Consejos para un novato?

Hola, me acabo de empezar el juego en la versión mac. Llevo un par de horas y me parece demasiado difícil. Soy un mago salvaje, mi personaje no es capaz de subir de nivel y eso que he tendió varias batallas y no puedo lanzar más de 2 magias después de descansar, tengo en el grupo a otra maga un guerrero, una guerrera y una arquera. Los magos son inútiles y los otros personajes no son capaces de mantener el tipo cuando hay una orda de enemigos o enemigos tochos. Y es que actualmente en nivel 1 cualquier enemigo es demasiado tocho.

Algún consejo? Forma de subir de nivel? El guerrero me subió con 2000 puntos de experiencia a nivel 2, pero los demás personajes suben lentamente, teniendo sólo unos 500.

Gioco ancora a Baldur's Gate 2. Adoro questo gioco, ma l'adattamento Italiano è in qualche modo di qualità scarsa. Ci sono molti errori nei testi.
Alcuni esempi:
- Imoen ha un file audio inglese durante la conversazione con Irenicus che avviene prima che CHARNAME entra a Spellhold
- Alcune linee sbagliate, risposte doppie con effetti differenti, ad esempio durante il primo o secondo dialogo dentro al labirinto di Bodhi
- Molti, molti errori di genere sessuale durante le frasi. Frasi che si riferiscono ad una donna (ad esempio un PNG che parla di sé), redatte come se si stesse parlando di un uomo.
Questi sono solo alcuni degli esempi, ma un controllo completo delle linee sarebbe decisamente apprezzato

Hello everyone,
I still play Baldur's Gate 2. I love this game, but the Italian adaption is somehow lacking. There are many text errors in the game.
Some examples:
- Imoen has an english audio during a conversation with Irenicus before CHARNAME enters Spellhold.
- Some wrong lines, double answers with different effect, during the first or second dialogue inside Bodhi's Maze.
- Many, many gender errors in the phrases. There are lines which refer to a female (even some NPC who are talking about themselves), but are "spoken" like the subject is a male.
These are only some example, but a thoughout control of the lines would be much appreciated.

I finished the Isle of Balduran quest, including killing Mendas. The other party members still turn into werewolves. This will happen to every NPC, even ones who were not on the island. Once the transformation begins, every character I recruit transforms. Expected: lycanthropy should go away with killing Mendas and NPCs who were not on the island should not be affected.

I am playing multiplayer mode on an iPad using version 1.0.2012

Took me a while to come up with this list and place them accordingly. Honorable mentions are for Diablo 2 and GTA Vice City. I am a Gamer stuck in the 2005ish era and haven't grown up much ^^

1. Baldurs Gate 1&2 for the PC
2. Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne for the PC

Complete (?) quest entry buglist v0.4599
This is based on my playtrough. It contains mainly quest entry and quest realted bugs and some other useful things. I didn't checked the "normal" journal problems though there are a lot of them too like inconsistencies, and date problem not to mention the scrolling mechanism. I also wrote some advices

Note: If I wrote "OK" to a quest it doesn't mean I cheked all the possible solutions. I tried to do all the quests but there is always a possibility that I missed some.

Some of the entries in the "quest" section aren't in order. For example in the "Laerta and Louise" the first entry is about Old Gervisse which is illogical since you can't talk him before you talked the girls. And the entry about talking the girls is just the second. Unfortunately I could not write these bugs because most of the quests are gone after they are finished.

Reactivation= quest entries reappear after the quest is already finished. (talking with npcs, hearing rumours etc.) There is much more of this type of bug, but I cannot get all of them.

Prologue:
Dreppin's Cow: OK

Chapter One:
Mirianne's Husband: no "done quest" entry (it's in the journal section)

A Fair Reward: OK (was this the quest's name too?)
Joia's Flamedance Ring: OK
Landrin and the Spiders: All the Landrin related quests have they own entries (Landrin's Husband's Old Boots, Landrin's Wine) Suggestion: One title would enough with three possible entries and the quest should finish only with when all the items are collected.

