Enhanced Edition - Autoroller

FEATURES

• This tool will automaticly roll for attributes and stores the highest rolled score.
• You can set some priorites for Exceptional Strength if you wish.
• No longer the hassle with OFFSETS changing with patching

SUPPORTS

• BGEE (& Siege of Dragonspear)
• BG2EE (& Throne of Bhaal)
• IWDEE (& Heart of Winter)
• The Black Pit (1 & 2)

DOWNLOAD

Current version of the program should work with any version of the supported games.

DOWNLOAD (v3.3): https://www.mediafire.com/?z5071l780ae8qrr
Here is the un-compiled ahk version of the program: Download AHK version

HOW IT WORKS

1. Run the Enhanced Edition game in windowed mode (IMPORTANT)
2. Run EE Autoroller (you might have to run it as administrator)
3. If creating a class with exceptional strength, set the priorites as you want them OR set them all to 0 if you don't want to use this.
4. Press START when you have reached the attribute screen, you will be promted to press the RECALL, STORE and REROLL buttons.
5. Once you hit the REROLL button it will start rolling.

Hold down 'X' when you want to stop rolling.
'UP' will increase the rolling speed.
'DOWN' will decrease the rolling speed.

ABOUT THE EXCEPTIONAL STRENGTH SETTINGS
Exceptional Strength
This will give STR% a value and be counted towards your roll score.
Example:
If you wish that STR% 51 and higher be worth 1 attribute score you set all boxes 51+ to 1.
Now when it rolls and your currently stored total is 90 with a STR% 20 then you roll a 89 with STR% 77 the new 89 roll will be stored.

Minimum STR% to store
This will simply ignore ALL rolls with a STR% below the one set.
If you have it at 51 and would happen to roll 100 with a STR% score of 12 that roll will be ignored.

DISCLAIMER

I take no responsibility at all for the use of this program. However if used properly nothing should happen as it only reads memory data.

Halfling Slinger (Fighter)

How do you guys rate having one Halfling slinger (Fighter) in your party. (I guess I'm assuming you play a pre-created team).

Worth it?

Obviously, in theory a Halfing Slinger (Fighter) shouldn't work because although very accurate, they can't (read on) leverage a Fighters 18/xx strength to do the damage.

However, when you consider strength potions, you end up in a situation where Halfling Slingers benefit massively from them. You have a character with the 19 dex/+1 to hit sling accuracy, and the massive damage modifier the potion brings. Then later you can get the gauntlets of Ogre strength for permanant 18/00 strength.

What do you think? A key team member, or too much hassle (messing around with potions) and stuff?

Desperate for Help

I need help please. BG2 I don't have enhanced edition. I just started chapter 3 and I'm on the quest Aran's task to receive the shadow thieve's aid. In Aran's underground complex there is a room where an NPC approaches me and starts talking about overthrowing Aran. He is then overheard by one of the other thieves and the thief attack him. He's my problem. I attacked the thief attacking him, then after killing that thief my team attacked the traitorous thief killing him as well. I wasn't at that point instantly attacked by thieves so I figured everything was OK and moved on. After meeting Mook at the dock and her being killed, I headed back into the underground complete. When I reach the area where the training take place I am instantly attacked by shadow thieves and pretty much killed instantly. I do not have a save before killing the thieves that got me in hot water in the first place. Please, if anyone knows how to reset the shadow thieves using the debug console so they are no longer attacking me I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise my game is screwed.

Scrolls for sorcerers

$

As you might have heard, I am making some spells - magic-user spells (arcane) for now, and eventually priest spells (divine). For wizards I can put the spells on scrolls - get them and scribe them. For priests I can create a talking item or a special ability that will make them learn all of the spells appropriate to their level. I am doing it this way so I can completely bypass spell tables, such as SPELL.IDS, for all the different Infinity Engine games and their compatibility problems. I want the broadest application. All of my spells will be learned directly, and most of the scrolls, in the case of wizards, will not be sold at Thalantyr's or at Sorcerous Sundries or similar stores in other games. This is Dungeons&Dragons, not Cash&Carry. You will have to go out and find them.

But what about sorcerers? These poor bastard children of the Vancian memorization system and the reluctance of TSR/Wizards to abandon it are supposed to sacrifice range for flexibility for some reason. I want them to have access to my spells too, if they decide to add them to the repertoire. And since I leave alone IDS spell tables, they will not get my spells to pick when they level up. Good, all the more adventuring to do. Although a sorcerer does not want to clutter the interface with spells of limited usability - notice how this purely a question of interface, there is no reason why a sorcerer would want fewer powers in a imaginary, pen-and-paper game - I want the scribing to work for them so they can pick and choose. The only question is, how to accomplish that? All of the functions and distinctions in the toolset lump wizards and sorcerers together, what is usable by the goose is good for the gander, except that scribing is not there!

