Wizard Slayers are commonly regarded as a bad class. This seems to arise from the misconception that they cause 10% spell failure chance per melee hit, whereas they actually cause 25% spell failure chance per hit, melee or ranged. A level 1 Wizard Slayer with two pips in darts gets 3.5 high-speed attacks per round, and then 4 APR with the third pip. This seems like it would trivialize fights against mages. Two rounds of fighting, and that poor mage you interrupted with your darts can't cast any more spells. That would make the Wizard Slayer one of the best classes, certainly far from one of the worst. Am I missing something?

Dual-classing (the other kind)
There's tons of good advice about dual-classing on this forum. However, most of it is in reference to a mid-level dual 'n grind where your second class has to go through 7, 9, or 13 levels before unlocking your fist class and emerging as uber-man.
I'd like to get some opinions on the one 'n done dual-class combos where your first class gets unlocked before you even get to Nashkel or the mines. I recently started a dual hammer wielding berserk->cleric and the melee synergy is just awesome. Some kits that get extra perks at level three would also be a good choice but you'd probably be in chapter three before the first class was unlocked.
I know that this kind of dual-classing doesn't create the uber-man PC but I absolutely HATE grinding through 7+ levels just to be able to use my first class again.
I'm looking for other class/kit combos that work well when dualing at 2nd or 3rd level.

Pareri sullo sciamano

[MOD] DLC Builder for Enhanced Edition v2.x games
Download: DLC Builder v2.2
This mod allows you to create a DLC archive out of a modded game installation. It can then be used to mod a clean game simply by dropping the file into one of the supported DLC folders. That way you don't have to go through the time-consuming and error-prone process of installing one mod after another if you simply want to reuse a known mod configuration. It can also be used to quickly synchronize multiple game installations for multiplayer sessions. The mod automatically detects files that have been added or modified by mods and includes them in the resulting DLC archive. Files in extra folders (such as movies, music or scripts) that have been added manually or were installed by platform-dependent batch or shell scripts cannot be detected properly and must be placed into the working folder of this mod if you want to include them in the DLC archive as well. See the included Readme for more information.
An expert mode allows you to control more aspects of the DLC building process.
The resulting DLC archive can be easily installed on any game installation by dropping it into one of the supported DLC locations.
Supported DLC locations:
1. [Game install folder]/workshop (accepts only DLC archives with ".mod" extension) <- highest priority
2. [Game install folder]/dlc
3. [Game install folder]
4. [Documents folder of the game] <- lowest priority
Important:
The game version of the target installation should match the version of the game where the DLC archive has been created or you may encounter missing string references or outdated lines of text. It mainly depends on how many changes have been made to the dialog.tlk of the target version of the game.

Potete:
- Postare uno screenshot del dialogo in cui compare la frase con il refuso;
- Scriverla;