Chapter Two:
Oublek the Bounty Officer: probably bugged entries if you kill Brage, maybe it should be merged with "Prism the Sculptor"

Popup scrolls can act funny when the screen becomes black
Theoretical bug (but tested): clerics with high wisdom (19+) and high level (18+) and with a single Ring of Holiness are able to get more than 12 slots, so you can have invisible slots just like with a mage coud with two ring on wizardrys in original BG
Many weapons have bad bonus settings. Try to hit the Rakshasa and see.

The Baldur's Gate Saga Cries for a Good Aligned Gnome

This is a selfish Feature request (sorry) and is more of a plea!

After going on 14 years I still just can't believe there's not a Good Aligned gnome to be found in Baldur's Gate or its sequel. Most gnomes are Good Aligned in AD&D and are quirky, fun characters to be around. While Tiax is quirky and fun in a different way, Quayle is just annoying and both are evil and neutral respectively. I'm not sure if there's any future plans for adding NPCs or if the 4 we have is what we get (I'm sure voice acting gets expensive) but a good-hearted gnome would be a great thing to consider. Recommendations: Fighter/Illusionist or Illusionist/Thief. :-)

Super Ultimate Portrait Pack

The Super Ultimate Portrait Pack is the successor to the original Ultimate Portrait Pack for Baldur's Gate I & II (BGI & BGII). With the release of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (BG:EE) all portrait sizes were slightly increased. If you resized older portraits formatted for the older BGI & BGII games it is likely they became blurry and hard to look it.

To rectify this I created found all the source images and resized the original source images using Photoshop's best algorithm for reduction. The end result was clear and detailed portraits. I attempted to convert all the most popular portraits from the original Ultimate Portrait Pack - however a few source images I was not able to find. Besides that I added tons of new portraits not in the last portrait packs.

The no reload challenge (spoiler warning)

One of the most fun thing to do in BG is to play with no reload.

The point of the thread is for you to describe your attempts (failed or successful)

I'll start with mine (i just list the significative attempts, not the ones in which i died after 5 minutes). All these playthrough were on core rules difficulty (save for leveling, to get max hp)

- Fighter/mage/thief. Solo. Died in baldur's gate (level 5/5/6) from the mages upstairs of the magical shop (forgot their were casting horror...)
- Berserker. Solo. Died at level 6 from an ankheg, ambushing me while resting
- Inquisitor. In group of 4 (imoen, minsc, viconia). Still in progress (in cloakwoods)
- Berserker / mage (dual 7/8). Solo. Sill in progress (in catacombs at candlekeep). I should succeed it with this one (unless i do something dumb), as he is now 7/8 and almost unkillable (berserker kit is awesome)

My next try will be a solo sorcerer.

Some advices for those who want to try it :
- i find solo play easier than group play (as defense is paramount in no reload, and much easier to get on one character than on 6)
- very good knowledge of the game is necessary.
- when playing solo, never roll to save against a deadly effect (paralysis, horror, charm....) -> you need to get immunities (potions, items, abilities,spells) or you will die.
- always have an invisibility potion ready, as a panic button






Reputation Caps for Character Recruitment

Credit to @Bigfish for the suggestion. What do people think of a reputation cap rather than a reputation penalty on recruitment of certain characters such as Viconia and Dorn?

So for example if you recruit Viconia your reputation could never go above 18. If you recruit both Viconia and Dorn reputation cannot go above 16. So it would just be a -2 to the maximum possible for each character. On removal of the person the penalty would disappear. I imagine this would make handling reputation to keep evil characters happy somewhat better?

At the suggestion of @Aosaw, this thread will be used to post updates (as and when I have time), looking into bug reports, and a host of other things.



The program can be found here, and this post will be updated with new links when a new version is ready. This PDF document details the programs' usage, it will only be required for people who are new to this program and don't understand how to use it. The source code can be found over on SourceForge. You will need to log in to SourceForge in order to view. The Visual Studio solution is for VS2012, so you will need that in order to do anything (or you could make a quick edit to the solution so it will load in older versions).

EE Keeper* uses MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class), which means that you will need a standard version of Visual Studio, rather than an express version. Even if you don't, but you have programming knowledge and would like to help, then over the course of the next few months the plan I have is to convert all the code to be Unicode friendly. The second part of the plan is to convert to Win32 or (better yet) use Qt or wxWidgets to make it cross-platform friendly. Either way, feel free to post your coding suggestions. I will also be taking suggestions, but please keep them realistic. I don't have a lot of time to spare on this project and so any suggestions will likely take weeks or months to implement; keep them short and sweet, modifications to the UI, tweaks, etc.