Can't Use Old Character Files in BG or BP campaign with SoD installed [Solved?]

$

Game Version: 2.3.67.3
WIndows 10

Thought I would use some of the character files I had exported in pre-SoD BGEE, but discovered that SoD would not detect the old files at all. I thought it was a matter of the file directory at first, but exporting a character in SoD saved the character files to the same place (IE. in Documents). This is all with the Beamdog version. Was there some sort of issue with compatibility or something? Filename length restrictions? Any help would be appreciated.

Addendum: It would appear that this affects the BGEE and Black Pits campaigns only. Character files properly show in SoD.

A Story: "How I Almost Hated 'Trials of the Luremaster' (and, By Association, Icewind Dale) Forever"

WARNING: Lategame Spoilers

Once upon a time, there was a person named . . . well, we'll call him Aureol.

Aureol played Icewind Dale, and he loved it. It was no Baldur's Gate II, but that was a GOOD thing, he realized; after beating it, Aureol found this wintry game had a contrarily-warm place in his heart.

Shortly after beating it once, he realized an Enhanced Edition was to be shortly released! After a little wait, Aureol procured the Enhanced Edition of this fantastic gem which evaded him for over a decade.

Aureol played it again, and he loved it more than the first time! He loved it so much, he decided to play the expansions along the way! He played through Heart of Winter, and though a little short, it was a fun adventure. Before slaying the last foe, Aureol proceeded to follow a horrid little Halfling to some Lathander-forsaken castle.

This castle was tedious, but it was not too difficult. Spectral guards hit hard, that is sure, but that was about it. He made it through the Jackals, and that was tough, but again Aureol pulled through.

Curious to measure his team's ability, Aureol took a quick break to see how his team would handle Heart of Fury mode as they were in a new game. He exported his adventurers, killed a few beefed-up goblins, then returned to the Maluradek Interior.

He ventured into the bottommost dungeon, and . . . nightmares. Oh, the horrible nightmares! Minotaurs shredded, spiders shanked, and harpies proved nigh invincible! Nay, this particular band of harpies took far longer than Aureol cares to admit on this forum! And after defeating the harpies in a bloody manner involving much abuse (Project Cheese), Aureol basked in temporary rest . . . *sob*. *Sniff* *wipes tear* only to have his sole resurrector killed by a couple Stone Nuisances.

Aureol wailed in agony. What injustice was this!? All this hard work, in some STUPID expansion with IMPOSSIBLE enemies, he had won, only to die to some careless oversight!?! He would not stand this injustice!

Upon reloading, Aureol proceeded to CTRL-Y the harpies into oblivion. Yes, no mercy for the weak! Aureol might be a Lawful Good Priest of Lathander, but mercy only goes so far! Aureol cackled! They all died in a fell swoop! And the Stone Nuisances? OBLITERATED! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Having accomplished what could only be described as Hell, Aureol went to face the Luremaster. After realizing the Spectral Heroes were all but one-shotting each adventurer. SLASH, Groma the Sorceress died. HACK-STAB-HACK! Dmirio the Cavalier, gone! SMASH! Rahamas the Broad, blasted into bits from 30+ damage of overkill!

"Why me?" Aureol wondered. How could he fail so hard? Then, it hit him.

"What . . . was the difficulty at?" Aureol checked the options. Alas, after testing his team against early-game goblins endowed with hearts of fury, he had neglected to set it back to the far-more-sane "Core" rules! Aureol cursed himself, but then he sobbed happy tears.

"I . . . am free. I am free from the Luremaster!!!" Changing the difficulty back to Core, Aureol proceeded with confidence! They were no match for his slightly-overleveled-due-to-Heart of Fury-bonus-experience party! They fought well, but they met an untimely doom!

Aureol left the castle, pleased. Proud. Triumphant!

Aureol went on to fight Belhifet. Belhifet was stalwart, but when Aureol reflected on that final battle, he remembered . . .

Belhifet could not compare to the Harpies of Maluradek.

So, once again Easthaven was saved, but of infinitely greater importance, Aureol did not hate the Dale of Icewind.

Druid shapeshifting APR

Is there anything that affects a shapeshifted druid's attack per round other than haste? I like the idea of the mighty demons and dragons being pummeled by a mob of angry elementals druids but can't find a way to boost their low apr. Items don't seem to work.

So the last days I started the infamous, despicable and much hated Neverwinter action MMORPG only to discover...
that I love it! Omg this feeling of finally being back in the North! In Neverwinter, one of my favorite cities.

I have always been fascinated with that city in NWN 1 and NWN 2.
In Neverwinter, the city is trying to regain its former glory. The aftermath of the spellplague has left the city in ruins. And you as the hero help Neverwinter to recover and rebuild it.

Anyway, it is an action MMORPG and as such in my opinion it should not be compared to the Infinity Engine games or the NWN games. Also this game is completely free to play.
Yes that means of course there are many many optional payment features BUT there is a way to
earn the ingame currency by NOT spending real cash. Of course it involves A LOT of grinding...
Anyway you don't need those optional features anyway, maybe except for a larger inventory bag.

For me the game has been a lot of fun so far! And I'm only a few days in. I'M FINALLY BACK IN NEVERWINTER! (and on this forum too :P )

Favorite OST so far: (Listening to this while running through Neverwinter is so awesome!)

Also, here's my hero, Thrall Maggotmasher:

image

"Thrall Maggotmasher stands 5'10'' tall and weights 176 pounds. For half-orc standards he is rather small and has a far less bulky body type than other half-orcs.

Given his race Thrall has always had difficulties in human or orcish societies. And given his particular appearance he has had troubles with other half-orcs, who mock him for his "tiny, puny, boyish" looks.

This has gone so far as that one day, a group of half-orc thugs beat Thrall up for being "a shame to all half-orcs". They would have killed him, wasn't it for the fact that his orcish father was a rather famous warlord. So while they did spare him, they forced him to call himself "Maggotmasher" from that day on, because that was all a "puny, fragile" half-orc was good for, mashing maggots. They threatened to come after him should he not obey.

Thrall has decided to take on the road of a warrior and that one day, thugs like them would be the maggots that he'd mash."

That's my first draft on his biography which I likely will expand upon later on.

Can't enter Ramazith's Tower

What's going on here, is this a bug? I've searched but don't see other mentions of it.

Anyways, I can't enter the tower. Can open and close the door, but clicking the open door icon won't take me inside. With full party selected it looked like a pathfinding issue with the characters bouncing each other back and forth to try and get in. With only 1 character selected, he walks to the entrance and stops. I've tried it with 2 chars, 3 chars, nothing.

My Siege of Dragonspear Review

First, some background. I am a huge fan of the Baldur's Gate series of games. I bought them all the moment they hit the shelves back in the late 90s early 2000s, including the Icewind Dale and Planescape:Torment games. They introduced me to D&D and the Realms, two of my great loves.

So when Beamdog announced they'd be enhancing the original games for the new era, I was stoked. I was fine with modding the originals, but it was work I didn't like doing and the touchups were nice. More than anything, I was glad for the new attention the games were getting and the hope new ones would be on the horizon.

So when Beamdog announced they'd be creating a new expansion between the original BG and BG 2, I was very excited. Of course, I was also a little skeptical. I wasn't sure if a story bridging the two games would make any sense.

Then the game came out. I usually don't buy a new game right away. I want the bugs to get worked out first and I try to hold out for a sale. But not long after it came out, I was shocked.

People hated it.

I mean really hated it. You guys know what I mean. Now let me be clear, I'm not really talking about the...social stuff. Gosh I hated all that....well hate. I so desperately want to go on a rant about that here, but I won't. Let's just say I found all that irrelevant. Very irrelvant.

But those weren't the only haters out there. Many had what appeared to be valid complaints. The said the story was terrible, that it wasn't true to the spirit of the original games or the Realms, that the NPC's were bland and uninteresting, and worse.

I was genuinely discouraged. For so long I'd waited for a new Gate game, and now it was looking really bad. Eventually though, I decided that the franchise had earned enough of my trust that I would pull the trigger this one time. If it was bad, well everyone gets one, right?

So I bought it, loaded it, and started playing.

Were they all playing a different game?

This expansion is AWESOME.

First, the opening movie and music is perfect. The story is as good as any the series has produced with the exception of Torment and Shadows of Amn. From the very start I was geeking out and ready to adventure!

User Interface
The UI for SOD is the best I've seen so far. Aesthetically pleasing and utilitarian. My only (minor) complaint is the change that your "hand" cursor doesn't change to the item you select but rather "grabs" it which is kinda unwieldy.

NPCs, Banter, and Interactions
The new NPCs are great and imaginative, with Glint being my personal favorite. Banter and interaction between NPCs is more organic and clean and happens more often. Love it.

Spells
A few tweaks to the old spells makes them better. Check it out.

Meaningful Choices
The progress of the story is railroaded a bit, but this happened from time to time in other Gate games and was the rule in Throne of Bhaal. What IS great is that within that storyline you can make meaningful choices: good or evil, law or chaos? You can save people or kill them and it matters later on. This is the heart of Role Playing Games and Gate games.

Old Friends
I felt the way the expansion handled the old NPCs was also organic and pleasant. Not everyone agrees to rejoin you after the initial zone and some have moved on to other things, as real people would. Fate changes things, of course, but this too plays into the story. It's a far cry from using the power of a dead god to "force" people to come to your demiplane and join you (I'm looking at you, Throne of Bhaal.)

Scripted Encounters
Even the random encounters aren't really random, but are interesting and even offer real choices! (Do I help the dragon or the giants, for example.)

Spectacles of Spectacle
This was such a cool thing to do. In particular, I enjoyed that the portal that opens to summon the creatures is the iconic Planescape:Torment portal graphic. Such nostalgia!

The Story
I felt the story was very good, had unexpected turns, and was a story tied to the lore of the Realms, which is awesome. The ending (the actual end of the game) was as good as I think it could have been considering they were making a prequel to BG2 (and fitting a prequel into the continuity is harder than it looks, just ask George Lucas.)

There are so many other praises I've got for this expac, but I'll stop here. Suffice to say I can't agree with the haters and believe this game is the cat's meow. Worth every penny I paid (and I didn't get it on sale.) I would easily put this expac above Throne of Bhaal. Hey I love all the Gate games, but SoD is better than ToB in my opinion. I cannot wait to see what's coming next from Beamdog and I hope a BG3 is around the corner!

Backbiter

$
0
0
Does anyone have any first hand experience of trying to use the Backbiter as a viable weapon (the +3 spear that inflicts 3 points of damage to the weirder on each successful hit)?

Here's my thinking:

Start with a half-orc (?) barbarian with 2 pips in spear, and 2 pips in 2 handed weapons.

Go early for the Backbiter so you have a +3 weapon very early in the game (practically right at the start).

Positives: I'm thinking this spear would be a great early weapon because a spear hits quickly and being a piercing attack it specifically by-passes leather armour (and there's a lot of enemies with that early game) and bucklers. I can imagine running at early enemies and the Backbiter taking them down before they can hit you back. Would also be good to use with a character who can regenerate - half-orc or dwarf and getting the constitution tome.

Then, later in the game swap it out for the +2 spear.

Any thoughts?

My main concerns are:

(1) It seems a little bit cheesy

(2) I think I'm right in saying you can't unequip the spear very easily. So you can't switch to a ranged weapon.

(3) Eventually getting to the +2 spear, a +2 spear is okay - but it's not amazing.

(4) I'm concerned that if you face a pack of targets with next to no hitpoint (e.g. melee kobolds) that the Backbiter could be a bit overkill and overall you'd loose quite a bit of health.

Which brings me back to the beginning... Has anyone actually tried this?

[SPOILERS] Buttercheese's Forgotten Doodles - Request Status: CLOSED

$

Hey y'all. I decided to make a fanart thread just for myself, because I can.

I'll post here most anything I think you guys might be interested in - Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity, Neverwinter Nights, general D&D/ Forgotten Realms stuff ... I hope you guys will find something you like and let me hear your opinions about them :)

Please don't post any pictures in this thread, if you really need to, please hotlink them or put them in a spoiler tag. This is my gallery and I want to keep it this way, thank you ;)

Also, I am really bad at responding towards praise because I am usually too flustered to come up with anything creative to say, but know that I am always thankful and happy about it, even if I don't say anything.

- Requests -

Request Status: CLOSED
Status meanings: Open = Accepting; Hold = Not accepting until older requests are finished; Closed = Not doing requests

Here are the rules:
- No OCs and no drawings of yourself. -
- The character has to be from Forgotten Realms or something related. -
At this time, I don't accept PS:T and NWN1 requests, because I haven't finished the games yet.
- No guarantees. -
- Keep it simple. -
So ideally no backgrounds and requests that require the full body.
The more time consuming your request, the sloppier it is going to be.

- Only one request per person at a time. -
When I've drawn your request or declined it, you may ask for another.
- If anything is unclear, ask away ;) -

Challenge: the all-of-a-class party

$
0
0
Simple rules:
- full party creation with members of the same class (i.e. only bards, only thieves, only druids, only rangers etc.);
- NPCs can join the party if they comply with the rule above;
- no dual classing, unless ALL party members have the same dual class;
- no multi classing, unless ALL party members have the same multi class;
- kits are allowed in any number you want, but if you use the same kit for all party members it's better (i.e. 6 assassins, 6 berserkers, 6 shapeshifters etc.).

Post your opinions about which party would give the most fun, or which party GAVE or IS GIVING you the most enjoyable experience with these rules. :)
So let's see which experience gives the most satisfaction. Is there anybody who tried or would try 6 F/M/T characters despite the geologically slow level progress?

Changing NPC soundsets in BGEE or BG2EE?

I've looked and I can't find an older discussion on this topic. Does anyone know of a mod or another way to change the voice of an NPC like Neera or Dorn? I don't even have a custom soundset in mind, just changing it to one of the generic PC soundsets would be acceptable. Looking for any suggestions!

[MOD] Isra NPC for BG:EE, BGT & TuTu released!

$
0
0
Platform: BG:EE, BGT & TuTu

And for our final release this 12 Days of Christmas, we have a new paladin NPC from Rhaella, author of Adrian and Ninde ToB, for BG:EE/BGT/TuTu!

Isra is a follower of Sune Firehair, the goddess of love, beauty, and passion, and the only chaotic aligned deity to sponsor paladins. As such, she isn't necessarily what you might expect of a paladin. She associates with some of the most mirthful churches in the Realms, so for the most part, she lacks the solemn edge that's so common for the class. She definitely still believes in honor, discipline, and order, but she tends to value the courtly aspects of the code of conduct more highly than the demands of duty. As a result, she's usually pretty willing to ignore harmlessly chaotic behavior (not evil behavior, though).

Isra is Amnish, most recently from Crimmor, the Caravan Capital of Amn. She's a squire with the Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose, and you can find her in the Nashkel Mines region, trying (with no success whatsoever) to resolve Prism's legal difficulties. Aid her in protecting him from Greywolf, and she'll be happy to help you investigate the mines. Make sure you recruit her before clearing them, however. They pose enough of a threat that she'll be willing to take action first and seek permission later; otherwise she'd feel obligated to return south to her order instead of gallivanting off with strangers.

She won't join the company of an evil PC under any circumstances. She won't be rude about it, but she does have the magic to tell. She also won't stick around if your reputation drops below 6.

Shadowdancer Mage

So...

Rolled a 95 (been quite lucky these last few rolls) and chose a Shadowdancing human.

Was thinking to Dual class CHARNAME to Mage after having maxed Find Traps and Open Locks.

Has anyone tried the combo before? Should I keep something special in mind before or after the Dual Class choice?

Thanks in advance.

Let's be fair:

Dynaheir casted 3 Lower Resistance

Glint casted Doom

Corwin used Called Shot

My Enchanter used Greater Malison

And after this Belhifet was:

1) Blinded due to Glitterdust (my Enchanter)

2) Slowed (Enchanter)

3) Silenced (nice job, Viconia!)

4) Enfeebled (Enchanter)

5) Held (Enchanter)

And he would probably fall to Feeblemind if it wasn't for an unfortunate Magic Resistance

By now he's probably seeing that it was not a good idea to mess up with a Child of Bhaal

Like the new Joker says "I'll not kill you. I'll just hurt you really, really bad".

The General Questions Thread

$

So I got to thinking, while I often have general questions about various aspects of the game, it's rather bothersome to clutter up the activity page with random questions, especially when I have as many as I do. So I came up with this idea. This is a general questions thread that anyone can contribute to, both with questions and answers. Ask a question, hopefully it'll be answered. (and with the efficiency of the community here, I wouldn't be surprised if it's answered rapidly.) I doubt things will become too cluttered, so it'll be a nice way for us to help each other out. Now, I don't THINK this has been done before, but if so, then do what needs to be done, dear mods, as you generally know best. Without further explanation, here's the first question I have.

If I were to complete Anomen's quest line, would he retain the stat boost if I teleport him to me in ToB? The character I'm working with would be unlikely to take him through all of SoA, but due to Aerie's... "problems" in ToB, my main character would want to leave her where she's safe, but that leaves a clerical gap in the party. Obviously Anomen would fill that hole nicely, but I don't know if he'll keep all of his bonuses from me completing his quest. In theory, I will be taking only five characters through the end of SoA, so if I have to bring Anomen along it's not a deal breaker, but for RP reasons it makes more sense to simply bring him to me when I need him.

Those random encounter maps where you get attacked while travelling from one map to the other. What if you leave an npc, like Imoen, in one? Is she gone forever? What about that map where you can recruit Dorn for the first time? If you kick someone out to make room for him then is that npc lost forever?