The Picture Standard for BGEE 1 & 2
The Picture Standard for BGEE 1 & 2
This mod provides you with higher resolution pics for NPCS and for followers (BG1&2) including (!) for some mods:
For BG1EE: BG1NPC, Dark Horizons, Dark Side of the Sword Coast, Drizzt Saga, Rogue Rebalancing, T'was a slow Boat, Finch, Gavin, Indira, Isra, Valerie
For BG2EE: Eilistaee's Song, Innerhade, I Shall never Forget, Sellswords, Tales of the Deep Gardens, The White Queen, Isra
These pics are true to the content. Because some pictures aren't true to lore (I'm looking at you mods) I address this problem with "Lore - Alternative" which replaces some of the immersion breaking pics and add to overall coherence. In other words: The alternative pack is highly recommended. This mod is or should be the picture standard for BGEE. If you find something better, then by all means: use that. But don't fall below this standard.
Pics optimized: 500+!
Download
Note to other modders: If you're planning a story/mod with pics, please consider these points:
a) Use the right file sizes (see below)
b) Use new pics for characters that haven't been used.
c) Use same pics for characters that have been used.
Using same pics insures continuity, using new pics for new characters also helps avoid breaking game immersion. If you use pics that are already designated it can ruin the fun of your mod. So what is the point in releasing it in the first place? So for both b) and c) please refer to The Picture Standard and see where you stand.
So what's the problem?
We start here with a misconception: the ol' BG had three files (L, M, S,). Accordingly you also need to provide three file sizes for BGEE.
WRONG. BGEE can scale any picture size down or up.
Let's say you're playing BGEE on a 1080p monitor like me, you'll realize your eyes start to bleed whenever a npc portrait pops up. That's because BGEE upscales the smallest files to fit the screen resolution, instead of downscaling larger files. This results into blurry portraits, which can cause, by merely looking at them, permanent eyesight reduction.
What to do?
Not to play BGEE is out of the question. Warriors and barbarians will not mind damaging their eyes, as long as treasure huntin' and fun is to be
had. But we're not all warriors. Some are already half-blind like me, and worry that further exposure will lead to the need of a blindman's
stick and worst of all, not being able to play games anymore.
So I've taken up the liberty in providing you with higher resolution npc pics and the standard follower pics. Please note that although I did find almost all pictures, some evaded me and therefore I was forced to use an upscalling method in photoshop (including some tweaks). The outcome is better than the original, but not as optimal as I would want it (which would mean that they had to be perfect...). Check out the difference in the screenshots.
Installation
1. Make a backup of portraits in the override folder.
2. Install The Picture Standard - Vanilla by dropping the pictures from the 'Override'-folder into your 'override'-folder (wherever you installed the game).
3. I recommend installing the TPS - Follower folder also, since you probably don't have seperate pics for all others. Over this you can then install - if you want to - your own party pics. This step makes sure that, all pics are the higher versions. Just make sure the M and S pics are 210x330.
4. Optional but highly recommended: I also provided the TPS - Alternative, which gives you some new lorefriendly pics. BUT ALWAYS INSTALL THE TPS - VANILLA FIRST!
5. Updating: First drop the new Vanilla content into your override folder, click 'yes' to let it overwrite. Then - if you want to - do the same with the
alternative.
6. Uninstall by deleting them.
OR
Use manually WeiDU. Place the folder thepicturestandard in your BG game folder and then run the WeiDU installer setup-thepicturestandard.exe in your game folder.
OR:
Use Big World Setup! It comes as an option!
Will you offer further assistance?
Probably not as much as I'd like to. Firstly, I created this mod for my own pleasure and (!) health. Secondly, I work a lot and would like to use my time for gaming. This picture pack works. Although here is some advice for gamers as well as modders:
1. Any pic you plan to use, that means all L, M and S, make sure they have the size 210x330 because the game by itself can and will downscale. Otherwise the format is: 24bit .bmp
2. LARGE pics are for character creation, MEDIUM for character record and SMALL for the right sidebar and speech popups.
3. Again: Always make sure your L, M, S pics have this resolution: 210x330.
4. For best perspectives try this: L = almost full body; M = Torso; S = Portrait. Because of mostly low picture quality I was not able to always do this and had to use the torso perspective for S, except for a few like: GARZOM*. So that could be your reference pic.
5. Quick'n'dirty would mean: Copy your large follower pic (the 210x33) and rename the ending to M and S. So you will have always clear pics.
Changelog:
v. 0.7.1 - Added Siege of Dragonspear, Tortured Souls and Tower of Deception. Also some small changes.
v. 0.7.0 - Added The Darkest Day. Also made some small changes, better pics, etc.
v. 0.6.9 - Edited the original BG1Edwin and added it as Alternative A. Added bhaalspawn pics, as those eluded me. Minor changes.
v. 0.6.8 - Alternative Valygar, Vicionia and Xan pics! New Korgan! Alternative Lore for T'was a slow boat. Edited some backgrounds of the pics.
v. 0.6.7 - Changed some pics! Found a few better pics.
v. 0.6.6 - There is a WeiDU! agb1 helped me compiling one. Also: more pics for more mods!
v. 0.6.4 - Somehow found more of the ones that have been eluding me.
v. 06_3 - Added some more BG2EE content, updated others
v.06_2 - As ikonomov rightly stated, I forgot some follower pics, all redeemed.
v.06_1 - Added 'Dark Side of the Sword Coast' pics
v.06 - found more and better quality
v.05 - Changed from .7z to .zip - seems to better for BWS
v.04 Updated more vanilla pics and new alternatives. Deleted some other alternatives, as they are redundant.
v.01a Updated vanilla and added new alternatives. Finally got more info on some of the corresponding characters.
Credits: To all who actually drew or otherwise made these pictures and to agb1 for helping with the WeiDU installer.

(rant) Drow equipment disintrigration
So I'm mostly through Ust Natha, and I completely forgot about the Drow equipment disintegration until now, and I've already sold the gear it replaced somewhere along the line.
OK sure, I'll just use EEKeeper to fix it, and I don't think the Drow weapons should carry over when the time comes but does anyone else find this 'SURPRISE, DICKHEAD!' moment really inelegant design?
Some kind of warning from Adalon before you venture into the city would seem appropriate, or how about as a reward from her quest being a batch of Darkoil for a single Drow item of your choosing?
I can't be the only one that doesn't carry around masses of equipment just in case and just sells replaced stuff for instant profit/inventory space?

Kensai-thief
I am finally doing it. My last play-through was a F/T multiclass. This will be my first dual class. I had some questions to clarify things.
My Char base stats 18/97, 18, 18, 10, 8, 18. All tomes from BGEE going to CHARname.
Weapon prof: Scimitar:** 2 weapon style: 2 I plan on maxing these out before dual classing. chose scimitars for the weapons that give bonus APR. Might take Drizzt's
1st question: Am I sposed to dual when I reach level 12 or level 13? trying to maximize APR/thaco etc.
2nd question: Once I obtain UAI can I dual wield Belm and the scarlet ninja-to for +2 APR?
3rd question: Since my base THACO will already be greater than a thiefs at the time of dual classing will it no longer improve with thief levels?
4th question: Will I be limited to placing one pip in weapon prof slots after becoming a thief?
5th question: Civil War or Batman Vs Superman?

No Water Elementals in BG:EE´s?
Hello!
While playing Black Pits 2, I was picking maybe lvl 5 or 6 spells for my sorcerer. When reading the spell list, there are elemental summons for fire, eart and air, but water isn´t available. Is there soem particular lorewise reasoning for them to be left out, or is it just mechanical, as in way back the just didn´t make water elementals sprites due to time limits or dwindling budget or some such reason?

Not having Safana in BG2 now sucks.
As a group of ne'er-do-wells running around you can stick with Dorn, Viconia, Edwin, and a Token Dwarf in BG1/BG2. But poor Safana not being in BG2 after her stay in my party was extended in SoD makes me sad.
I would LOVE to see her encounter where she suddenly thinks she can take a bounty on your head. ESPECIALLY after the events of BG1 is nonsensical. I now wish that Final chapter encounter of BG2 didn't have her cameo and she was recruitable like everyone else. Sure we have Hexxat. But she isn't my spoiled little vixen Thief is she.
Very sad. would be sad again. How do other people feel?

[MOD] [BETA] Monastic Orders of Faerun
Monastic Orders of Faerûn (MO or MOoF) rebalances monk progression in order to provide viability at both low and high levels. It revises the three existing monks in an attempt to make them all balanced at all levels of play. It also adds five new Monk kits, inspired by various monastic orders throughout the Realms. Finally, it adds two entirely new types of equipment designed exclusively for monks.
The current version of Monastic Orders (v0.3) is designed to work with any of the released Enhanced Editions (BG:EE, BG2:EE, IWD:EE). Many features of this mod rely heavily on the functionality added in the Enhanced Editions, and thus there are no plans to extend compatibility to the original games.
Features:
- Revised progressions for trueclass, Sun Soul and Dark Moon Monks
- Expanded race options, allowing half-elves, half-orcs and halflings to become Monks
- 5 new kits, based on various Monastic Orders of Faerûn
- 2 new item types exclusively for monks: handwraps and vestments
A more complete list and explanation of features is available in the ReadMe.pdf at the end of this post.
This mod is currently in a beta stage, and I need feedback to improve and balance the kits and items. If you would like to playtest it, just extract that attached .rar to your BGEE, BG2EE or IWDEE install and run.
Suggestions about kit and item balance are welcome, as are suggestions for item colors, availability and locations.

Foundling is the thrall of Thaxll'ssillvia, the Shadow Dragon found in the Temple Ruins. He is cold, calculating, and determined to be freed from his influence. He can never oppose his master on his own, but everything can change thanks to the influence of the Bhaalspawn.
Foundling is a Shadow Adept who can use Shadow Weave Magic as well as some Shadow Magic. The mod introduces a new kind of magic with its own advantages and disadvantages. Even though Foundling is recognised as a mage, he can't use the Weave. In exchange he is given his own dark spells - mostly dark versions of well known spells, but there are some brand new ones too.
The mod is both an NPC and quest mod and introduces new characters, areas, music, items, soundset etc.
Foundling is not romanceable, but the character will still talk to you frequently, so no worries.

We are still waiting.
Alright, real talk.
It has been over two years now since BG2:EE was been released.
And after countless patches, the German dub still hasn't been re-included in the game.
Usually I don't care much for dubs, but the thing with the BG2 dub is ... that for a few exceptions, it's actually better than the original English version imo. A lot of us German speaking players have literally grown up with that version. It's iconic and arguably one of the best game dubs out there in general.
I think you will understand why a lot of us folks here are pretty salty about the voices still missing.
I am not saying that you should half-ass the EE voices. Please no. The new guys have to be on par with the old ones or it will ruin it. But at the very least, you could re-include the old ones and fill up the new ones with the English versions.
This has already been discussed on the German subforums, but we have been completely ignored there, which is why I am coming here.
So please, Beamdog.
Give us our dub back.

Has Siege of Dragonspear Failed?
So, recently I sat down to rev up a new full run of the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Trilogy. Thought I'd try my hand at a shaman and bring in a different cast than I normally do, change things up a bit. So I started looking around, trying to get a new perspective on the characters to see what combination would be fun to use. Baldur's Gate I and II have miles upon miles of commentary on them, including the EE newcomers, talking about their effectiveness, their banters and interjections, who they work best with and who they'll come to blows with, fun gear options for them, scenes they really shine in, and so much else.
Siege of Dragonspear? Nothing. Bubkiss. Er, bubkis, though I get the impression there's more on the net about Bub Snikt getting a theoretical smooch than there is about the actual game of Siege of Dragonspear. DeviantArt's gotta have something, I'm sure.
@Lilura did address it in her walkthrough on it, detailing their initial gear and some commentary. But that's all of it. The gamefaqs page for SoD is empty. The forum for the game there is a ghost town. TVTropes, which can go on at length about anything, is astonishingly terse about it. Every freaking entry on google is talking about Mizhena or Minsc, be it to defend, decry, or discuss them. Everybody is talking around the game, but nobody is talking about the game.
Now, I'm not asking about whether the game is good or not. I personally enjoyed it, though there are a few elements that struck me with all the disappointment of biting into an onion when I ordered my cheeseburger plain. But I am curious: If nobody is actually talking about the game (least of all Beamdog themselves, regarding the lingering issues like tablet support and any form of update to BG2EE's roster), did this game fail? What constitutes success and failure? Is this game simply not as interesting as the troubles it generated?
Of course, it would be all too easy to give a gut reaction answer to this, but I would ask you to think about it before answering. I hope to start a discussion, not a fight.

char voice files
imported my gnome FMT from icewind dale with few problems. Lost the portrait, but that is minor. However I was ratehr attached to the voice files he had in IWD. They really matched the char.
How do I go about transfering them from iwd folder to bg2. AM total nuub on this sort of thing (
cheers)

A keyboard shortcut to selecting the whole party
Hello all
It is a nuisance to have to drag the mouse cursor to the right bottom corner of the screen to select the whole party. Sure, sometimes it's easy to do it by drawing a square around the character sprites, but more often this is not possible.
It would be a good idea to add a feature where the player could assign a key that will choose every character in the party when pressed. I remember that Icewind Dale 2 had this one and boy was it convenient!
Here's my first post, I try to keep it short and sweet!

[MOD] Scales of Balance - a post-hac tweak mod
THIS MOD IS deprecated REVIVED!!
https://github.com/subtledoctor/Scales_of_Balance/releases/tag/5.1.8
This new version basically just has some improved versions of the overhaul and tweak components that have been residing in Might 'n' Guile for the last few months:
- Item/Weapon Overhaul (in 4 parts)
- Weapon Proficiency Overhaul (in 5 parts)
- Magic Resistance Overhaul
- Stat tweaks
- Hit dice tweaks
- XP table tweaks
That's it!