*I'm open to a new name, since that's only a temporary name I thought up. Other possible names include, but are not limited to: BEEKeeper, bGEEKeeper, Gate Keeper:EE.

The current version is 1.0.1.0. After having it tested by a number of people ( @Mikaal, @mlnevese, @swnmcmlxi, @Aosaw, @AHF, @Isaya, @Kunikos, @Anton, @ermo, @Erg ), I can now say that it works on XP SP2 to Windows 8. I will work on it when I get time, but right now updates will be few and only occasional.

Some trials on Mac via Wineskin, by @Nifft, have been done and it seems to work, depending on the version - it will be up to others to help with that should any issues arise. More details here.

As a final note: just because a new thread is made, and the release is more of a Live/REL version, it doesn't mean that the program is bug free, nor does it mean that I won't be tweaking it any more (I will). If you come across any issues, or you are in doubt over something, feel free to post and either myself of some other helpful community member will try to help overcome it :).

Stalker or Fighter/Thief?

Hi guys. Its simple. I want a stelthy-backstabber + combat effective class. The idea is to play solo (and in multiplay) all the way to ToB and BG3 if it ever comes out.

I have some experience with Illusionist/Thief but his THAC0 sucks very much which makes him almost useless after making backstab. I want to be able to finish off opponents quickly after stepping from shadows. So the point is to make my battles a little bit versatile and not just backstab and run (I get burned out from that).

I'm not sure how much of a benefit will be those few mage spells after I get my hands on some powerful magic res. items and boots of speed.

Any thoughts?

I'm very interested in sub races, and as stated before, the aasimar and tiefling races! I was wondering what classes would be available to them and what their stat bonuses might be.

What I saw functioning well on other fora and what I hope functions well here too, is a topic to get things that trouble you, make you down, keeps you worried and just want to vent off your chest. Nice replies are welcome, though just getting things off your chest is good to. Let's refrain from full debates though, that would derail the topic.


My spleen: tomorrow is the big release day, but I have the flu right now, feeling very tired and ill and not fit enough for gaming. If my condition is the same tomorrow, I'll feel too miserable to take a new CHARNAME on an adventure of the Enhanced Swordcoast (now! new Enhanced Swordcoast! with Wild Mages and Evil Blackguards! but please can somebody give me a potion of healing or cast a Cure Disease on me).

The Ethics of Opening a Door

Dear Bhaalspawn, if you are roleplaying a lawful good character do you believe that it is ethically or morally correct to unlock a locked door to a house for example in Beregost or Nashkel?

While the action could be perceived as a thief breaking into a house, the conundrum is in some circumstances you then receive a quest that if completed provides benefits to the inhabitants of those houses e.g. finding Joseph's ring for example.

Thoughts & opinions welcome!

Make Clubs, Quarterstaves, and Other Useful Items Sellable for 1gp

Got this idea from one of the Icewind Dale mods made by @Camdawg

Certain items are trash (the Spider Body from Landrin's quest for example) and they should have no value. That being said, a club or a quarterstaff having no value doesn't make sense to me. You can buy them, I don't see why you couldn't sell them for at least 1 gold. The merchant would certainly make a profit on it, and its better then you throwing it on the ground.

[BUG] Firebead Elvenhair No Longer Gives Quest in Beregost Post v1.0.2014

I've searched, and I only found reports of the Firebead and Tethtoril bug in Candlekeep.

I've tried in 3 saved games, and Firebead no longer gives the quest to fetch him a copy of History of the Fateful Coin in Beregost.

When you go into his house, all he says is: "Ah, next time you pass through Candlekeep, you should read the "History of the Bell in the Depths." It is an old favorite of mine that I'm sure you would like."

This also means that there's no way to get the scroll case anymore.


[EDIT] If you have Shadowkeeper, this can be fixed by deleting the Global variable "TALKEDTOFIREBEAD" or setting it to 0.

If you don't have Shadowkeeper, you can also type this in the console:
