forums and tried looking up some keywords but was unable to find what I was looking for.

I've never been a fan of the fact that a lot of iconic BG items were nerfed.
For balance, it may have made sense.
But I enjoyed having Twinkle as a +5 weapon (especially from a true-to-lore perspective) or having a grossly powerful axe for Korgan (Axe of the Unyielding... which still didn't feel as OP as some other existing items).

Is there a mod out there that can restore these old statistics to these classic items?

is fair fight possible at all if magic used

This thing has been bugging me for a long time, longer than I care to remember - some kind of concept of honorable combat, origins probably in Dragonlance´s Sturm´s moustache.

More often than I care to count my party is under crowd control, which while soloing usually means game over. Since such a thing is a nuisance, veritable party killer,

I tend to end up picking spells like Hold Person etc, because the seem so powerful and make the game in general a race of who casts first and moreso who fails save first.

I´m intrigued by wizard slayers and inquisitors, and a playthrough without magic, but I´m left oftentimes to ponder how on earth such a set up will deal with damage if clerics and mages are left out of the party?

Is it truly vainglory that I´m after, or some unbearable headache?

Questions about the party building (please avoid too much of spoilers)

So my playtrough on the hardest possible difficulty + SCS on the stage where my avatar is need to build a party (right after the start location is explored).
I have some difficult to make a choice:

1) China Monk (Rashaad) - of course my party is need for a char with a cold head, and which will have no hesitation when the time to protect the innocents and stop the evil will come. Rashaad must be.

2) Well, my party is need somebody who can open locks, search for traps, etc - I have a little choice, Garrick or Safana - well I don't like them both (coz' I don't like thieves that hurting innocent NPC, liers etc), but my choices torched into this Safana, at least she is a real Thief but not a song-singer like a Garrick (I have nothing against bards, but in this case Thief has won).

But whom I need to take with my avatar next? Those neutral guys - Khalid and Jaheira, well obviously my party is need fo' healer! And both, Jaheira and Khalid showed their competence in the time when I have horrific battles in BG1:EE, such as against overpowered skeleton in the Ulcaster' Skool, or those killing machine - Aec'Latex (my party from BG1:EE - Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, China monk, and the Knight forgot his name).
But what about those Denaheira and Minsk and Boo, of course the are formidable, and well concerned against evil and injustice (especially Boo :P), but I don't know. In addition my party laready have not so bad magician - Diviner (Avatar), of course two magicians is a horrific power! But I don't want to make a life of Denaheira and her friends so hard, and I don't want to grab them into danger along with my avatar (well I know what will happens in BG2, but still... they deserves a moment of peace.), in addition only Denaheira have a "cold enough" head, I have nothing against Minsk and Boo, but they both, little bit, ... they both have a small amount of temptation.

If I will take Safana + Rashaad, I have only three places left, so + Jaheira and Khalid, and the only one place is left. I hope I will meet somebody formidable for this place. Corwin (Like a Corben Dallas from the "5th Element" lol..) is a very strong indeed, and the soldier that concerned on her duty is right what I need for my avatar's mission! Too poor that she is not recruitable. Her skills with a bow, showed it's effectiveness when my avatar Safana and Corwin has been attacked by thieves on the city streets where my magician cannot use a single spell! due to danger to harm innocents.. that was horrific fight, in addition this civilian NPC many-many times blocked my avatar's way = reload :( coz my avatar usually falls after 1-2 hits. Anyway 5x "Wand of Fear" + 1x "Detect Invisibility" + lot of Corwin's arrows, and nobody has been harmed except those attackers - this soldier was indeed a very effective and.

Bit of fun. 3 clues. First person to get it right sets the next one.

3) If you kill me my papa will cry. But if you kill him, I don't care!

Could any1 give me a walktrough on golem construction? Im playing single run FMT at hardest difficulty, so i dont care about random creatures giving like 65xp, since a there is bloody skeletons with 50% slashing resistance everywhere i just follow a guide and go stright to targets to save time, so i dont explore all ^^ Killing skeletons and random mobs takes to much time.

So if any1 played golem construction mod, plz let me know where to find the correct parts, where to find the book and where to make them? Remember spoilers or PM ^^ BGEE atm. I got a bunch of body parts atm xD

Good cheese infinite XP farm location?

Hi guys,

I've recently got the EE editions and sill haven't reached BG2.

But I'm trying to theory craft my character. My goal is strong solo-able wild mage(maybe even with SCS). I'm already soloing BG1 on insanity(durlag cleared). So i want to have a plan for fast infinite xp as soon as i hit BG2, in case "sh*t gets real, i need more levels".

I've found in bg1 that such location is the light house and its Sirines after resting - lay skull traps in a circle, wait rapidly to get a spawn of 20-30 sirines, they die instantly from the skull traps, repeat. And that method is extremely fast for bg1(level 1-9 in around 30 minutes, counting that level 5 is required for skull traps).

Is there such equivaent in SoA? Especialy at early levels?

Console Commands for Fast Quest Progression

$
0
0
*****Spoiler Alert*****
Tired of searching 90 different threads for solutions to some common bugs and console commands to speed up NPC quests, so for your pleasure here's my current list all in 1 place:

BG2 EE SoA Console commands for fast quest progression:

Multiple Strongholds Mod causing Unseeing Eye not to be offered. Short version is after you listen to Gaal's speech in the temple district a priest is supposed to approach you and ask you to come to their temple, once inside they give you the Unseeing Eye (beholder) quest. Multiple Strongholds Mod seems to prevent you getting the priest to automatically spawn, so you need to console the correct one based on your alignment.

Evil - C:CreateCreature("BHNALLA")
Neutral - C:CreateCreature("bhoisig")
Good - C:CreateCreature("bharval")

Follow created Priest to relevant Temple for quest to be offered.

Anomen Dead Sister Quest Messenger:

C:SetGlobal("SpawnTerl","Global",1) Should make him spawn, i had some glitches with using C:CreateCreature("Terl") Gave quest but game started to lag out as if the party was constantly trying to go back to speak to him, so advise 1st command.

Once the sister issue has been resolved, trigger Anomens Judgement with
C:CreateCreature("kayl1") he'll be asked to attend the temple and either be Knighted or enraged depending on the resolution.

Jaheira Quests:

Enter the downstairs part of the Sea's Bounty Tavern in Docks District and Baron Ployer will curse her, should not need any console commands to speed this up, but worth noting that the Disease she is inflicted with which usually requires 3x 8 Hr rests to cure after the quest is finished, but can be Bypassed by using the Harpers Hold quest. She will leave the party after Dermin appears for the 2nd time and you rest outside, the part where you get the note, when you rescue her from the Harpers compound she rejoins w/o the disease. This is merely a suggestion to save you wasting a "game day" on resting when you have to rest once for her to leave and get the note anyway as part of the Harpers Hold quest chain.

Harpers Hold console commands:

Need to be outside, not in the city for the following to work, usually do it in D'Arnise Keep area since it's closest.

C:SetGlobal("DerminAppear","GLOBAL",1) Should work every time you need him to turn up, assuming previous steps completed.

C:SetGlobal("RevianeAppear","GLOBAL",1)

C:SetGlobal("TerminselAppear","GLOBAL",1) to avoid him taking forever to turn up for the final step. Be warned your Reputation will determine whether she gets the Harper Pin + XP reward, rep can be a lot lower if you are romancing, i believe 10+ for Romance, 16+ otherwise.

Edwin Quests:

C:SetGlobal("EdwinScroll","GLOBAL",1) to trigger both steps of the scroll decyphering. 1st for Xp then 2nd time for him to become Edwina.

C:SetGlobal("DegardanSpawn","GLOBAL",1) Again repeat twice, 1st time he appears do not betray Edwin, 2nd time he turns Edwin back who then attacks him.

Jan Quest:

C:CreateCreature("beeloo") Should be all you need to start the quest.

Mazzy Quest:

This can be a bit glitchy, perhaps depending on whether you have her in the party when you kill the Shade Lord or come back after to free her. Apparently Danno will not show up in some areas, i usually go to Trademeet or Imnesvale.

C:SetGlobal("DannoBeginsPalaPlot","GLOBAL",1)
C:SetGlobal("Pala","GLOBAL",0)
C:SetGlobal("SpawnDanno","GLOBAL",0)
C:SetGlobal("SpawnDannoTimer","GLOBAL",1)
After this you *may* need to spawn danno C:CreateCreature("Danno") if he doesn't appear automatically.

Nalia Quest:

C:CreateCreature("naliames") to get funeral request
C:CreateCreature("Isaea") to get her abducted

Dorn Quest:

C:SetGlobal("OHD_terpfendlg","GLOBAL",2) Should get him to start the quest to find the Helm camp after you have ruined the wedding for the 1st part of his quest.

Hexxat Quest:

Damn i hate this chicks quest, so many bugs and long waits...

After you free her and she rejoins at the Copper Coronet, Cabrina is *supposed* to show up at night, in Athkatla (possibly not the Graveyard district)

C:CreateCreature("ohhcabri") will spawn her, but she doesn't always interact if you use that.
C:SetGlobal("ohh_cabrinatimer","GLOBAL",1) may work if the above line doesn't.
C:SetGlobal("Ohh_Cabrina","GLOBAL",1) may be needed before you spawn her.

After completing the Leopards Claw Quest she is supposed to turn up after a week, again, in Athkatla, at night, possibly not in the Graveyard. Getting her to appear and actually take the fuggin claw w/o waiting required much trial and error.

C:SetGlobal("Ohh_Cabrina","GLOBAL",6) Appeared to be the correct flag to get her to take the claw and offer the Shroud of the Undying quest.
C:CreateCreature("ohhcabri") once again to get her to appear after you've set the flag.

Cabrina should turn up at the Copper Coronet to take the Shroud and finish SoA Hexxat's quests.

Notes on other quests:

Plenty of others have time requirements, but messing about with the Global Variables can cause many problems not immediately apparent potentially leading to crashes or corrupt files.

Some issues i have found are with the Ranger Stronghold quest, possibly because i tend to play Evil Characters and even with the Multiple Stronghold patch, and even if i do all the "good" options, it will just remove the stronghold from me w/o any warning. 1st i know of it is when i go back to see if the Mayor has a new quest for me since there is a known issue with the Child appearing then walking straight off w/o interacting with the party, instead of telling you to come back to Imnesvale to help them. I spent ages trying to console back my Cabin so i could finish the quest line w/o success, i read that it can be a good idea to simply chain-rest w/o leaving the Village until you get the complete quest line finished as a possible alternative if this keeps happening, and you are lucky enough to have kept an earlier save.

Personally i have never had a problem with the Paladin Stronghold, even being Evil, but as a rule i prefer to complete Anomen's and Dorn's quests before i get it, just incase either of their quest lines get bugged or it messes things up with the Stronghold.

Neera's quest has a few issues, you need to make sure you accept her into the party when you meet her in the Hidden Forest, otherwise you can't get into the Hidden Refuge. The implication from the text options are that you clear the Forest on your own and meet her there...not the case, at least not w/o massive console command tweaking.

The Where's Wilson quest from the Hidden Refuge is actually completed during Rasaads quest line, which you have to complete fully, and given that the Refuge quests cannot be handed in after the Attack by the Order it kinda means you need to bring Neera and Rasaad along for Rasaads quest, if you want to complete Where's Wilson anyway.

All other quests that i have not mentioned either do not have timers or console commands required, at least not in my experience.

Obviously there is a huge amount that you can do with the console commands, but this list is merely to help players like me who wish to know how to speed through time consuming NPC quests so they get the sense of completion, but w/o the often ludicrous waiting to do the quests "legitimately".

If i miss-typed anything or some commands are wrong let me know and i'll Edit.

Kitties aside, it's time for rules. Let me see, here...

Keep It Clean-ish: Let's keep this thread PG-13.

Don't Spoil The Fun!: As far as spoilers go, well, it'd be mighty fine if you could put spoiler tags ( [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] , without the spaces) around such things, so people new to this game in need of a quick giggle don't get spoiled like I did on Wikipedia in 2006. :( Now I regard spoilers twice as much.
Play Nice: Like Alora says, "Careful, everyone, play nice!". This is a "space" for us to have fun. Let's play nice, and not bait or antagonize (troll) others.
Something Is Wrong, Here...: SCARY_WIZARD thinks you should contact some moderators if a rule appears to have been broken. Logging On = 1 equivalent in Baldur.lua?

I've recently hit a bug in SoD where the game crashes to desktop when I rest or when I travel to another location, save and then load that save. I have a lot of mods installed so I don't have much hope of anybody being able to diagnose my problem but I've read that in the past people could add the line Logging On = 1 under program options in Baldur.ini to generate a .err file and .log file with information about what the game was doing before a crash.

I've tried adding the line SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Logging On','1') to Baldur.lua but this doesn't seem to help. Is there a way to generate some kind of error log other than the standard .dmp which doesn't tell me anything useful? It would be nice to possibly determine which mod, if any, is causing my problems.

Which deity does Glint follow? (No spoilers please)

I haven't played through SoD yet, but from what I've seen at the very beginning, Glint says something about worshipping Baravar Cloakshadow. But someone said his belt is a holy object of Mask?

A mod I'm working on is going to assign Glint a kit... which deity should the kit be for?