...
If you like the SoB cleric and druid kits, you can still find those at the link for v4.3:
https://github.com/subtledoctor/Scales_of_Balance/releases/tag/4.3.2
But really, those are totally old and busted. Instead of using them, you should ask me for a copy of the Faiths & Powers beta. Even now, in beta form, it's miles better!![:) :)]()
Btw, part of the reason for breaking things up this way has to do with load order. Might 'n' Guile as usual should be installed after other kits but before SCS. This new version of Scales of Balance should be installed very very late: especially if you use the MRO, that should be installed after all mods that add creatures and items. So after SCS, and after aTweaks.
Cheers!
Again, to recap what's happened since v3: my single old mod got too big and unwieldy, and I also got better at this stuff and wanted to do more. So the old Scales of Balance has been broken up into a number of other mods:
Faiths & Powers (cleric & druid tweaks and kits, by Grammarsalad):
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/43174/faiths-and-powers-gods-of-the-realms-kitpack-and-divine-caster-spell-tweaks#latest
Tome & Blood (wizard & sorcerer tweaks and kits, by Aquadrizzt):
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/31274/mod-beta-tome-and-blood-more-options-for-wizards-and-sorcerers#latest
Might & Guile (warrior & rogue tweaks and kits, by me!):
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/43878/might-and-guile-a-tweak-mod-and-kit-pack-for-warriors-and-rogues
NPC_EE (add any kit to any NPC):

README:
You can read all about the mod components here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86011511/README-SoB.html
What is this?
This started out as my own personal set of tweaks that I did on top of a fully modded game. It includes some basic mechanical tweaks (e.g. modified stat bonuses and an overhaul of the proficiency system), some cosmetic changes (e.g. FR-themed paladin kit names, and magic items that don't break immersion by putting '+2's and '+5's in your face), and roughly 15 new kits.
This is all about improving gameplay.
I love mods that bring the game closer to PnP, like Rogue Rebalancing and aTweaks. But BG is a single-player computer game. If tweaking a rule makes this specific game more fun, then it's a good tweak, PnP be damned. Consider this mod as a collection of 'house rules' specific to the BG campaign. Every choice has been made with an eye to the particular gameplay mechanics of BG2 and the EEs.
I try to make this as compatible as possible with other mods.
Notwithstanding the above paragraphs, this mod is 100% compatible with RR and aTweaks. This is meant to be applied alongside those mods - not instead of them.
Everything is completely optional.
You can use as many or as few of the mod components as you like. None of them rely on each other, there is no 'core' component. Use what you like, ignore what you don't.
A very general idea of what the mod contains (not in this order):
1) Basic game tweaks. These components modify the following:
- reducing the number of +'s in in-game item descriptions, and standardizing item enchantment into normal, 'mastercraft,' 'enchanted' (+2), named weapons (+3), and artifacts (+5)
- slightly improved stat bonuses, saving throw tables, HP tables, XP tables, and spell tables
- an overhaul of the weapon proficiency system
- minor tweaks and rebalancing for vanilla warriors, rogues, and divine classes
- revised kensai kit that actually specializes in one weapon class, like the description says
- MAJOR revisions to druid shapeshifting
- wizards class changes, including at-will cantrips, innate metamagic, and tweaks to the spell battle system
- MAJOR specialist wizard kit and spell school changes, making all 8 specialists fun and unique
2) New kits, all balanced against the vanilla game and based on solid, lore-friendly 2E and FR sources.
- 2 new fighter kits (Corsair, Marksman)
- 4 new ranger kits (Mage Hunter, Barbarian Ranger, Elven Archer, Halfling Slinger)
- 7 new cleric kits (priests of Selune, Sune, Tymora, Leira, Shar, Malar, Baervan Wildwanderer)
- 2 new druid kits (Purifier, Elementalist)
- 2 new thief kits (Scout, Sniper)
- 5 new bard kits (Jongleur, Loremaster, Gallant, Meistersinger, Loresinger of Milil)
- 10 new multiclass kits! (Bladesinger, Spellfilcher, Spellbender, multiclass priests of Mask, Mystra, Arvoreen and Brandobaris, and more)
3) NPC modifications. These components allow you to apply some of the new kits, or some original kits, to various NPCs. (This is basically for EE players who can't use the Level1NPCs mod.)
A note on installation:
- Install SoB after item mods, after kit-adding mods (but remember the limit of 10 kits per class!), and after BG2Tweaks. The MRO should be after SCS and after aTweaks. The stuff that should be installed after this include FPPS, Generalized Biffing, NPC_EE, Level1NPCs, lolfixer, etc. Not much.

Recensioni in Italiano
Ciao!
Grazie!
